I think there are good and bad things about the list.

How many of them will actually sign and play for the big club?

I think that Detroit has about 6 guys with a good chance to play in the bigs as regulars. More that will at least get a shot.
These are the guys that I'm confident become NHL regulars.
Simon Edvinsson
Jonatan Berggren
Marco Kasper
Elmer Soderblom (That article ranked him way too low)
Albert Johansson (Same as above)
Sebastian Cossa (It'll take some time but probably becomes at least a backup)

These are the guys I think get at least a cup of coffee that may surprise us and become regulars.
William Wallinder (probably becomes a regular but I think it takes some time)
Donovan Sebrango
Eemil Viro
Cross Hanas
Carter Mazur
Pontus Andreasson (He'd be the first guy named Pontus in the NHL)
Shai Buium
Jared McIsaac

The third tier of prospects are guys that I think have a lot of development runway left but I don't know about their NHL potential
Liam Dower-Nilsson (I think this kid will really surprise some of us wings fans in 3 or 4 years time)
Red Savage (I think he's got a good chance to be at least an AHLer)
Pasqual Zito
Dmitri Buchelnikov
Dylan James
Amadeus Lombardi

Players I think their window is closed or closing
Ethan Phillips
Robert Mastrosimone
Theodor Niederbach (unless he can have a really solid year in Rogle)
Antti Tuomisto
Kirill Tyutyayev
Jan Bednar

You think Johansson at #4 and Söderblom #7 are too low?

I think they should be #4 and #5, respectively. I guess Johansson's ranking is fine but Soderblom should be higher.
That makes Cossa 6? Wallinder 7? I’d argue that’s low for both of them. Cossa probably comes in at 3 on most lists, and Wallinder had a really impressive season.

Really just shows the depth of our prospect pool, to be fair.

Also, prospect ranks should be in order of the readiness to get to the NHL. Which, in that case, Cossa moves down the list a spot or two, for me.

I think that's fitting for both. I'm a huge fan of Wallinder but I think that realistically he's got about 3 seasons before he's a fulltimer with Detroit. 1 more in the SHL, 1 full AHL season and another where he's a part timer.

Cossa is another guy that I believe takes a really long time to get to the show, and for that reason alone I put him outside of the top 5. I'm ranking them not just on potential but by readiness as well.

I'd make readiness the tiebreaker if two prospects are very close in their perceived talent and potential.
Cossa's potential is a bit too high for me to rank him below guys with 2nd pairing or middle-6 upside.

Wallinder I'd personally probably rank ahead of Johansson/Söderblom, but they're close and I can see arguments for having them in any order.

Albert Johansson for sure has top 4 potential, and Soderblom has top 6 potential. As of right now Cossa is so raw that we don't know what he is. The HOPE is that he can become a superstar starting goalie like Vasilevsky but I don't know if that's in the cards. Goalies are really hard to gauge.

!!! I thought that there had never been a Pontus in the NHL!

I know its just semantics but I would actually be more surprised if a couple of those guys didnt make it as regulars. I dont think I would be surprised at all if Wallinder, Sebrango, Mazur were regulars at all. Thats not saying they will be but out of those 8 I would bet a couple make it

The probability may be small, but I still view Cossa and Edvinsson as the only two prospects we have with potential to be the best at their position at some point in their career.

Maybe we could have all discussion in one thread? Even though it's very Sweden heavy, I would include also Antti Tuomisto and Buchelnikov in here. Those are the only non-swedes.

Sweden:
C Theodor Niederbach - Rögle
LD William Wallinder - Rögle
C Marco Kasper - Rögle
C Liam Dower-Nilsson - Frölunda
RD Anton Johansson - Leksands U20
C Maximilian Kilpinen - Örebro U20
W Albin Grewe - Mora IK Allsvenskan
RD Gustav Berglund - ?

Finland
RD - Antti Tuomisto, TPS Turku

Russia
W - Dmitri Buchelnikov, SKA 1946 St. Petersburg U20 ?

What about Van Pottelberghe and Kadeykin? The Redwings don't hold their rights anymore?

Why separate Europe and North America? Can't think of any good reason to do that but maybe it's just me.

Look forward to seeing where Buchelnikov plays as the MHL may not be much of a challenge anymore, and what Kilpinen looks like as he's a bit of a mystery.
