I found it comical the Kitchener announcers were talking about a missed head check call, and made it sound like DeAngelis made the same hit Pinelli did.

(My memory could be wrong) I think that hit was on Sop who didn’t miss a shift, unlike Peer who missed the remainder of the game, and with the way this series is going, likely the remainder of the season.

It is weird because Windsor is a good home team. They lost 5/34 home games in regulation. Playoffs? They’ve lost 2/2.

It’s frustrating as a fan, but putting together all these pieces at this cost to see no more home games than the worst team that makes the playoffs has to be a kick in the teeth.

I want to believe in this team, but my gut says Savard goes with Onuska again. While he played his best game of the season last night, I don’t think it happens again tomorrow. I think the Spits will put up their best effort, have their highest scoring game of the series, and will be let down on the back end giving up 5/6 goals excluding an EN.

My hope for a deep playoff run has diminished and now I’m hoping to just get my playoff ticket money back lol. I’m sure I can find something else to do on a Saturday night…

Savard was interviewed by Josh Brown (KIT reporter) only 2 quotes but here they are:

“I feel for our guys because they worked tonight,” said Savard. “We’re not getting breaks around the net. We’re there, we’re fighting and if we keep playing like we did tonight we’ll get some success.
“We just have to win a game and try and get it back home. We’ve been a good home team all year.”

“He never sees him coming and Peer still doesn’t know where he is,” he said. “Pinelli leans in and catches him in the head, so Peer has no idea it’s coming. It’s a tough situation when we lose a great player like that and we’ll let the league deal with it.”
Playoffs u have to create your breaks
No handouts given.

After letting the dust settle from last night's nightmare. Thought I'd chime in on my opinion. No excuses really can be made for being down 3-0 other then this was right in front of us all season. I've said it till I'm blue in the face and some others have as well. This is not a team built for the playoffs period, too soft and one dimensional gameplan!! Our teams GM came out and said we are going to take a run at the Championship just to not do his job properly and not assess this team to find its weaknesses. I mean its mind bottling. We needed a more reliable goalie and better defensive players so that we were more structured and well balanced, we had the chips to make the right moves but went a different route. This team was scoring goals all season there was no reason you didnt fill our teams weaknesses and needs if we were really "going for it". Thanks for building us like the Leafs, this year is different for them but the past 4 or 5 seasons before, we are the OHL version of that this season. Havent cared all season how many goals we scored, whoopty Doo. Letting in 4 goals a night is a joke of a hockey system. Savard and his pond hockey style has never been favored by me as I've said before, no consistant line combinations all season or last, just flip flop all game every period. Sometimes you have to let these players work out there issues and adapt, get better together. That is what the regular season is for preparing for the real season we have been playing pond hockey all regular season. This is the OHL Marc.

Congratulations to Kitchener and there fans. I knew we had our hands full but didnt think we would lose this series and if we did lose would have never though like this. Unless Something really changes in our teams locker room I dont see any light in a comeback.

Anyways Thanks for the final Spit in the Face to end our season there Bowler, Savard and crew. I dont put this on our players it's on the people running it. There supposed to be the professionals in charge but far from it. Busch league, Build a hockey team and have a ligit hockey system in place if you want to have success.

Rant Over!!
Agreed. Savard is a good coach when it comes to offense, but that's only half the game. All season it appears they did nothing to change the defensive game. Saw zero changes in the d-zone coverage or breakout. Kitchener had 9 different 2 on 1's last night, Spitfires only had 2 2 on 1's. Yet Savard after the game states " if they keep playing like that they'll get success".

I am sure he's a great guy, but a coaching change is probably needed. Someone needs to pay a price for this embarrassment. It's one thing if the team stood pat or sold and lost in the first round, but when you have traded literally all your 2nd's, 3rd's and 4ths in the next four years on this team, and you haven't even had a lead in any point of the playoffs, a price needs to be paid by dismissing staff.

Notice there have been no postgame comments from the coaches or players? Usually, there is an article from Parker or interviews on the website. Have they all gone into hiding already? Maillet, Wright, Maggio are a combined -19. Just embarrassing. This isn't the 2010 team, no 3-0 comeback, it will be considered a miracle if they can even get the lead. Even the #8 Oshawa Generals who are in a complete rebiold have won a game. Spitfires have led 0 minutes in this series. Yes, I am still rattled, all that time and money spent for 4 embarrassing games and a rebuild coming up.

I also noticed all Kitchener fans think Pinelli should have only gotten two minutes. Even had one say it was interference on Peer lmao! Pinelli has been suspended how many times, he's the dirtiest player in the league.
There one coach was laughing on the bench when he watched replay on tablet and prolly thought peer flopped
not sure how long he’s going to be out for but guessing pinelli should get 4 games
but league will probably only give 2 and a slap on hand
what a Joke

Pinelli with a 3 game suspension
If the Spitfires can somehow win tomorrow things can change quick with that suspension. Obviously, Peer is concussed so we are also missing a key player but still. According to Parker, a loss tomorrow and the Spitfires are the first #1 seed in OHL history to be swept.

EDIT: Check out the disgusting comments made by Rangers fans in their thread.

