Problems go deeper than that. We are broken on defense too. The turnover to Draisaitl is the one that turned this game around. Bahl can’t try that pass. Then Vanicek loses it on the subsequent rush. If we don’t make that one turnover right after McDavid ties it, this game is probably still tied.

the defense isnt that broken. they need to stop playing smith, and try to get another d man so siegs can be thrown the other way.

Which worries me as one uncommon denominator was Brunette.

Devils added a guy who crushed it with Florida and the Devils team play got way better. 2 years ago and this year without Brunette and the team play seems non-existent most of the time.

I don't ever wanna see Vitek again and I'm not sure you can go back to Schmid for what I think is a MUST WIN game after being pulled 5 minutes into the last game.

I'd rather see Daws.

I think I would have been less upset if they didn’t have a lead at any point during this game. If you’re down the whole time, the loss is expected and you accept that.

But what a tease to battle back to be up by a goal after two periods, only to piss it away immediately. The game was ours for the taking but we couldn’t do it.

I'd be willing to give Lindy a break if he wasn't micromanaging himself into abyss, there's next to no reason why Smith should be playing. There's no reason why Mercer should've been centering Timo for as long as he did, there's no reason for him to be musical chairs in net, there's a whole laundry list with him but the team just isn't good this year.

If you think the goalie is the only reason they're losing this game, you're very wrong.

I’m sure it isn’t…but it’s a really bad look when you give up three goals in 69 seconds to turn a lead into a two goal deficit. That’s the definition of ‘make a ****ing save’
