Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | Savoie Gets an Audition With the Trade Deadline Looming

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
I think the best thing for the team might be to flip out both goalies. Just start fresh.

No dressing room politics, no hurt feelings, no playing favourites. Try and move Skinner out for an extended Vejmelka or something similar and move a late pick for a middle of the road backup. Send Pickard down for redundancy, hope it all works.

David Staples? His source on the article is Frank's BS from Friday lol

Do you know when this was said? Friday.

Why did Bowman say the opposite yesterday?

Man half of this shit on this board and twitter is being said because of what Bowman said on Friday. Yet his minds altered after the weekend lmao
Well here's hoping they're wrong and we have a good goalie in net soon!

51goalies played a minimum of 850 5v5 minutes. Here are the goalies that COULD be available with better numbers than Skinner.

Vejmelka, Gibson, Binnington (most likely not)
And that’s kind of it. Everyone else is on playoff teams, or younger guys recently extended on teams trying to improve.

Someone said Scottie Bowman, on a podcast, said the Oilers need a goalie LOL
Unless you heard it yourself, stop sharing whatever Hickey4lyfe2k2 says on Twitter

So I see two options.

If management is serious about winning they'll get one of them. If they're not we should find a group who is.

The downside with Gibson is his NTC he “allegedly” would go to Edmonton or Carolina but it’s only speculation. If neither Vejmelka or Gibson get traded by the deadline I won’t be upset because they were simply kept instead of being moved. But if either of them are traded and we don’t land either, that’s just unacceptable. At bare minimum replace Pickard with one if they group thinks Skinner still has a future.

Because the reporting coming out is that this isn't actually how they're "playing it". Oilers management truly does not have a clue what their cap situation is going to be and what the status of Kane is and that they are actually waiting for him to tell them in a week's time.

I feel like Kane is coming back before the end of the reg season and hasn't been interested in keeping the team informed.
This is not true at all. They do know that they will have the cap space.

If Kane is coming back before the season is over, the Oilers are just kind of screwed. Maybe we'll see Jeff Skinner moved out somehow to open up some space.

The team desperately needs top six forwards. If the cap space is there, I bet they'll bring in a forward and a goalie. If not, I think you just have to hope Kane comes back in really good shape.

I don’t see the reason to move Skinner at this point. His play lately has been easily worth 3 million. No use spending assets to replace his hole if we move him.

I would agree but if they're not going to play him it's inexcusable to have 3 million sitting in the press box game 1 of the playoffs. If management doesn't think he's a fit then you have to go find someone that is.

A name out there.

He's tiny

He's not coming back before the season is over, if he does he will be traded. People need to chill out.

I think they will play him though imo. We will need his goal scoring touch in the playoffs.

He's been healthy scratched twice during this stretch though, and still isn't playing in the top six. If you add Kane into the mix, I don't see Knoblauch playing him if he still isn't giving him minutes after a really good stretch of games.

Maybe the overly generous read of this the coaching staff knows what they have in J-Skins and they want to view other weaknesses/deficiencies?

I doubt it, but you never know, they haven't found quite what they're looking for yet with the roster.

He'd look good here. Arvidsson, Klingberg and Akey for Karlsson at 50%?

Yeah I'm sorry but the team has lost 5 of the last six and needs to start winning now to stay in the hunt for a division title. It would be nice if that was the case but I can't see it.

I just can't see them being this reluctant to put Skinner in a top six role, and then suddenly doing it with 20 games left in the season. But hopefully he gets a look.

I don't think that gets it done but Karlsson would be a great add. You might well have to add a 1st to that to get him at 50%.
