Flint just played at 7pm last night. Windsor had yesterday off. This is why it’s 4. Not much time in between games for the firebirds

It's not a long distance btwn Flint and Windsor, though. I think it was last season that the Spitfires did Erie Saturday night and Kitchener Sunday at 2pm or something. That's a 3.5-4hr drive. I KNOW they've done Erie Saturday night and Niagara Sunday at 2pm, which is a 2-2.5hr drive on a good day.

Later in day..
Assuming that most would be lions fans in Windsor- 25 minutes later isn’t a big difference (4:25 in GB today)

It’s not optimal sure but it’s easier for flint who just played last night giving them 2 extra hours to prepare.

There was a lot of 3 in 3s with Kingston last year and they had a 7pm Friday game followed by a 7pm Saturday game and then the 2pm Sunday game and for that Sunday game they’d look dead midway through the game.

4 pm Sunday time is still horrible time..

What start time would you prefer? I know they used to be 2pm start times. When I was in high school I believe they were 6pm start times which I used to like but as a procrastinator, was terrible for me getting any work done on the weekend for school.

The season ticket fans get a survey at the end of the season and some of these changes are coming from what they have asked for. More Saturday games and later start times on Sundays. Can't please everyone.

It's unfortunate how many Thursdays are without Spitfires hockey in comparison to how it was. I haven't had season tickets in about 8-10 years now so they must have started those surveys after that time. I guess I'm just nostalgic for those times.

You're never going to please everyone for the start times. Personally, I like Thursdays at 705p and Sundays at 405p with my schedule. Saturday's are tougher; I generally have to bolt before the game's done. But, it is what it is and you adjust.

Another impressive performance by the Spits limiting Flint to just 17 shots today and 21 on Friday,as Windsor completed their sweep of the weekend series vs the Firebirds allowing just 1 goal by Joey Costanzo in those same 2 games.
Goals by Liam Greentree, Ethan Martiin Aj Spellacy and Tnais Mathurin paced the win. For Martin it was actually his 1st of the year and the winner to boot, matching last year's total of 1 game winner as well as he became the 9th Spitfire to register a winning goal so far as the Spits are now 12-2-1 after 15 games played.
Interesting both Liam Greentree and Ryan Abraham leading point getters for year so far Greentree with 29 points and Abraham with 17 tied with Protas in points have yet to
register a game winning goal so far this season and Protas has 1 so far.
Nesbitt leads with 3,while Morneau has registered 2 game winners and 7 guys have 1 to make up the 9 players with winners.
Joey Costanzo though rarely tested today is now 12-1 on the season, has allowed only 4 goals against in his last 4 games total quite something.
This team thus far very committed to playing D when needed besides scoring to win games, they currently sit 1st on the PP and have moved up to 5th in the PK department after this weekend 's sum of work.
3 games this coming week ,Thursday hosting North Bay,Saturday at Saginaw and then back here Sunday afternoon vs Peterborough.
Go Spits Go.
One thing I meant to mention
As we speak the Spits currently lead the league in goals for and also lead the league in goals against with the fewest allowed 34 + 3 empty netters against 37 in total, that's what I call playing both sides of the rink, hope it continues so far very good.

Good win no doubt but damn other than a few minutes of quality play thot was some bad boring hockey. For most of the game neither team looked interested in being there. I can write it off because they won but it will take 60 min of good hockey to win games later this season. They showed just how good they can be in those few minutes they did play! Id love to see just how good when they play a complete game.
Ive been very vocal about the D, it’s significantly better and most of that is just some proper coaching. The forwards being responsible certainly helps! Id still really like to see a D man with 2 years left come here. A bigger body too. Our smaller guys struggled to keep the slot clear regularly.
Team is certainly rolling cant wait to see how they progress! Also eager to see those missing rookies!

Spits lead the OHL in goals scored and have conceded the fewest goals. Considering how bad they were defensively last year, the difference is stunning. Especially considering it's basically the same defense core with the addition of Mathurin and Hicks. The offense has cooled, but we are playing some weak defensive teams next weekend, so I expect plenty of goals.

Only 15 games in, but this squad seems more dangerous than the two previous seasons with Savard because his teams did not play defense. This squad can win with offense and defense. Agreed with the others they should add an '06 d-man that will be here next season. It's already November so time for GMs to start making decisions.

It felt like they kind of played down to Flint...

The Good:

- You outshoot a team 11-2 in the first period, not allowing a shot until the 14min mark, you're doing something right.
- Greentree with a goal and helper. The first goal was a thing of beauty.
- Spellacy with an impressive solo effort for a goal. Once he gets going, good luck stopping him.
- Martin played one of his better games; a goal, some physical play. No real complaints.
- Cristoforo and Mathurin lead the team with +2. Don't look now, but Cristoforo is 66 points better this season on his plus-minus.
- Costanzo was sharp when he had to be. That's all they need from him sometimes.

The bad:

- The Flint goal... a spin-around, shoot high glove goal. Not much you can do about that.
- After 11 first-period shots, just 14 the rest of the way. It felt like they held back, borderline nonchalant in the second.

When you beat a team 4-1 and outshoot them like that, there aren't many individual negatives. It wasn't the most exciting game but they're not all going to be like that. Take the two points and move onto the next, which I believe it Thurs against Bronson Ride and NB.

As for what to add - there was some talk before the game and I think the general consensus was either staying pat or adding someone who can return next season. An 05 or 06 stay-at-home D would be ideal. Some floated Andrew Gibson's name around, too. You have to think that Bowler's looking at this team and thinking something really good could come from it.

I went to the Spits game tonight. Thoughts:

- Most of the 1st and 2nd periods was kinda boring lol. Everything after that sick Greentree goal was a lot of misplays, bad passes and lower effort stuff as some people in here said.
- They turned it up in the 3rd period and that Spellacy goal was also very nice. Once again good game for Nathan Day who did the best he could to keep it interesting until the dam broke after the Martin goal.
- I was surprised they started Costanzo today but was not disappointed because he played very well. I think someone with the team who should get way more credit right now is Stan Matwijiw. He has really turned Costanzo around and he is a polar opposite to what he was last year very good job from him.
- I feel like someone like Morgan, Stewart or Brocklehurst should be called up and playing right now since the young guys are gone for a couple games but it seems they opted to do the 11/7 strategy which is fine but idk I wish they used them a bit right now lol
- Speaking of the young guys, I heard Belchetz and Lemieux did good in their first games of the tournament so thats good.
- As for trades, I agree that the priority should be a decent Top 2/Top 4 D. As for who it should be idk it depends on if they get a guy who will be back next year. Also to me it depends on if any of the not as good teams try trading their better D for assets. I kinda like guys like Henry Mews or Cam Allen or something
- Next week is NBAY, SAG (again) and PETE, I can see us getting 4/6 but dont underestimate those teams. Also I'm shocked at how long it is until we play London finally. That'll be funny. Go Spits Go!
