Tom's seat better be hot when they miss this year.
That's why he's gotta fire Ruff if they miss the playoffs this year.

When the last GM brought back Hynes after one playoff miss, which followed a playoff year, he waited way too late that year to fire him and was fired himself about 5 or 6 weeks later.

We're further along as a franchise now where we can't bring back Ruff after a playoff miss.

It's highly arguable that he should have been brought back in 22-23 to even have the kind of season we had last year.

He's not good

Get Evason if anybody

But even I'm wary on him. He was the guy that kept playing Fleury over Gustavsson both last year and this year.

And notice since Hynes took over that isn't happening anymore. Fleury has only played during back to back sets and I think just one other time that wasn't during a back to back.

Which goes to show that was all Evason.
not any good ones around

He has to fire Ruff before that.

To be fair, the great coaches are all currently employed, so anybody we bring in is going to have question marks. None of the retreads really interest me, but if we fire Ruff I don't think it'll be for some unknown or unproven name.

As a fan, If Ruff isn't fired, I'm convinced Fitz also has Shero syndrome and that is very concerning.

It's not really about trying to get someone who is "good" at this point.

Ferraro nailed it on our defense simply being young, and it being a real point of significance. And it’s true. It really can’t be overstated enough. It’s starting to show.

It’s one thing with living with mistakes, but this game is quite another thing.

Not an excuse. Ruff is the one using a system that is complicated even for veterans. It's on him.

It has nothing to do with Luke and Nemec, the last goal was on Luke tonight but it's literally Siegs/Marino/Bahl with their heads up their asses. I don't care the mistakes the youth make, I care with the veterans look like fried ass this year because we have lengthy deals with them.

Yeah, I think people are just pining for him because he won the cup as a head coach.

So did Randy Carlyle. Maybe we can bring him out of retirement if we can't get Berube?

Berube and that year's Blues team were literally the epitome of ''Just make the playoffs! All you gotta do is get in and anything can happen!''.
I don’t think Berube is a bad coach. They had good to great underlying numbers before Armstrong let their d-core rot by letting Peterangelo walk. They were arguably the best team in the west the next year when Covid hit before Bennington melted down in the bubble.

He also isn’t the answer here.

Travis Green will take over he is a disaster.

I will die on the hill that Jack liking him saved Ruff's job. I remember Nico giving a very lukewarm exit interview which made us all think Ruff was a goner

It's looking like one of those seasons where nothing goes right. The play is way too up and down and it's going to be hard for them to sustain success with leaky defense, poor goaltending and suspect coaching. Looking like a lost season unless they land a goalie and catch fire.
1995-96 season.

Bahl is not a veteran. Don’t label him that. He’s got hardly more experience than Luke and Nemec.

And again, I don’t like that we can give the young guys a pass but the veterans can’t make any mistakes. They all have to play together and read off each other. It’s an adjustment phase for all of them, it doesn’t happen overnight. And the system itself being overly complicated is a tough ask as well.

And this team DOES play worse with Vitek in net.

It's like when you first get your drivers permit and you drive with that one nagging, asshole parent or whoever, who makes your nervous and gives you anxiety that makes you do stupid stuff on the road. Like come close to hitting pedestrians or parked cars.

That's exactly how this team plays for Vitek. Nobody trusts him back there. He doesn't trust anybody back there and he doesn't trust himself.

Bahl has more experience than Hughes and Nemec combined, so yes I'm going to differentiate them and not to mention he looked completely fine in the playoffs. He looks nothing like that in a more elevated role which is cratering us beyond belief.

BTW, I didn't watch the game (I always DVR it then decided to look at the trainwreck that occurred in the 3rd).

Did Ruff put Bratt with Hughes at any point in the game? Just wondering....

Schmid gives up bad goals. Vitek gives up and rebounds that leaves the defense scrambling (and gives up bad goals).
