This is too bad... I really thought we had something

He left Denver too early bummer

I don't think it was a development issue. I'm pretty sure he suffered a really severe groin tear either his last year in college or in GR and was never able to recover fully. He may have even had multiple tears over his career.

Ah, think Cossa could've gotten something on that 3rd goal. Winnipeg look poised to win game 2.

Save percentage won't reflect it but he did make some nice stops tonight.

Edit: nvm, overtime.

Edit II: Cossa made a couple of good stops in overtime before Edmonton won on an insane goal from Sourdif. Really good game tonight.

Edmonton seems to be dominating this series so far in terms of SOG, 131-70 after 3 games. I though Winnipeg was supposed to be the favorite and especially on offense?

They control possession pretty well and mitigate shots from outside. They give up a lot of odd man rushes though, and a lot of those shots come on the power play.

Matt Savoie also didn’t play for Winnipeg last night. I saw mention that Winnipeg is a heavy favorite, I get that but I think it’s a pretty even match-up.

I said that Winnipeg is likely the favorite because they were the top seed in the WHL and led the league in goals for, goals against, and obviously goal margin by a pretty substantial spread.

Led the league in goals for by 19
Led the league in goals against by 24.

They scored 165 more goals than they allowed. The next closest was Edmonton at 113.

Pretty clearly Winnipeg should be the favorite statistically speaking, although Edmonton did win 3 of their 4 regular season matchups between the two teams. All 3 wins came with Cossa as the starter, the one loss he did not start.

Yeah it's a very good point, Winnipeg can definitely burn barns down and they have a nice blueline and goaltender combo. Personally I think the series is a bit closer than the stats suggest because Edmonton made some big adds at the deadline and have a bit more experience with guys like Neighbours, Sourdif, and Guhle, plus good D+1 players like Guenther and Cossa. Like I think if this current, post TDL Edmonton roster played the whole season they'd be closer to Winnipeg in the standings.

I definitely agree with you on Winnipeg's firepower though, they're one of the best teams in the CHL.

A lot of people said okay show me it against Winnipeg. Savoie going down is obviously unfortunate. This isn't just his stacked team, Cossa is pretty legit. Now I wasn't a guy that needed to be sold and I get people will want more on the sv%. 11-1 about to be 12-1 and he does timely saves too. Pretty excited by what we have here, I think he is still a ways off goalies take some time, but man this looks pretty legit.

He's really getting peppered....hopefully he can withstand Winnipeg's barrage! Lol, but good on him for closing things out. That's all we can ask for!

Good for Cossa. He needs to improve on his .909 save percentage though considering he is only playing at the junior level.
Well normally it will always look a little worse than it actually is... Edmonton doesn't give up a ton of shots so he has to be nearly perfect to keep looking good lol
