The comment was about drafting Euro players. How many of the players you list were actually drafted by the Spits? Without connections to NHL teams or high-end European agents it is very difficult to have success in the Euro draft. With the present ban it makes it even more difficult. Bowler not being overly connected will not help. Smartest move on his part ( as Germanspitfire suggested) is to pick the very best player on the board with a hope they may report or at least block others from picking that player. Don't think the Spits can rely on the Euro draft to fill their roster.
Sergachev and Loktionov were drafted by Windsor the rest acquired by trade.
Unfortunately for Windsor but not the players they both graduated a year early to the NHL.
Including Sobelev most success with Russian born and drafted players, with that avenue closed more challenging.

Yes. It is a absolutley great site for statistics and analysis. I had a trial subscription but I am not a scout and didn't carry on with it. $36:us a month back then. TMI . All I was saying is that not every shift of every game is available. Other than televised games, the players must upload videos. None negative to their own good. Yes they have agreements with many leagues and have extensive coverage for those leagues like the OHJL now. It is still like watching the NHL draft coverage. The clips are always fantastic on draft day. Everyone looks like the next star.
its the same site nhl teams now use for their scouting coverage. i dont see any player uploaded context, i see nothing but games, shifts and data. ill use the spits import pick as an example, but his last four games were all u18 games that were broadcast on tsn. before that it was all u20 games that were broadcast as well. looking at other european players its the same. what you saw and what i see are very different.

Still nothing on asst coaches?
Definitely like what im seeing from guys playing summer hockey. Might be a retool instead of a rebuild.
Agree with you regarding your last 2 sentences.
As for assistant coach can see person named after ALS benefit game Saturday afternoon.
No rush imo, afterall Savard wasn't named head coach till 3rd week plus in August 2 years ago.

Just curious, has Ron Francis gotten the exemption to allow Shane Wright to go the AHL yet if by the small chance he doesn’t make the NHL roster?

Some rumblings that he may have not made the criteria to make him AHL eligible. Does anyone know on here?

Nothing announced yet on an exemption for Wright. He is not eligible for the AHL this year as he did not play enough games this year to count as a full year. Now I fully believe he will be given that exemption but until something is announced it is NHL or OHL.

If Jack Bowler becomes an assistant, I'll have questions but I'll also take it with a grain of salt. They all have to start somewhere, no?

As for Wright - the last I heard from Bowler was (as of a month ago), as far as he knew, Wright was eligible for the NHL, AHL, and OHL. That's directly from him, too. Whether that changes or not, I don't know.

Nepotism and money might influence the decision!
As in every walk of life. For better or worse. It's human nature.
And not judging any particular scenario here, just is what it is.
And it's always driven by senior leadership decisions......be it owners, CEOs, Directors, Managers....... It's life.

to be fair, jerrod 'jughead' smith was hired as a favour to bob jones. im not sure smith is a great choice, i think other assistants hired this summer have proved way more but proof will be in the pudding.

Smith was the family hire no question, i may get very vocal if its Jack! Start somewhere????? Sure but not at this level nor as a family hire! No i dont like the Smith hire but thatll be on the fan base to react if hes not.
As for Wright, i am told it hasnt been announced and likely wont be UNLESS he doesnt make the show. But no he wont be back by all accounts.
