WINDSOR
Mancini said in his interview that they knew about the deal the night before at 9 pm and left for Windsor 9 am yesterday. So the players weren't just notified prior to the game. Just the fans heard about it late. Outwater couldn't play because of the 4 games in a week rule it was stated but was at the arena apparently so that deal must have been known earlier as well considering tge drive time from Kingston.

Well missed a good one last night? Apparently NOT?
For what it's worth players new Wednesday night about the trades so it wasn't " just before the game".

Ya wins don't matter at this point but compete does. Sounds like and the box score reflects lack of effort all around. Who's job is it to get them interested? Well that would be themselves and their coach's. Both seem to be failing at this.

Unfortunately you can't trade the whole team ( although it looks like this will be attempted) so any coaches hearing footsteps? If they get blown out over the next 2 games , which is likely, you have to think Bowler has to do something! Anything!

Carry on.

How many A cards have been used? 31 players have seen at least a games worth of action. Assuming Lavigne and Hjelholt on B cards. Anyone else? Manzo?

Probably only a couple more moves left for BB

You can spin Bowler any way you like. His product got swept in the first round last year, his product is the laughing stock of the chl this year!! His HC has a nickname (jughead) because of how bad he was back in the day. He was hired because he was family. The product on the ice has talent but the coaching staff has destroyed them. I dont care how you spin this but im calling for BB and the entire coaching staff’s heads! Covid has NOTHING to do with this.

Expect Legend can come up with the card situation in short order. In our case I think we’ll be trading for picks more than bodies and picks don’t burn cards.

While the Spits have used 31 players so far this season including Outwater assuming he plays tonight,I don't have a definite number of A cards used.
Pops is correct that Manzo,Lavigne and Hjelholt are on B cards,I am thinking Greenwell and Stewart are not A carded yet plus possibly Ryan Struthers and while he has played 12 games, some didn't count guessing prior to NHL season not starting, only reason why to me that he hasn't played the past 4 games.
If so Spits have 5 cards to use if not 4.
Guess we will see moving forward.
Interesting to note last year at the same time Windsor had used 22 cards with 8 to utilize.

Speaking of Bowler and yes I don't really care what they spin in front of the scribes but this comment after the trade is something.

“We’re not giving up on the season,” Bowler said. “The reality is, with the players coming in, we feel we’re rearranging our roster and we’re just as good and this helps us today and in the future.”

We are just as good?? Going into last night the team had won 4 of 18 games. There are good performances here or there but there's nothing good about the team itself.

I don't want to hear about how well BB has drafted etc.. BB gave Smith a terrible hand and Smith being wet behind the ears doesn't have a clue in how to get the most out of the team or put them in situations to succeed.

As a coach you should have to coach players effort. The players should want to perform well and work hard. Yes players need a kick in the pants on occasion but not putting forth effort or being ready to play that's a lot on the players. Giving up a goal in the 1st minute is not being ready to play. Giving up a goal immediately after you get one is not being ready for sudden change.

It's unfortunate you only have 30 cards because half the team shouldn't even be there. It's up to Bowler to read the room and find out who the cancers are and make sure they are far away from Windsor by the time training camp 2024 rolls around.

Shame on the Spitfire's management, allowing things to reach the depth it has.
Fans are exasperated at how poorly this team performs. Most fans knew it was not going to go well with the anticipated inhouse promotion, and that has unfortunately played out. This team is NOT going to get better with the leadership the players have.
Yes, it is the year CHL records will change.........London is giddy!

I'm having a tough time getting under 28 used so far.

A Cards (28):
Greentree
Peer
Dionicio
Zhugin
Maillet
Davis
Christopoulos
Christoforo
Abraham
Outwater

Castle
Woodall
Mancini
Smith
Morneau
Spellacy
Toms
Nesbitt
Eichler
Costanzo

* Greenwell (05)
Martin
Jodoin
* Struthers (04)
Wineguard
Walton
Michelone
* Stewart (05)

B Cards (3):
Manzo
Lavigne
Hjelholt

* These 3 players in question are all in their 3+ year of eligibility. My understanding was that players that old can't be on a B card. But I might not be correct in this? Can anyone provide comment on this? In addition, none of these 3 have played any games with any Junior B team. Players need a primary team and to have played a significant number of games for them in order to be carded as an affiliate (B) player.

Bowler probably just says whatever Savages tell him to say.
Just a robot...

We have a culmination of 2 forces merging together. A inept coaching staff combined with a team of players most of which are not OHL caliber players. Some say Smith has no talent to work with. That is true but why does he show zero emotion when a ref gives him the gears over a questionable call. How about losing your mind just once to show the team you're not a stiff. Same with players. Team gets down a few how about a fight to spark the team or at least make an effort. Notta nothing. Any player with real heart will want out the sooner the better. This isn't a rebuild, those I can handle. Debacle comes to mind
I sit opposite the Bench, and I must say that the Coaching Staff has little interaction with the players during the game. Maybe they say all they need in the room, but you would think they might have something to say to individual players after they see them make dumb mistakes. A hand on the shoulder and a comment to the player (good or bad) might help. Never have I seen a group of Coaches at this level seem so disinterested in the play of the team. Boughner, Trevor and Savard were always engaged with the players during the Game. Why isn't Delmore talking to his defensemen? Why????

Attack fan here I felt kinda bad for the new Spits player in the second period interview. Guy just got dealt from the mem cup hosts in his OA season and his first game in his fresh new town was a 12-3 drubbing. He must not of been enjoying that.
The saddest person was Colby Barlow who didn't play. Probably would have been 14 or 15 if he was in the lineup.

Seeing these other OHL teams including Sarnia direct their condolences to the Spitfires on twitter shows how out of hand and humiliating this has gotten. We could be the new Niagara with regards to players wanting out, not reporting etc, if no changes are made to the coaching group now.

The impression I got from his post-game was that leaving Saginaw was brutal but it's a business, he's accepting, and he's got free reign to play his game here which helps.

Oshawa's always had a great social media manager... as do several of the teams!
