Would you happen to know where Windsor ranked heading into the season in the category of "returning goals"? I'm trying to figure out if that's a relevant category for forecasting a team's success (or failure).
Lack of returning goals has caused Kitchener to be where they are in the overall standings.

WINDSOR
We have a culmination of 2 forces merging together. A inept coaching staff combined with a team of players most of which are not OHL caliber players. Some say Smith has no talent to work with. That is true but why does he show zero emotion when a ref gives him the gears over a questionable call. How about losing your mind just once to show the team you're not a stiff. Same with players. Team gets down a few how about a fight to spark the team or at least make an effort. Notta nothing. Any player with real heart will want out the sooner the better. This isn't a rebuild, those I can handle. Debacle comes to mind

To be fair, Windsor's had no issue scoring goals. Keeping them out is an entirely different story.

A coaching change needs to be made. I refuse to believe Cristoforo forgot how to play defense. Every game when he is on the ice, the goal happens right in front of him. He is standing about 5 feet away from the opponent who usually has an open net tap in. They seem to be playing more of a zone, looks like a box +1 defense. They need to switch to some sort of man-on-man coverage. It appeared Michelone pulled himself from the game. The defense is putrid but the goaltending is just as bad. Bring in the rookie goalie who was unreal in the preseason.

The team isn't good but a big part of the defensive issues is coaching, there is no doubt about it. Coaching is huge in the OHL. Look at Kitchener last year, they had a stacked roster and finished as the #8 seed, they got a real coach this year and are #1. From what I understand all season the mantra has been to stick to the systems. Here's an idea: revamp your systems. Smith is in oveer his head and has no business remaining the head coach.

At this point, not making a coaching change shows to the fans you don't care. You can't keep allowing 8-11 goals once per week and expect people to be ok with it. The organization should be incredibly happy 4800 people showed up tonight and over 5,000 will be at Saturday's game. They are going to lose the fan base if no changes are made to the coaching. There was a lot of unhappy, fed up season ticket holders venting in the concourse. Fire The COACH!

I'll type more later but, regarding the new guys...

I like their game in the little we've seen. Mancini is calm back there, throws the body a bit, knows what to do. It took him a bit to get going and that's understandable, but it sounds like the coaches like his style. Zhugin goes right to the net and creates chances. He's not big by any stretch but has no fear and could have had a couple of goals tonight.

Again, very small sample size and likely nerves played a part in their games, but... so far okay.

On pace to allow just under 400 goals. Niagara allowed 355 last year. The entire coaching staff needs to be fired now or this will go down as one of the worst teams in OHL history. The entire CHL is laughing at the Spitfires organization. Would Braidy Wassilyn even report here with this coaching staff? My guess is no. Pretty much ruining the reputation of some of these players by allowing all these goals and seeing a -4 beside every player in the bos score each night. This can't go on.

Outscored 28-3 in the last three home games. Now have to play Kitchener Friday and Saturday, then five straight games on the road. This losing streak could easily hit 15 games, or more. Wondering if this squad will even win 10 games this season...

At least Dionicio is +5 in his past 5 games, right guys?
I’m sure he’s only going up from here… unfortunately (fortunately for him) he doesn’t play for Windsor anymore lol

I think you let these guys go into Christmas break and then shake things up.

Smith fired. Bowler on the bench as I have to imagine his job would be on the line next.

I liked the first trade. Outwater sounds like Castle to me. Failed to succeed despite high hopes, with new hope of change of scenery to benefit him. Will it work… well nothing else is this year lol

If Outwater is like Castle, they better give him actual playing time and not some defensive, 4-shifts-per-game role.

Outwater might be a ppg player with you guys. His defence isn’t bad either. Problem is his compete- that’s the biggest reason why he has been on our 4th line for a good chunk of the year. If he had half the compete Paul ludwinski has I think he would be one hell of a player and would’ve found himself drafted last year

Okay, time for some thoughts...

- That may have been the worst opening period I've ever seen.
- The second period was a touch better but... still...
- They figured out how to play hockey in the third. Eh, it's the little things.
- It's impossible to pinpoint any specific players because the entire team struggled. I'm not blaming the goaltenders, the defence, or the forwards specifically; this was a total team meltdown.
- Smith was downright pissed after the game and rightfully so. I've said from the start that he deserved a chance to lead this club and I stand by that. However, this might have been the breaking game. Something isn't working and it was screaming tonight.
- Bowler getting booed at the start was both amusing and eye-rolling. I hate that he made the trades this close to the game but did people expect him to buy again? Unless they were booing at the timing of the deals? That must be it... right?
- I feel for the players; deals that close to the game have to be mentally frustrating. After the game, Smith said that it's part of hockey and you have to be mature/professional and do your job. I get that but... man, that's rough.
- Like I said before, I liked Mancini's game. After the game he said he's here to play that shutdown, physical, in-your-face role. He's had little-to-no time to adjust and still did alright.
- Zhugin played well, too. He goes straight for the net, regardless of where he starts, and is happy to grind in the crease.
- I don't know if Bowler is done but I highly doubt it. There's too much smoke to be no fire.

Take tonight's tape, burn it, and move on to Kitchener tomorrow. This team can beat the Rangers, we've seen it. At this point, they have to at least compete with them. Anything less and it's going to get uglier than most of us have seen.

Oh, the last time Windsor gave up 12 in a game? Mar. 21, 2015, I think? In the Soo.

At least when it's 12-3 he's still cutting the bench down, putting out a power play unit and still trying to win. Right guys, right. 🤔. This coach is a complete joke. He's in way over his head. He changes the lines 2 shifts into a game, he miss manages his players more than any coach. He still has a job yet has the most goals against in all of CHL hockey. What a joke

I got to AHL games. They suck by comparison. I’d rather watching a bottom dweller OHL team (I’ve done that plenty) that mid AHL (which is what you get 9/10 nights).
Ohl is basically an enhanced MTHL LEAGUE
Bottom.2 lines will never see an AHL dressing room
Just not worth the money
