Nylander is good but his results are a product of playing with Matthews. Put Marner with Matthews and both of them will do much better. Put Nylander with Bozak and JVR and we'll see the truth with Nylander.

I'd trade him for someone like Hanafin in a second.

You're clueless. Nylander drives the line. Watch the games, please. Thank you.

Matthews and Nylander are both benefiting from playing with one another, as they are both amazing talents. "put Marner with Matthews and both of them will do much better"

Matthews is currently leading the NHL in points. This is one of the worst posts I've ever seen on this forum.

You guys need to stop watching the puck. How many times has Nylander missed a pass or play set up by Matthews. How many times has he missed hitting Matthews with a pass or not even seen the opportunity? Do you not notice the space he gets which is created by Matthews? He's always about a half step behind Matthews. Marner is the only Leaf that will be able to keep up with Matthews and that will be exciting.

This is an absolute joke. What is wrong with you? Nylander creates plenty of space. Did you even see Matthews' first goal? That was all Nylander gaining the zone, drawing in players (twice), and creating space. Nylander's board play has also been phenomenal. He is in no way a half step behind Matthews. When he was without him in preseason, he still looked great.

Even Babock is amazed with Nylander's performance this year.

You're a parody at best.

What an embarrassing post. Nylander has been equally as impressive as Matthews. Without Nylander matthews doesn't get anywhere near 6 goals.

I said Nylander is good. I even said .6 ppg good. That's the type of guys he is. Without looking I bet McDavid's wingers are doing better than usual too.

I looked, yep Erberle is at ppg. Why are you surprised?

How's this. Nylander might become almost as good as Erberle. Is that enough?

Try this for one period. When Matthew's line is out don't look at where the puck is but where it should be going. Look for that while being aware of the open spaces. Focus on that and you will see the light.

:biglaugh: you can't be serious with that. Nylander's ceiling is higher than Eberle's ever was as a prospect. He's easily been our best player this year and if you actually watched a game or two Matthew's is benefitting as much or more from Nylander than vice versa.

Matthews, Nylander, Marner and Rielly are all untouchables for the Leafs. I could see us moving anyone else, but these 4 are the future, they're the core we'll build everything around. There is just zero reason for us to trade any of them.

Shame on me for wanting Ritchie on draft day. Though I did argue since Willie was drafted that he's not the answer at C, he's ceiling is higher on the wing and he looks pretty much perfect on Matthews wing.

This will be a scary good trio in a few years.

Why would you waste Marner on the 3rd line? Swap him and Sosh.

in todays nhl teams need balance and depth. its not the "3rd line" in the historic sense. it gives leafs 3 lines that can score and play defense well.

imo if kessel isnt on pens 3rd line in cup finals they might not win. tremendous depth having crosby, malkin, kessel each on a line.

Nylander does not get Hanifin.

based on? #1C prospects and #1D prospects are similar value (see Jones for Johansen) and Hanifin shoots the wrong way to have maximum value as a rare commodity

If it's because of the additional year of NHL experience for Hanifin that's fine, but then that is also quickly disappearing as a reason

Nice FF quote, I got it

Only problem is that he lost, or are you implying that Leafs fans believe their "Ferrari" is going to get smoked by another teams "lesser on the surface, jacked up under the hood"?

You are speaking like a coach/scout. Very few people have that kind of understanding. Most just "puck watch" as you said and can't truly tell a players "understanding" of where a play SHOULD be developing.

I just think that you are asking too much for most fans and especially, based upon what most normally spew on here, the fans on this forum
