Medina is an unknown. Will he report for sure? Is he ready and is the team willing to go with a 2nd year and a rookie?? Gotta cover your bases here. I believe Zito makes this team.

So the Spits signed Medina being an unknown even after last year. Why sign him if you're not putting him on the team at 17??? Nothing you said makes sense.

Medina is signed, so I don't see him not reporting. By signing the OHL contract he has blown his NCAA eligibility. The other alternative is the USHL. The USHL is generally an NCAA development league. It does not make sense that he doesn't report. However, you have a great point about the Spits willing to go with an 01 and 02 in goal. While I don't see Inze by an OA caliber goaltenenderin the OHL, he is still there.

Is it likely? No. But was it likely for him to blow off camp last year without even a phone call?? Is it normal for teams to rely on two very young goalies? No. So this may just be an experiment and they may need a guy like Inzce. So I may not make sense to you but I’ve been in an ohl camp, how about you?

Agreed and exactly my point. If we are speculating about Medina not showing. There's probably as good a chance that the Spits make 2 import picks and let Piroinen go then.

Likely for him to blow off camp when they drafted Piroinen and sign him and still have DiPietro? Absolutely. It was in his best interest to protect any NCAA aspirations. The phone call thing that's all about perception. It obviously didn't piss off the Spits enough to not pursue him during the year and signing him in the offseason. Been to an OHL camp to watch?? Numerous times. Not sure what that has to do with making sense or what you said but you do you.

To watch....lol not what I’m referring to, but you knew that. Yes I will do what I do. Ps you don’t just blow off the team that drafts you. He’s here alright but without some of the extras and a very short leash.

So Spits are going from a very quiet June to very busy if this is the case.

After what I posted yesterday if I didn't know better I would think they are trying to make me look bad.

We'll have to see if this is more rumour/speculation or if it's something more substantial.

Hoping it's something substantial, don't mind being wrong with how I perceive the way things playing out.

The Ottawa 67's making a trade today, sending Matt Maggio to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for a pair of 2nd round picks.

The Ottawa 67’s have acquired a pair of second-round draft picks in exchange for 16-year-old forward Matt Maggio, the club announced on Wednesday.
Maggio, a native of Tecumseh, ON, heads close to home in Windsor, where his father Rob was previously the Spitfires’ Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The draft picks coming back to the 67’s include Kingston’s second round selection in 2022 and Kitchener’s second round selection in 2023.
In 35 games in his first OHL campaign last year, Maggio put up four goals and three assists for seven points for the Barber Poles.

Familiar with the kid. His draft year was a down year for the Alliance but but he was definitely one of that leagues top players.
Stood out at the Alliance allstar game but not as much in competition with the top provincial squads that year. JMO.
Seemed like a good kid, good attitude.
Needed to work on skating at that esp those first couple strides. Had some skill thou.
Just a guess, but an eventual 2nd/3rd line solid player in years 3/4.

I like Maggio's potential; put up some good numbers before the OHL. His youth is a huge bonus, too. I'm not a huge fan of giving up two 2nds for a former 5th; could have dealt mid-round picks and (maybe) made them conditional. That said, it's four spots now that have been taken by a new F so I like that.

BTW, the deal did NOT involve picks from the DiPietro trade - they were from the Stanley and Vilardi deals.

Two seconds for a 2018 5th round pick? Who has 7pts in 35 games?

This must be Part B of the DiPietro deal. Can't imagine this deal is made on a stand-alone.
I agree very surprised too. Don't get me wrong I liked the kid who I thought played well in the first half then was sent to tier two to get icetime once we loaded up. Good skater, high energy, high compete +++. But two seconds?? Agree probably a side deal linked to Dipietro.

Don't forget that the 67s were loaded last year, so as a 16yo he probably didn't much ice time in those 35 games.

Definitely time to clear out the old dead wood as the majority of scoring strengths are younger. No room for filler players now. Improve the D, get TL on a new vision and solidify the goaltending situation and I'll start getting hopeful again lol
