It's true that Bowler should have to take the heat for making a poor choice in starting tenders, but I actually don't think he made the wrong choice. The way HL lays it out, it makes it obvious that Medina was far and away the best choice based on the statistical analysis provided. There is no arguing the other way, the stats are impossible to ignore.
So how does Bowler make the decision that he does going into this season? How does Medina inexplicably not even get a chance to earn a starter's role? It's almost like we are missing a key piece of information here. Information that Bowler already has, and that he felt outweighed the statistical argument.
Perhaps information about what is actually going on in the room? Perhaps linked to why Medina lost the starting job mid February and never was a serious threat to regain it?
We have been told that Bowler is a genius. We have been told that the job was clearly Medina's based on stats. Something doesn't jive here.
