Bowler needs to do everything he can and try and get Jakub Chromiak here. Sudbury just upgraded their import with a 10th overall NHL pick, making him available. Chromiak is a good young defenseman who played in the world juniors. This is his draft year. This is exactly what this team needs. A good opportunity to trade a vet for a young player.

Also Juan Copeland was put on waivers by London, another decent player that could help. Hard to imagine Bowler doesn't do anything in these next couple of weeks, considering this has been the worst team in the CHL.
Bowler already has made 1 great trade with Sudbury re the DeAngilis deal in terms of return, how do know if he isn't trying to work out a deal for Chromiak, seeing the info just came out re Sudbury bringing in another Euro.
As for Copeland assuming waivers is correct I would hope Bowler is in on this player,05 born winger with some grit, not big but gritty.
Also should mention according to a source, don't be surprised if Winger Colton Smith is dealt to Oshawa soon, makes sense to me,Oshawa did have his father DJ as head coach and won Mem Cup with him there,Tulio and Spits owners now part of Senators team with Andlauer inownwrship amongst others.
Should note re Copeland he still is listed on Knights roster according to OHL website.
How that impacts waivers I don't know.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. For the record - I like Smith's potential. When he's on, he's physical, gets in your face, and puts up some points. Unfortunately, he's been mostly off and there are nights where I wonder if he's even on the bench.

At this stage the old saying beggars can’t be choosers comes into play. Hopefully something can be done that will improve the team for the long run.

I don't understand why Dionicio is considered an import... he was born in New Jersey.

I believe it's where his parents/guardians primarily reside, which is Switzerland. He moved there when he was young and gained dual citizenship. He represented the Swiss at the WJC last season.

As for Eichler - the kid's been here barely a month (I think Thurs is the one-month mark), just had mono, and is getting used to the league. I'm going to give him a bit of the benefit of the doubt right now. If we have a chance to upgrade, then maybe look at it, but...

Eichler is 46 days younger than Chromiak
Chromiak most likely is getting drafted. Eichler isn't on any draft radar.I imagine there's a reason for that. We don't have to go over Bowler and the import draft.

OHLTG,
I know you like scraps... Head over to the Knights thread to see video of Xhekaj and Boulton. You guys have any tough guys? Maybe we can return to the good ole days.

That was a helluva tilt!

Does Windsor have any tough guys? It's tough to say. Dionicio, Jodoin, and Smith can all throw but how would they fare against the heavies? I don't know. They also have Wolton, Spellacy, Martin, and Winegard, who are all 6'3+, but can they throw? Haven't seen it yet. With that said, this version of the Spitfires seems more likely to engage than the previous two seasons, so that's a good thing if it's done correctly.

I'm trying to honestly remember when we had a fight like Xhe/Boulton... and it's tough.

Hatcher vs Douglas a few years back was insane. 6'3 vs 6'9. Both guys landed some bombs. Probably best tilt I've seen live.

Thanks for the clarification on Dionicio.

If Chromiak might be a good fit here and might be available, perhaps we see if there are any takers for Dionicio. More picks maybe?

Our import picks have not worked out well for a while. Add Starikov, Hebek, Piroinen to the list
It's difficult to bring in an NHL prospect in the import draft considering they have been picking 50th the past few seasons. Also a lot harder since no Russians can be drafted. If they can't bring in a notable player in the import draft this year then it will be an issue.

Another Game Day! (Lets Hope the Players Know that)

Hope the Boys show up on time tonight!, I Am Expecting the Loss but always Hopeful for a Much Needed Win. Were going down a Steep Slope here and if something does not happen and fast this seasons hope of a playoff spot will be all but gone. Big Players on this team need to step up, No way a second year player like Greentree should be leading this team into Battle every night. Two goals up or 5 goals down I don't care what the score is, your playing in the Best junior league in the World and the players on this team need to show the effort and competence out there like they want to be here. Not a structured team game at all out there, to many Individuals not playing smart hockey. That Stuff might work in minor hockey but not in this league to often. Best Team usually wins at this level, not saying the Spitfires all that great this season but bad habits and Structure in every game so far, its been hard to find a complete period yet let alone a full game!

Hope to see a different team tonight, a little more urgency and care out there is needed. Costanzo is definitely not fully at fault but he has some share in this, He just hasn't looked like the same goalie out there in terms of Calmness and Positionally, last year he was just on top of it and some of these goals he would have stopped, Now I am sure mentally its been tough this season and goalies are delicate sometimes. He just needs to find his groove again and hope the players in front of him start showing some more care in playing a Two- Way game. The Joey from last year is in there somewhere I Believe. We sure as hell need him!

Should see a full Barn tonight, Most will be Disappointed when the Swift tickets are gone to a young Girl (as it should) and realize this was all to just to put bums in the Seats. I highly doubt they do this as a pure luck draw and give everyone a fair shake. But I've been wrong before and sure will be again haha. They will probably wait till the 2nd Intermission at least so it looks like a full crowd until then.

Anyways Good Luck Spitfires!
We are Going to need it for sure!😂

He’s felt like a favor since he got here. Constantly feels a step behind. I hope he’s not trying his best evernight, because from the stands it looks like he plays two different games.

He has potential, just seems like he’s not fully in.

Probably draw the tickets with less than 10 min left in 3rd. That way they get people to spend money at 2nd intermission for the high priced food.

Most draws wait until the first intermission, at the very earliest, anyway. Generally, they're late second period or into the third. That gives everyone a chance to get to the game, get their stuff, and get settled in.

I was looking at some stats just now (curiosity) - Between regular season and preseason, the Spitfires have given up <4 goals just once. The goaltender that night - Carter Froggett. Game one of the preseason.
