Not only that Haight was a -14 for Barrie the highest on the team by 3.
If he were on Windsor he would be highest on team re forwards by 6,as Greentree is -8 and Spellacy-7 ,2 rookies,no other forwards are in the - for Windsor.
Plus minus isn't a great stat to begin with, NHL, AHL, Euro, Jr and heck even some high level minor hockey teams put more value on a 100 other analytical pieces info and it's even less revelant comparing players from different teams.

Not saying the player was/is worth the price or not but +/- isnt or shouldnt be a comparable when evaluating if a player would contribute to a team if moved.

If management prioritizes +/- in any trade analysis vs what they have they are 15 years behind the pack.

I think he just means that it's too early in the season to read much into Pitre being higher than Miedema, plus Pitre was drafted into the O a season earlier.
Somewhat fair, I guess

It wasn’t a direct comparison however - was just posting what a bigger name in the scouting community thiugh of some players that had ties to the organization.

I personally posted my rankings the other day - I have Pitre ranked at #97 and Miedema at #139.

I also have Spitfires draft pick Trey Augusitine at #98 Fwiw.

Here’s a link for those intereste:

IF the picks had been conditional based on performance, you could argue a higher price given his age. Right now, though, three 2nds and two 3rds is a steep price.
Are there many deals in the OHL conditional on performance?
Sometimes OA year or if they report but I can't recall many conditions attached to performance. Very easily could have not seen them. Does any1 have any examples of performance conditions?
Again not judging wether or not a deal should have been done. Just curious.

If I were Saginaw I would have put some conditional things on a couple of those picks,3 2nds,2 3rds for this transitive property,ie tied to performance goals, assists, points.
Like I said glad Bowler was not involved in this deal,at least what we know of.
I'll ask you the same as TG. Does that happen often in the OHL????? Performance based deals? Not talking reporting or OA years but Gs,As totals?
Would you expect it if Spits moved a player?
If they have happened I'd like to know. Not arguing just can't recall any? But I'm no expert in deal conditions.

EDIT....sorry already asked. Probly better if HL could respond to them since he brought it up, they responded first.

I don't know either way; have only seen OA condition or signing condition. That doesn't mean they don't exist, though.

As for the rankings - I know Miedema is very aware of his draft season and we've been seeing him increase his game-to-game performance. I'll worry about the rankings after the deadline, though.

Sorry you n HL brought up the idea so I thought maybe it happened but I think it's a non starter if no one does it. Honestly just never heard of that and thought maybe it does. TY.
Not sure about the rankings part? Did I mention that?
All players are very aware of draft rankings regardless of what they may say. It's normal and expected. Its their dream n goal.Good on him for stepping up thou, a consistent or accelerated development curve at this level year 2, committment to working on their games n consistent improvement is definitely acknowledged by NHL clubs.

Probly a non starter in a deal. Only asked cause you brought it up as an option Saginaw should have done.
TY

Over paid for Haight imho. No i wouldnt have made that deal. I may have to change my opinion. Without Johnston this team as is will be a first round exit. Others are starting to build and nothing but crickets here. Im frankly disappointed! Id hoped BB would have got busy. I will eat those words if he does. Not sure hes reading this city, they will not support a team ok with mediocrity! Attendance is already low, doing nothing wont help. I see some callups tonight. Interesting…

Flint, MI
3 points in 6 regular season games vs Windsor,2 in 2 games this year and 1 point in 4 games in playoffs last year vs Windsor, you know when Flint lumped it against Windsor leading the series 3-2 when Medina and company shut you chokers down.
How u like that Savard, come on here and cause trouble
Sensitive. Last year wasn’t Flint’s year to go for it which is why they added nothing at the deadline and rolled their “as is” roster to 7 games vs the Spits and it wouldn’t even have went to 7 if their 1C didn’t go down. If the Spits don’t add (hell, even if they do) this year you wanna wager a pizza they can’t get 3 wins vs the ‘Birds in the post season? Which is something nobody has ever really mentioned here. The Spits major players were incredibly lucky to stay very healthy all year last year. The odds of that repeating two years in a row? Well, there goes your 1C down week to week. All that alleged Spitfires depth is gonna be tested at some point this season.

