I imagine the current players signed to a CHL contract our bound to the end of their junior eligibility before jumping NCAA. It will also be critical to be known as a OHL team who produces a lot of NHL players over their history to help draw a US 16-17 year old to tge CHL even though path will include NCAA. The CHL players are going to be heavily recruited which coukd be a distraction during a season as the NCAA signs kids as a free agent basically.
Isn't every OHL team pretty much renewing education packages on a year to year basis? For example and yes an extreme one. Ethan Martin has a very small role at times a healthy scratch. If a smaller NCAA school eg. Bama Huntsville or Lindenwood wanted him. He's probably not an OA he will jump. This example is more for next year if you're 19 and not signed and maybe a bubble OA. Those guys will probably leave. I expect a school like Arizona St to thrive in this environment for obvious reasons.

The standard OHL contract is 4 years. Once 1 regular season game is played in the season a year worth of the education "scholarship " kicks in fir another year. Rights would be 4 years unless the team relinquish rights or "trades" rights.

Sure but these players can still play NCAA for 4 years. Wouldn't the CHL contract become useless? NCAA schools have 25 scholarships a year now.

How it plays out with new CHL contracts signed after Aug 1 2025 may differ. NCAA and CHL teams may have a mutual interest in developing a player in high school with hopes they committ to the NCAA . Don't think for a second that LONDON's wheels are turning already. Slippery slope. CHL draft rights from the USA are limited to geographic location currentlybut NCAA will be nation wide. The big question is will young USA born players Start coming over to play a couple of years CHL? I can see Canadian kids now staying in Canada now that they can go NCAA as an option. Not sure this whole decision affects more than late development players or high prospects that didn't get drafted from the OHL. Then again no transfer agreement with the NHL AND NCAA so great prospects may still go NCAA knowing they can be AHL eligible at 18 should they choose. The CHL/NHL transfer agreement is in place until 2028. For now lol.

Just looking through a few things, the Spitfires have...

2008 - D Andrew Robinson and D Sam Wathier who are both NCAA commits, along with F Drake Gram.

2007 - Easton Pace is listed with the Tri City Storm USHL and is a Colorado commit.

I don't know who else would be a consideration, or if the guys above would even consider it.

Spits already have 4 08's on the roster so that won't be an option. Spits could use more quality 07's.

If they come to LONDON as you bolded thats on other teams not selling the advantages of their orgs. and if they are good enough to play pro they won't even go ncaa after their D+1\2 year.
And memories short........I recall a pro player being returned to Windsor in a championships year. DM.
Have a program kids/agents/advisors respect n it's a non issue.
Do more to point out positives of your org.
PT .
Facilities,
Staff.
Billets.
Whatever.

All these things matter and can be controlled by the team.

Hats off to London always pulling rabbits out of the hat with normally lower draft positions due to success most seasons. Windsor has had a few as well. The bigger baddest GMs will tweak this new development. I'm hoping Bowler is one of them. He sure made a splash US side this past draft.

I would like to see Bowler approach all 4 players you mentioned 1-07 in Easton Pace a center man and dman Drake Gram who was a teammate of Ethan Garden at Little Caesars last year as well as dman Andrew Robinson an O8 currently playing on the same team as goalie Michael Newlove,he is having a great rookie season 18 points in 22 games, was a rookie camp in Windsor this year but didn't show at main camp, along with Gram who was at rookie camp but not main.
Pace was at rookie camp last year but not main as he committed to Colorado College.
Sam Wathier the other player listed would be one I would talk too as well, guess we will what happens if I had it my way would love too see Pace and Robinson here next season.

Wasn't fun watching Thursday game vs North Bay but need those type of lessons along the way to get better, no team in this league is easy and you'll need a full 60 most nights to get the W, atleast it was an eastern conference team and hopefully learn from that and come out hungry tonight.

Hope to see a bounce back from Costanzo tonight, not that Thursday lost was all his fault but sure he wants to be better. Expecting Froggett tomorrow.

Brocklehurst debut, excited for that. He has been solid with the vipers, not expecting to much in his first game but would be happily surprised if he has a strong game. Im sure he is pumped.

Need a strong effort from The puck drop tonight.

Go spits Go!!!
