And notice since Hynes took over that isn't happening anymore. Fleury has only played during back to back sets and I think just one other time that wasn't during a back to back.

Which goes to show that was all Evason.

It's looking like one of those seasons where nothing goes right. The play is way too up and down and it's going to be hard for them to sustain success with leaky defense, poor goaltending and suspect coaching. Looking like a lost season unless they land a goalie and catch fire.

This is nothing new with the post-playoffs mental case version of Vitek that he's been reduced to.

This is the third time this has happened since game 4 of the Hurricanes series.

It happened against the Islanders a few weeks ago and it happened again tonight.

Only I don't think it was ever 3 goals in 69 seconds before tonight. This was a new low.

It was more like 3 goals in 5 minutes or something those two times.

Which worries me as one uncommon denominator was Brunette.

Devils added a guy who crushed it with Florida and the Devils team play got way better. 2 years ago and this year without Brunette and the team play seems non-existent most of the time.

Considering Nashville is doing better than us despite having a worse roster AND Saros having the worst year of his career. I don't see how anyone could disagree

I get McDavid is other worldly but Vitek flopping like a fish out of water was a tough watch. I thought he maybe got interfered with at first, then I realized it was just him.

Not for nothing though, the top 6 was not noticeable tonight. If it weren’t for McLeod, Mercer and Timo potting one, I don’t think we’d have a goal tonight.

Luke looks better than how Jack looked at his age/in his first year in the league and he'll 100% be in the same category.

Umm not exactly. At his age Jack put up 56 in 49 or whatever it was. That was his breakout season.

Not sure Luke will ever reach his brothers offensively but he should have more defensive potential with his size and skating.

Maybe don't be stupid and give up multiple grade A chances after you had the intermission to talk about how to play it? Maybe call a timeout after the Draisailt goal to calm your team down? Idk maybe the coach should do something to earn his paycheck instead of sniff his nuts on the bench

To be fair, the great coaches are all currently employed, so anybody we bring in is going to have question marks. None of the retreads really interest me, but if we fire Ruff I don't think it'll be for some unknown or unproven name.

Yeah, I think people are just pining for him because he won the cup as a head coach.

Problems go deeper than that. We are broken on defense too. The turnover to Draisaitl is the one that turned this game around. Bahl can’t try that pass. Then Vanicek loses it on the subsequent rush. If we don’t make that one turnover right after McDavid ties it, this game is probably still tied.

I have been saying we have a defense problem this season. Games can't always be won by more goals.

This team was fine defensively the last stretch of games, I said it in the general thread. This team can't defend/score in a singular game, it's one or the other. They can defend but then you're looking at 2-3 goals max being scored and if they can't defend then you're looking at 3-4 goals scored while the team gives up 6-7