Weren't a couple Spits posters upset about fans posting on their board and then we see the same from some of them them on the Rangers board?
Of all the teams boards I follow I find theirs to be the most unbiased.....JMO.
Nuetral opinion below.
Peer bad change, unaware n put himself in a bad spot. Pinelli meant to give him a shot. (Based on 1 vid n 1 angle, not weighing in on a suspension length or intent.......I rarely ever do cause it is what it is with the leagues decisions, just like I don't whine about refs even if bad......usually equals out.....funny no opinion from the "authority" on game 1 n 2 disparity in calls when he always wants them even up if Spits take more lol)
What do Spits fans think of the hit on Sop?
Leaving out the injury part which doesn't determine a head shot or not.
I haven't seen it, just curious. Perception is often influenced by Fandom n I get it.
Pinelli got ripped n the Rags gotta deal with it.
Pinneli is a bigger loss than Peer in terms of talent......JMO so maybe it's the spark the Spits need?
We have seen big comebacks against us here London ( Kit/ Guelph recently) but it'll take the Spits taking the GAF meter up a couple notches it seems based on opinion here. The players need to take this personally.

Coaches may or may not be an issue but if the players don't GAF and won't pay a price to make the tough plays, systems dont matter.....
Take it to make it is a saying I like.

Good luck. Ball is Spits court. Step up or step out. Been their and seen my team fold.

What's the staff working with on D. How many future pros are there? When I say pros I mean having a 4 to 5 year career.

DeAngelis no
Jodoin no
Sobolev probably not
Holmes doubtful
Renwick no
Dionicio probably not
Cristoforo possibly but he's just 17

They should be better but the talent on the blue line lacks top tier talent.

It's not about the x's and o's it's about the Jimmy's and the Joe's.

Do we need a safety check on the Spits most loyal supporter n
This is the one I want to see a replay on.

Me too, just gotta a gut feeling it would be glossed over by Spits fans and considered terrible by Ramger fans. Sounds familiar? Not saying you.

If the De'Angelis hit was to the head, he should be suspended as well, no doubt. No room for that garbage in the game. He was to blame on Kitchener's 2nd and 3rd goal, might have been a blessing in disguise if it got called lol.

But if he did I could imagine the outcry. Bad call, refs suck, we were down a D.......seems common with a minority on here.

Thought you weren't going to watch the game?

No one wants players to get hurt......including players. I'll qualify that with 98% don't.

Would be no outcry from me, one thing i hate is dirty plays. IF you read my previous posts I admitted the reffing favored the Spitfires in the first two games and have stated no excuses in games one and two due to the injuries/suspensions.

This is the one I want to see a replay on.
Rewatched it half a dozen times (perks of OHLTV). Could’ve got a call but I don’t think it’s worth more than 2. Sop was a bit tangled up so it left him defenseless. At the same time, DeAngelis didn’t do much more than extend the hands and give him a shove.

I wouldn’t want to be hit like that, but I see how it’s not called, and don’t disagree.

Primary contact to the head. Isn't that supposed to always be called?

Most fans thought the Dionicio/Morneau suspensions were stupid plays and justified suspensions, so...

Ooooh, wait, was this the play where two Spitfires hit him at once? I vaguely recall that.

Just because Sop wasn't injured doesn't mean it wasn't just as dangerous a hit as Pinelli. In fact it was more intentional. DeAngelis was a direct shot to the head while Sop was engaged with a backchecker. Sop was lucky he wasn't badly injured. But that makes it ok in your eyes.

When i looked at it again Sop’s face hit Deangelis in the chest there didn’t seem tombe a shoulder or an elbow to his head. To me that isn’t a head check. Some Ranger fans seem to think it was worse then Peer hit.

Different team. Last years team had heart.
So true. All the trades of the 05s who were tight with 06s and even with older guys was a waste. Could have had run this year and into 2024/25 season with some good trade decisions and coaching. They all played with heart and were tougher kids who stood up for their teammates even as rookies. Whole future blown to bits.

Face palm.... true enough I guess lol.
Those are hard to argue lol. Sorta like flipping the puck over the glass in Dzone is a 2 min.

Pinelli with a 3 game suspension
Being a repeat offender and add that a player Peer appears to out for the balance of the series whether it's 1 game or 2,3, or 4.
That Ranger player is a dirty player and will get his comeuppance someday.
As for comments re the last game thought Windsor played much better then the 1st 2 games in the series, agree with Savard game could have gone either way, didn't give up especially considering only 1-0 going to the 3rd,not going to pin loss on Onuska, thought he played well especially the 1st 2 periods, wished he made a big save in the 3rd when game was tied 2-2,and then allowed a PP goal to make it 4-2.
Will be interesting to see who starts tonight, I prefer Costanzo but wont object if it doesn't happen, had Onuska played lousy I would.
Best way now to make Pinelli pay is to win tonight to force game 5 at home
It's in their hands now.
Losing Peer doesn't help and like I said I am expecting him out for the series.
Re tonight's lineup Morneau will come back tonight from his 2 game suspension, I would be put McManus back in for Grenerio, dont why Savard had Grenerio in for McManus and I would dress Martin for Davis, not because Davis played poorly just putting more size into the lineup.
I would bump Jodoin upfront now that there are 7 D available and would consider Dionicio upfront too maybe in the 3rd if behind.
One game at a game is still my approach.
