What is the deal with Christopoulos? They said he would miss the first 1-2 weeks of the season. Almost a month in and no sign of him?

This game could get ugly like the preview few. It is disappointing not one minor change was made after last week's embarrassment. Lets' just hope they can keep this one within 5 goals in front of this big crowd.

I've been hearing late Oct since the season started.

Pretty damn solid effort. Different team and effort this week more of what i expected this team to be this year. Needed the win big time. Close to a full 60 minute game with JC solidly holding the fort during short lapses. Funny, team definitely didn't miss Abraham. Only blight on the night was our stellar OA D playing forward tells the tale on 77's value. Took stupid penalties killing a couple of PP opportunities. Sorry for the poke during a great victory but the stupidness stood out too much to be ignored.

There's a scene in Bull Durham when Joe Riggins is talking to Crash Davis. Joe doesn't know how to get through to his team Crash Davis says they're young kids scare em. Right now Smith is a toothless coach and doesn't have much credibility. Needs to change asap.

Great flik!

A solid win but it's nothing to get too excited about considering they remain in last place. This win should boost their confidence against a Saginaw team in a contending season. The defense was a bit better, seemed to be clearing the front of the net better. The biggest difference was Costanzo, made some big saves. Eichler was a +3, probably his best game.
Dionicio was dancing around Spirit players all game and making all kinds of great plays. One of the best games I've seen from him. Greentree looks great and now has 13 points to lead all draft-eligible players.

Saginaw looks off. They rely too much on Sapovaliv, Misa and Haight. Gonna need to spend all those 2nd's to add a lot more.

Some thoughts...

- Easily the best overall 60 they've played this season.
- Greentree is already a beast. A three point effort and made it look easy at times.
- Peer and Dionicio continue to impress. Keep Peer/Greentree together, please.
- Maillet found his game with a point and a plus-3. Just gotta get him doing that consistently.
- Colton Smith with a nice goal on a breakaway. Again, when he's on, he's good. When he's not, "who?"
- Costanzo was his 2022-23 version all night, making some massive stops that he would have allowed a week ago. This is the Joey we need as often as possible.
- Worth noting - props to Cristoforo for making a save of his own in the crease in the second period.
- I liked Jodoin's game tonight. I've been critical of his lack of physical play this season but tonight he defended a teammate and got involved a couple of other times. Sure, he took roughing penalties but I'd rather he sticks up for someone than it goes ignored. That's why he's here; that police presence. Let the penalty killers do their job.
- Eichler plays a simple but effective game. He didn't look out of place, was throwing some body, and was a plus-3.
- While I wish Cole Davis found the net more, he's throwing that small frame around with no care for his own safety. It's fun to watch.
- Overall, the team got a nice lead, had a bit of a hiccup, but managed to steady the ship. That hasn't happened much at all this season and it's a solid step forward.

I'm trying to find some negatives tonight, aside from letting it go from 3-0 to 3-2, but this was the game they needed. Goals? Plentiful. Defence? The best they've been this season. Goaltending? A much-needed rock. Defending each other? Check! Only a few players were a minus tonight but they had minimal shifts.

Get back to practice this week and get ready for a busy weekend.

Best game of season by far! So we know they can play well…. They played real good hockey for about half the game. The rest? Still best of year but not what i seen in first 30 min. Sag seemed frustrated after first, that messed them up some. Imho first period was damn good hockey from both teams. Still struggled to clear the zone and crease at times. Joey was on! Id agree, about what I expected from this group. Now that weve seen they can compete the question is, where has it been so far??? Savard and Kass visited the room pre game did they get a pep talk? Id be hard pressed to think thats all it took. Solid effort last night truly hope theres more of that to come.

Windsor won a game.
Offence was improved.
Greentree lead the way.
Goalie played better. Showed confidence.
Defense hasn't changed. Still not physical, little coverage. Running around too much.

The post-game interviews suggested that they hit "rock bottom" last weekend and made sure practice was as serious as possible during the week. Wouldn't be shocked if someone talked to them, too.

Shouldn't they have done that when season started??

I would agree with much of this. Much needed win. Not sure how much we can draw from this game. I think we know more next week 3 in 3. Ottawa, Sarnia, Niagara. Soft part of schedule only playing 1 game in 11 days.

The theme of last nights game was the Taylor Swift ticket giveaway. I watched the game on TV so didn’t see if anyone won the pair of tickets and so far today haven’t heard IF anyone won the tickets. It seems odd that no mention has been made. Strange to say the least.

They did the drawing on the big screen live during the third period.

Thanks. It looked like a nice crowd and they were treated to a good game.
Decent crowd.
Back to normal on Thursday..

It was one of the louder crowds of the season. Just under 5k and they were right into the TSwift stuff. Props to the team for the idea.
Only loud from the females. Wasn't from the actual hockey...

Agree with most of what you opined re Windsor, think Jodoin will be odd man out once Christopoulis returns as soon as this coming week.
Costanzo with his best game of the early season and exhibition season too, much needed, nice to see allow only 1-5 on 5 goal last night, will be nice to Christopoulis back in the lineup upfront particularly on the PP where he scored 11 PP goals to lead the team last year in that category.
Only 1 game but real good to build on moving forward hopefully game and results confidence builder for Costanzo.
This coming week with 3 in 3 nights, with 2 of them at home both against Eastern Conference teams split up with a road game at Sarnia will be interesting and a good test.
Will be expecting to see Christopoulis, Abraham back in plus the return of Nesbitt Friday at Sarnia from suspension hopefully both Abraham and Christopoulis Thursday, if not Friday coinciding with return of Nesbitt.

Best game of the Season was Vs Saginaw. The Spitfires Showed Patience with the puck, Smart Decision making with and without the puck, Also a better overall Two-Way game. Costanzo played they way we needed him too and hopefully we see it more games then not the rest of the way this season.

Can this Effort be put in on a game to game basis is the question. Nothing is given in this league and the spitfires are already in a hole early. They need to come to play every night as a team and with Structure. Play with a purpose! IF they can play with the Effort and Play smart hockey here they can definitely make this a competitive season, Definitely hoping to watch meaningful hockey down the stretch this season.

Tough game on Thursday, We will see if the same Effort is given or if they fall back into the same habits and lackluster effort. Consistency is needed!!

Go Spits Go!!
