Snow clearing (City of Edmonton):

I signed up for notifications of snow clearing. Today the city informed me that my area is to be cleared starting tomorrow morning. Since I park on the street, I will have to look for elsewhere to park. Problem is, the site is confusing. For one thing, on the map, it is not updated. My area is going to be cleared tomorrow, but it is cot coloured or mentioned as being "scheduled for clearing" which is bizarre considering that they are starting in my area a 7 AM tomorrow.

I am looking to park somewhere close by, but have no idea where, as it's convoluted, and I am unsure of my options. Any advice would be appreciated.

PS...Forgive me, I am a Jets fan living in Edmonton. However, when I was in Winnipeg in June, we all were rooting for the Oilers

Hopefully the city has the snow clearing issues looked after by the time I get back from Mexico the middle of March.

Winter Parking Bans | City of Edmonton

A parking ban can be declared during the winter season with 8 hours notice.

A note as well that just because they say they are clearing your area right now it could take days and the City takes up to 14 days to get to some streets, side streets. My hunch would be a side street would be your best bet right now and not the front street outside your house if thats any kind of feeder route, bus route etc. Its often specific to layout of the area and any description cannot really spell everything out. You have no driveway or assigned parking spot?

I live in an area that is older, therefore has a grid system. Luckily I was able to park 100 meters south, where there is no parking ban, so everything worked out OK.

Temps have been very nice lately, but with the freeze/thaw cycle, it's basically an obstacle course on the roads to steer clear of the potholes.

With the melting its filling in the gaps and we have freshly surfaced parking lots and sidewalks by a zamboni. Would rather it just be -10 to -20 for 3 months and then thaw.

And these winds should polish the roads and everywhere else real nice. Yes be careful walking and driving.

Extremely ugly, I go into Montanas Tamarack to pickup takeout, all is somewhat calm, 5 mins later Come out to a hurricane with snow.

Yup the freeze thaw stuff just sucks terribly. The way my driveway and cul de sac drain I estimate I have about 4-6 inches of solid ice at the base of my driveway to the curb and there’s just nothing that can be done until spring.

Same here, drive my daughter home from like 20 blocks over and damn it was slippery and hard to see even in town lol.

I just went a full half hour on the shovel to clear some snow and sidewalk here in Jackson Heights. was nuts. Wanted to keep going but 11pm hit and didnt want to be that asshole neighbor, but driveway cleared and some sidewalk too.

Phoenix trip on Feb 22nd cant come any faster for me. Bring on Spring Training and ASU baseball

I hear you. +26 right now in Bucerias, but there is some wet snow in my glass, and more in the forecast.

The city sidewalk in front of my driveway has a low spot and creates a little pond every melt. This is not extra work that I need to keep it clean and not slippery.

They are in great shape already. Enjoy your trip next month. Feb is a nice month to visit. All my adult kids and others are staying in Feb, otherwise I’d offer you some space!

Had the snowblower out at 730AM this morning. It's electric and very quiet. Can't believe I am born and raised in Edmonton and I have never bought one until this winter lol. I love finishing it all in 5 minutes.

Picked up one of those mini e-shovels for the sidewalks and the deck, and was surprised how well they work. Combined with the blower really don’t even use a regular shovel anymore.

yeah, I use the blower for my front door and steps. I barely use a shovel. I know wat you are talking about. Snow shovel electric thing. good for decks and sidewalks

Spring training is fun. It’s like a month long festival of rabid ball fans from all over USA congregating here. People are happy to be out and about. Lots of families and generations sharing their love for their teams. Much different than the crowd/vibe during the Waste Management Open or even Barrett Jackson. Scottsdale gets overrun with Midwest pasty white fans from Milwaukee, Chicago, KC, Cleveland etc.. it’s good!
