Yep, this sucks. There's zero denying it. But, the offence was better, Onuska was a rock, and I'm going to build on those. The Rangers have played outstanding so far, vastly different than your normal eight seed. Credit where it's due; they've done the nearly unthinkable and have a chance to make history. It's frustrating that Windsor is on the other end of it but...

They r the 8th seed.
No way around it.
If they weren't Windsor wouldn't be playing them in 1st round.

Well we need a 2010 down 3-0 miracle against Kitchener again. Just don't see this coaching staff doing that with this group. Can lightning strike twice? It can but it is rare. As for our goalies not the real problem. We can't expect a first star performance needed just to win a game. Built for cozy beer league non-contact hockey and we'd be fine.

Absolutely, tired of hearing 8th seed not really a 8th seed. They are. I said if Kitchener plays hard nosed D and get warm not even hot goaltending , our chances were less than 50/50. Here we are. If we had Constatini we would still be down 3 games. Goaltending is not our problem, it is poor coverage, sloppy turnovers, lack of getting to the dirty areas and a coaching staff who changes line combos showing no confidence in their decisions or schemes.

That 3rd goal by Kitchener epitomizes the Spits D this year. DeAngelis a 2nd rd pick passed over in the NHL draft once, most likely a 2nd time now just totally misreads Martin and let's him go. People want to blame coaching but this isn't coaching that's a veteran D making bad decisions.

Hunter may have out coached himself by trying to avoid Kitchener. They might see them in the second round.
I'm a little confused Kitchener is up 3-0 and London is also up 3-0 in Round 1. But you think Dale should have bailed on the final game so we could have played the Rangers in Round 1? Like I say you have me a bit confused?
Really we should say the Kitchener GM / Coach made the right call. Rest everyone and drop to 8th which appears at this point to be a pretty shrewd move in "wanting Windsor"? It ain't over till it's over however, hasn't been that long ago Guelph beat the Knights out after being down 3-0. Cheers ....

Hey, looks who's back to stir again!

Let's just hope for a 2010. It's not impossible and we all know it.

I agree it's not over,
But ya make your own bed and he sure has earned it, ten fold. I'll leave it at that for now.

Maggio -8, Holmes, Maillet-6 , Harrison and Wright-5 . That sums up the reason we are down ready to be swept. Big guns are not big guns in this series.

Heads elsewhere? I have no idea personally and no info, just a thought.

Thinking what could have been if they just stood pat and made no trades. They likely would have finished 3rd and got Guelph in the first round and had enough picks to take a run next year. Instead, the Spitfires win the conference and have to play a team with more NHL picks than the #6 and #7 seed combined. London and Sarnia get rewarded for finishing 2nd and 3rd, getting to play Guelph and OS.

Now we have no 2nds or 3rds the next four years and are going to be the embarrassment of the CHL after a pathetic four-game sweep. Shane Wright was invisible these last two games. Maggio did nothing as well. Bring in a new coaching staff. At least we have 3 of the better rookies in the league to build on.

If you want a new coaching staff then one who hired those guys should have to answer for things as well.

Except this isn't a normal 1 v. 8 matchup and darn near everyone who's looking at the series said that before hand. Is it hard to watch? Yep. Is it disappointing? Absolutely. Am I downright impressed with the Rangers' game so far? 100%.
I often agree with your posts or at least your POV, but I think saying they aren't your usual 8 seed is a weak excuse.

Windsor isn't some run of the mill 4-5-6 seed. They're the reigning conference champs who were the best team in the conference this regular season. For long stretches it wasn't close either.

Kitchener didn't magically fix what made them the 8 seed overnight. They had fundamental issues for 68 games. Those don't disappear because oh sh*t it's playoff season we better try.

They're weak at net front coverage. Their D struggles against a heavy, aggressive forecheck. A majority of their Fs are skillful danglers. Their special teams were average at best (both ranked out of top-10).

From what I've seen, Windsor looks unprepared for what KIT has offered & frankly have not looked like a team willing to EARN it. Get out front. Take 3-4 cross checks. Eat a slash on the ankle, go win a board battle, fight for those loose pucks off face-offs, etc.

At the very least somebody try & bother Constantini. Slash him. Get in his face. Sarnia has had 0 issues scoring vs GUE & they are still chirping, slashing, getting in Leaver's face. GUE has started doing it to Gaudreau & it has bothered him. WSR is not done yet, but it's been a shocking display so far & one that can't be chalked up to well they got a bad draw. No other high seed is losing. Can't tell me KIT is the only solid low seed.

Someone needs to be held accountable. No problem with Bowler, he brought in guys like Maillet and Christo for nothing. Drafted Cristoforo, Greentree. The coaching sucks. This team has been giving up 10 2 on 1's per game since game 1 and no changes.

Agreed Kitchener is still that same team that was blowing leads, giving up a lot of goals. I mean you can only give the opposition so much credit. The Spits have not held a lead for a single second in the series that's more of an indictment of how little life they have shown in this series.

To be honest, those issues you speak of regarding Kitchener I have not seen in this series. I am not defending the Spitfires in any way, believe me, this series is one of the biggest embarrassments in franchise history. But, Kitchener's d zone coverage has been incredible. There is zero space for the Spitfires to create plays, there are literally zero giveaways by Kitchener, no one misses coverage. Their PK is the best I've seen and the the neutral zone play is flawless.

Savard has been out-coached badly. He had a Jr. B player with 1 career goal playing on the top line until 8 minutes remaining in the game. He didn't put Dionico on the top line until then. He had Jodoin who is a d-man, playing on the 3rd line as a winger and gave him a ton of ice while giving Castle (who has 25 goals) about 3 shifts the entire game.

I could argue this until I'm blue in the face (and likely have at times LOL), but it's pointless. I've said my side several times and, if people wish to disagree, that's up to them. Windsor's had some serious issues all series and there's zero denial. Their offence has been awful, their veterans haven't gotten the job done, and their defence leaves a lot to be desired. I'm going to give credit where it's due, though, and the Rangers definitely deserve a lot of that.
