Battle of the basement today. Nice to see it almost sold out.

Sarnia has had the Spits number for a couple of years so hopefully Spits can pull one off. With a similar effort as the last few games they should be ok. Spits need a win in regulation to jump to 9th. Mixed thoughts on that but in the end seeming them competitive again is more important than losing every night. With the trade deadline looming best to enjoy this while we can.

Looking at the staff directory I see Newburys name there as assistant coach but Perry Wilson is not listed there? Was this nothing more than a rumor he was hired back?

Should be an interesting game today, agree with you regarding the competitive comment,Sting at the 14 game mark were 8-6,7 points up on Windsor, since then they have gone 4-15-1,and Windsor trails them by a point.
Windsor is 3-1-1,in the last 5,5-2-1 in the last 8,7-4-1 in the last 12 with 8 of those 12 on the road.
Ryan Abraham has come alive now has 9 points in his last 5,including 5 goals,Peer has 10 points in his last 5 games including 6 goals,Greentree has 4 and 4 in the same stretch.
On the D should mention Mancini is a +9 in the last 12 games since coaching change best by far.
In goal I expect Michelone to get the start vs the Sting, and even though it was a road game he is the only goalie to beat Sarnia this year,it's is turn anyways,a solid game for him would mean a start Wednesday at home vs Flint, his former team.
Lineup changes,I say Toms in for Winegard, as he is -4 in his last 2 games.
Go Spits Go.

Hard to understand Wingard in over Tons. Both have struggled but Toms does bring a bit of experience at it.

And that’s why I’d lean Winegard. Tom’s is struggling to get in this year, safe to assume he won’t be an OA next year.

I can’t really remember a time we went and acquired so many guys that can’t crack the lineup, especially since they aren’t rookies.

Not that we paid a ton, but Toms, Castle, Struthers have all been consistently out a while.
Castle appeared healthy, and I saw him wandering around the Dow last night with another (presumable) Spit that I didn’t recognize, which isn’t saying much with who’s scratched.

I’m regretting not snagging tickets for today. Didn’t wanna deal with the border on NYE, but a packed house is rare thing with our spot in the standings.

My bold prediction is Windsor takes a dominating W In game 3 of 3 on the weekend.

Not a great performance by any stretch but not every game is going to be. They're finding ways to get the goals and, when the buzzer sounds, the OHL doesn't count "pretty points."
Especially with some defense...

Considering it was a home game, Sting without 2 imports at WJC along with Coach, not a God performance by the Spits. Michelone held them in early and the Spits blew a 3-0 lead. Abraham playing well, but the usual suspects defensively showed up and the game was evened up quickly.

That loss was well earned. Too many players are telling on themselves. Also at the end of the game all 3 players around Michelone and not one goes and consoles him or a stick tap. I don't want to hear about how good guys are in the room. Those are actions of players who are indifferent. It's ok if you lose, it's ok if you win. Not enough players understand how hard it is to win.

hutchison was bad…..think he got 3 assists today for the visitors
My TV source didn’t carry today’s game but it sounded like Abraham got called for hooking with less than 2 seconds to go in a tie game. It must have been blatant to get called that close to the end. Will leave that for someone who watched it live.

Sting player had the puck going up the boards. Abraham was trying to squeeze by and get to the puck. He grabbed the players shoulder and reaching with his stick.

Thoughts on the game...

- Solid 3-0 lead to start. In front of a nearly sold-out (if not sold-out) crowd, that's how you want to play.
- Giving up the 3-0 lead... can't happen. They allowed two goals in two minutes, both less than three minutes after the third Spitfires goal. That kills your momentum.
- Michelone looked good in the first and I don't think he looked bad overall.
- Outside of the late penalty, it was a solid effort from Abraham. Nobody's going to complain about two goals (I'd hope).
- Going 0/3 on the PP doesn't help anything. In a close game like that, you have to capitalize.
- I'm not going to say much on the officials. You can hate them, you can say the Spits deserved everything and more, or you can find some middle ground. When you see Hutchison's name come up, you know what you're going to get.
- 6,415 attendance; highest this season and highest since London on Mar. 25.
- Games like this you live and learn. You have a lead, you need to put the foot on the gas. They didn't and it cost them. There were some solid drivers and a few passengers and now you have to correct that. It's going to take time but at least it was a fairly competitive game.

Looking through the goals against...

1. Point shot on the PP, rebound goes to Mancini, who swipes but misses. Puck is there for the Sting player to bang home.
2. Walton has a guy in the corner, Cristoforo is watching glove side. Filak goes blocker side and tap in.
3. Young really pinches, gets the puck behind the net, comes out to the side, and puts it glove side.
4. Puck goes from blocker side to that side corner. Maillet/Woodall/Walton are watching that player. Pass goes to the slot and nobody touches the guy in front.
5. Turnover at the Windsor blue-line. Puck goes into the corner, Brown cruises in from the top of the slot. Wide open at the top of the crease and puts a pass high glove.
6. PP, puck goes to the point, he skates in uncontested and snaps a shot off the glove side post and in.

Bad defense decisions on all of them. Common theme..

This isn't going to be fixed in a weekend. You're going to have poor periods or games mixed into the great periods or games. As long as they keep trending up, and earning points, it's going to work out. They've got six-of-eight possible points in their last four, which is a nice step.

Same issues r showing up games..
