Some news off twitter recently

@TSNRyanRishaug: Sources say Lecavalier and his agent will meet directly with teams over the next 3-5 days, and will take time in making decision.
https://twitter.com/TSNRyanRishaug

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Sense is that Vincent Lecavalier will have shortlist of teams drawn up by tonight or tomorrow morning; either way, pre-draft...

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: ... could be down to 1 or 2 teams by draft time...

Maybe he should say that he hates his team and players and buy everybody out like Holmgren and trade great contracts like Richards and Carter as far as possible and finalize his greatness by trading his best goalie in system (Bobrovsky) out.

Then everybody would love how great and active Ken Holland was. He was a MAN. Not lady that likes his team.

Maybe he should not say anything And let his actions do the talking. Every year you get the same speech, even as fans all go into every summer saying, "no, he has cap space he will spend it". And every deadline saying "we saved all this cap space so we can make moves at the deadline" every year and nothing happens and Holland gives the same speech. This year, he has cap space, cheaper options with prospects that will allow him to buy out veterans, and he has legitimate superstars looking for places to play. There is no excuse to do nothing, none. But somehow I get the feeling that's exactly what will happen. Sorry, vinny lecavalier is worth 5/yr, he's a legit second line center, and brings an element of size this team needs. How can you not pay him that but pay Filppula or Weiss the same or more? It's a no brainier. But unlike others I am not getting my hopes up.

Am I the only one okay with giving him 3 years at like 6 to even 6.5 per??? If Filppula/Weiss are looking for 5 and Horton/Clarkson 5 to 5.5 wouldn't 6 or even 6.5 be worth every cent?? What is a half or a full million more in the long run because he is in a whole different class than ANY of those guys.

And on top of Vinny being Vinny, you get a big guy who isn't afraid to stick up for a teammate and will dig the puck out of corners even if he isn't putting up crazy numbers. If he is hurt, u have a veteran mentor and great community guy besides. Spend it.

If they end up not signing Lecavalier out of fear of overpayment of $500k or something, I'll be pissed.

Holland's overpaying Samuelsson. He overpaid for Quincey. He's overpaying Bertuzzi. He's overpaying Tootoo. He had no problem giving Colaiacovo $2.5m/year.

But he can't make room for Lecavalier, a real difference-maker?

You're gonna get angry because Holland didn't block Calle Jarnkrok by overpaying for a soon to be 34 year old Center whose offense is in the decline stage and doesn't play very good defense either?

Stop. Aren't you pushing for Holland to sign Jagr?

Are you using the same statistical methods to project Jarnkrok's 40-50 points at the NHL level next year?

Why are you trying to derail this conversation with a red herring?

But to give you satisfaction, I don't have much information outside of what the Brass has stated about him and his accomplishments overseas. But this has nothing to do with Jagr.

Or maybe he can stop signing washed up garbage and let some of the "amazing prospects" (Ken Holland's words) play.

The guy is a walking contradiction.

Hawks just won their second cup in four years and they didnt do it because they brought in a bunch of overpaid veterans.

Play

The

Kids

Smith is a year behind
Tatar is a year behind
Nyquist is a year behind

All thanks to Kenny and his obsession with fossils.

The Wings signed 1 veteran last off season, Chicago signed 2.

Unless you have a crystal ball, you have no idea if those kids are ahead or behind in terms of development, in Tatar and Nyquist's cases they may have grown more in the Calder Cup run than they would have by playing a season earlier in the NHL.

We just had a playoff run where we had the maximum # of rookie's we could possibly use playing.

Short of Holland being fired, stepping down or being promoted is there anything he could do at all that would make you happy?

Those kids would have never played if his offseason acquisition's/Bert had stayed healthy. I am not giving Holland any credit for playing the kids when he originally had no plans to play them. Tatar looked good before he was sent down. Unfortunately Danny Cleary needed the roster spot more, so Tatar didnt get to stay with the Wings. Holland has done a pitiful job and the Wings went to the second round in spite of Holland's best efforts.

He would have loved playing Sammy over Nyquist.

If I were you Flashy, I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of a conversation. I doubt anything will make him happy.

There's no statistal data to not sign Lecavalier. He makes the Wings harder to play against with his size, reach and experience. He's not 38 or 41 either. On a line with Franzen and either Tatar or Nyquist there would be endless open ice for whichever kid. I can't find one argument against signing Lecavalier. Jarnkrok will be fine. Effects him zero.

Śorry if I don't believe Ken Holland is god.

Apparently the best GM in the NHL signs Sammy/CC and the next year they are prime candidates for being bought out.

The best GM in the NHL also holds onto assets, so he can lose them via FA and get nothing in return. Hudler, Flip, White.

I will be happy when Ken Holland starts doing a good job.

Jarnkrok is *probably* not even on the team until after another season.

And Helm is still a big question mark.

There's nothing wrong with having strong as hell center depth. If it comes to it, just pair Z/D together. Boom, problem solved.

I have one. When LeCavalier is on the ice, teams are controlling the puck more, getting more shots on goal than he and his linemates. When LeCavalier is on the ice, opponents are averaging 3 goals every 60 minutes, or 1 goal every 20 minutes. To put it short, the opponent is in control of the game more than Lecavalier and his linemates are. There's a net loss when he's on the ice. He's also 33, has been injured the last several years, and his scoring is gonna go into decline.

If Holland wanted Sammy to play over Nyquist he would have sent Nyquist down. Lets be honest you're not going to give Holland credit for anything regardless of what happens ever.

If he signs Lecavalier we signed another fossil blocking Jarnkrok's path the NHL, if he doesn't sign him its because he lowballed him.

And who are these linemates with whom Lecavalier is that bad?

Vinny is high end talent. You make room for those players. You don't screw your prospects over for washed up veterans who are above average talent on a good night.

Holland would have sent Nyquist down if Sammy didnt tear his groin picking flowers. The fact that both Tatar and Nyquist didn't play the entire season for the Wings is a joke.

I'm not trying to convince you he's a god, I'm trying to convince you he's not the devil.

Signing Sammy turned out to be a mistake and one he's looking to fix. It could be far worse though, he could have signed them to long term deals that would have Illitch paying them for the next decade and a half.

Sammy came off injury reserve several times and in each instance Holland had an opportunity to prove your theory right, yet it was Lashoff who was sent back not Nyquist.

He had no choice. Sammy was hurt the entire season and looked out of sorts the few games he played.

If you go back last year and Holland can pick a healthy Sammy or a healthy Nyquist, Holland picks Sammy every time.

Maybe at the beginning of the season he would have, but as I said he had several chances later in the season to choose between a healthy Sammy and a healthy Nyquist and he chose Nyquist every time.

Now he's talking about buying out Sammy and has assured Nyquist a spot on the Wings next year and you're still complaining.
