Absolutely. 6 weeks average recovery time and then rehab. He'd be back by now ready for the playoffs.
While frustrating for the sake of the team, unless needed, I understand the lack of desire to just toss kids into surgery for a quicker recovery.

It’s a gamble whether you do or you don’t. It’s unfortunate it’s needed, and it’s unfortunate it took this long to determine that.

If he is able to recover with the aforementioned 6 weeks, if the spitfires are able to make the finals, it puts him in contention to play. But it comes down to, is 6 weeks recovery to everyday activities or back at a high level of hockey.

Have to assume he’s out for the season, which is a real bummer.

Spellacy with a knee surgery and no posted timetable, I’d imagine he’s done until preseason.

While we’ll miss Dionicio, at least he’s healthy.

Jodoin has also looked really solid on D lately. Sure he’s commonly referred to as our 7th D man, but I can’t think of a contender where he doesn’t fit the top 6 if he was moved there.

I’ve also really like Woodall. Great to hear of his GOJHL award, I’m excited to see more of him, as soon as this week. He seems responsible and hasn’t looked out of place in the slightest.

Importance of return IMO: Abraham, Greentree, DeAngelis, Spellacy.

Unfortunately we’re out on Abraham, but Greentree ready to go is huge and it doesn’t sound like DeAngelis will miss much. I think Windsor is confident vs the Rangers on home ice, and know even if they fall in Game 1, they can easily rebound in the series.

Agree. Wrights effort cannot be questioned. Most consistent best 2 way player on the team by far. Appears he has taken a huge leadership role as well based on interactions with team mates in the past 7-8 games. Not surprised, he was Team Canada's captain for a reason.
Watching Wright, he’s invested. I was a little concerned of that when he came here, not anymore. He’s a skilled competitive 2 way player, clearly wanting to win games here and now. To be honest… he’s blocking more shots than I’d like him to lol.

The way the article sounded, Abraham did everything he could to heal without surgery. I have to give him props for that. Nobody wants to go the big route so, until it's absolutely necessary, you try Plan A, B, C, D, or X if needed. Unfortunately, nothing worked so this is the result.

DeAngelis most likely won't be back until game 3 when there in kitchener.
Too bad about DeAngelis been very durable all season only missed 1 game and that was the regular season ending game Saturday.
Only 1 player from this year's team played all 68 games and that was Alex Christopoulos, who also last year with his time split between North Bay and Windsor played 68 games,Maillet last year played 69 games including his time with Guelph, this year he had 67.
Wyatt Johnston only Spitfire last year to play all 68 games in a Windsor uniform, though Daniel D'amico and Michael Renwick played 67.
Having 4 players out to start playoffs,3 with injuries Abraham, Spellacy, and DeAngilis, 1 with suspension stark difference from last year,Spits opened the playoffs with no injuries vs Sarnia and continued that way till early in the 2nd round when they lost Zito to an injury. Sarnia lost in 6 to Windsor in round 1 last year, then Kitchener in round 2 lost in 5.
My approach 1 game at a time playoffs can sometimes be a marathon not a sprint mostly marathon last year,6 against Sarnia, 5 against Kitchener, 7 against Flint and Hamilton.
Buckle up enjoy the ride.

I really feel the team mismanaged the whole Abraham thing. They gave him 2 months to heal. He comes back and plays 8 games and the wrist is still bothering him. That is when they should have done the surgery. He would be going into week 5 of recovery with a chance to come back in the playoffs. Instead they wait until season is over and then decide on surgery.

More and more organizations are extremely apprehensive about teenagers having surgeries. Then you also have parents possibly wanting to get involved and find their own surgeon. This is pretty common now.

Theres no doctors here aware of the situation so im thinking our comments are unfounded when saying they mishandled him. That said from what ive seen this year im hiring a new strength and conditioning coach and likely a new ortho guy (unless his parents insisted on this path).
If the team cant beat kitch with the personnel today then they likely shouldnt have been #1. I think they are fine for this round. Frankly if we get everyone back other than Abraham and Spellacy and stay healthy they should make the run were all hoping for. The jr B kids look good, that will help big time.

That’s fine but if you waiting this long that it might improve why not wait till season is over in case it gets better and he can play. To me it must be painful and or can be injured further if he tried playing with it. I’m just saying they had 3 months (dec- mar) to figure out the best course of action. I’m not saying what is right or wrong. It just seemed like they weren’t sure what to do.

So because I’m not a Dr i can not have an opinion? Guess i can’t talk about coaching or ownership or playing since i never did these things at this level or judge things of past experiences in life. It was only an opinion, nothing more then that.

Greentree/Maillet/Maggio
Peer/Wright/Christopoulos
Castle/Harrison/Smith
Davis/Morneau/McManus

Jodoin/Sobolev
Holmes/Christoforo
Woodall/Renwick

Costanzo

Davis has scoring ability, McManus is bound to take a penalty here and there, but it's not like he's a PK guy, and our PK has been pretty solid. The only team I'm afraid to take penalties against is Sarnia with Burke/Voit. Aside from that, use the body, make some hits, playoff hockey time! Actually having a "checking line" in the playoffs could be key to wearing down teams that don't have our depth, especially when our checking line is the 4th one. Even in the off chance our 4th gets matched up with a 1st, I think Davis and Moreau are defensively responsible enough to hold them off. I know the 4th line will frequently only see a shift or two in the playoffs, but with home ice advantage and control over matchups, I'm utilizing that checking line at least in the first two games of each series.

Yes, Windsor is a more skilled team than Kitchener and even with Spellacy and Abraham (I'm considering them gone) gone, we still have depth. Getting 3 lines in a decent rotation with a 4th line going out there and banging up a team that really only has the depth to be playing two lines, will benefit Windsor.

I'm not worried about Kitchener but I do think they'lll steal a game, maybe two.

Oddly enough looking at the matchups and regular season wins,
Windsor 4 Kitchener 0
London 3 Owen Sound 3
Sarnia 2 Guelph 2
Saginaw 5 Flint 3

Owen Sound may give London more of a fit then I thought. I saw a London Free Press article that had Guelph beating Sarnia in 7. While I'd love to see the Storm advance, I don't think Guelph will finish a game within two goals, unless Namestikov tosses together a revenge game and goes off lol.

Anyone else have first round predictions?
I have:
Windsor in 5
London in 6
Sarnia in 4
Saginaw in 7
-
Ottawa in 4
NB in 4
Petes in 6
Hamilton in 6

Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion but just like the states has HIPAA here in Canada we have PIPEDA. That pretty much protects the individual as well as family from providing any details about their own health or their child's health. You know it's a wrist that's all we really need to know. Yes everybody wants that information but what are individuals on a message board going to use it for.

Also there is probably enough information out there from people that would know you can draw your own conclusion. Like last Saturday when I stated he hadn't had surgery because there were issues that was what Todd Warriner had said during the broadcast on Wednesday. From talking to people physio people, doctors etc.. Most likely in this type of case we aren't talking a couple weeks this is likely months and this wasn't the case when he first injured it.