Solid game, I know it was against a rebuilding Generals squad, but still a solid win. These next two games will be challenging. Kitchener is better than its record suggests, and Saturday will be 3 games in 3 nights against a rested Colts squad.

Yes, the Spirit overpaid for Haight. Imagine if the Spits made that trade? giving away all those high draft picks for an underperforming player, many on here would be livid. "IF" the Spits do decide to buy I guess that gives a decent idea what they could get for Miedema next year if they wanted to trade him to recoup some assets.

A few thoughts...

- I was nervous about Onuska starting. He proved me wrong by a long shot. Now, he has to repeat this.
- You want a full 60? This was your game. You want hitting? This was your game. You want defence? This was your game. You want offence? This was your game.
- There have been times where this team starts well, sputters, then is in a dog fight to the finish. This was not one of those games. They came out strong, continued strong, and, despite a hiccup or two, finished strong.
- Great to see Greentree and Smith get a pair each. Greentree is loving the opportunity and proving he can play on the top line. Smith isn't the flashiest guy but, when he's on a streak...
- The callups - Martin played alright but I didn't notice him a whole lot. Graniero, on the other hand, was a waterbug out there. He has respectable size (6' 183), but he's so quick and reminds me a bit of Peer in his first year. His hair is also downright crazy! I'm not sure why McLlwain didn't dress, either.
- The players said it best - they needed a good week of practice to reset, get back to the basics, and remember who they were. You slip into bad habits and a refresh can be huge. It showed tonight with one of the best performances of the season. Now, let's carry that into Kitchener and then back home against Barrie.

I'll temper my enthusiasm a bit, Oshawa is looking like a draft lottery team.

What I did like was the quick start. Did not wait until the end of the second to show up so that is a good thing.

Smith looked engaged and I caught him in our end making a backcheck. There is hope.

Defense still insists on either throwing the puck in front of the net or passing directly to the other team. Got away with that last night but good teams will make you pay as they have in the past .

Grudge game for Kitchener tonight so hopefully the boys will be ready and start playing from the first faceoff.

Go Spits Go!!!

7-2 final. As 60 min as we've seen in a while. They were offensive, physical, strong defensively, and it was the game they needed. Now, to repeat that effort again tomorrow and Sat.
Agree repeat the same effort tonight at Kitchener.
As for last night's game always nice to see 10 players pick up at least a point
(6F,4D),3 point games from Maillet and Smith,2 goal efforts from Greentree and and Smith,a strong game from Onuska which we all know was overdue,as mentioned in other posts much better attention to detail.
I love the way the top 3 drafted players from the 22 draft, dman Anthony Christoforo, forwards Liam Greentree and AJ Spellacy are developing, Christoforo drafted 22nd OA,leads 16 year old dmen points with 14 in 18 games Greentree drafted 34th in the 2nd has the 2nd most goals for 16 year olds drafted in the 2nd,with 6 Kevin He drafted 25th oa leads with 8 goals, and 3rd rd pick 62nd OA leads all 3rd round picks playing with 8 points 4G,4A,as he scored his 1st goal in 13 last night.
Play and think like they did last night and things should be fine in Kitchener tonight.
One game at a time, worry about Saturday's game vs Barrie tomorrow.
Go Spits Go

WINDSOR
Good win againsta low ranked team. They should have dominated and they did. Great start and carried it through. Our D kept them out of middle in our zone all night for the most part. Onuska solid although many of their shots hit him square where he didn't need to move. Hopefully a confidence builder for O. Surprised Savard didn't use his 3rd and 4th lines way more in the 3rd especially when it was 6-0 just because it is 3 in 3 nights. Keep the momentum going tonight. Go Spits.

need to beat the teams at the bottom of the league.
hopefully will build some needed confidence in this group.
nice to see greentree pot a couple goals
smith actually contributing is nice to see also
windsor took the whole 3rd period off.
went back to bad habits. defense was nowhere in 3rd period.

Somewhere
From what i heard on radio the game wasn’t very physical like some have said. It was nice to see they beat up on a struggling Oshawa team. Onuska seemed to be decent but really wasn’t tested. Still not sure if he has turned the corner but at least he made the routine saves. Now lets see if Smith continues to play well or if he disappears again. Sounded like Greentree was all over the ice. Hopefully they continue to give him and Spellacy nice minutes.
