Talk to me when your team decides to leave the basement. It'll be another Hab whine fest if Nylander hits free agency and ignores Montreal.

Maybe the Habs should give the sex offender a few games. Can't be worse than what they have now.
sex offenders? leave Maple Leaf Gardens out if this.

Habs tanked in 2022

Leafs tanked in 2016

hopefully it pays off for one of them in the play offs some day !

Arguably the best player in the nhl this year right now. He’s been incredible. His 200ft game has reached an all time high. Game breaker.

Very good player, but IMHO a minor quibble that a "star" means one is known by local sport fans generally and perhaps even by the fans of a sport league generally, while by contrast a "superstar" is somebody known nationally, if not internationally, by average folks who may not even follow any sports at all, e.g., Shaquille O'Neal, Patrick Mahomes, etc.

A good rule of thumb is whether somebody has been in an insurance commercial or appeared in network commercials for non-sports timeslots, If not, at best they are a mere star.

Of course, somebody could be a "superstar" to you subjectively, and there is nothing wrong with that if it makes you happier.

By that logic there has never been and never will be any superstars in ice hockey

Just in time for FA.

Fr tho, he’s always been better than Marner and has been their 2nd best player

This is going to be exciting to see how the Leafs find a way to sign him. The way he is playing he will get 12-13M easily, especially with the cap going up a few million next year. Guy is on pace for 130 points

Tbf, if Willy keeps this play and pace up ( I think he’ll drop off somewhat), wins the Ross, Hart and, again, be the Leafs best player in the playoffs - will the “it’s contract year”-crowd still “blame” it on that?

The man is beast moding himself. He is consistently the teams best player in my opinion in the games I have seen. He just oozes that confident swag right now.

I know it would never happen, but it be some feat if he could find a way to produce a point in every game this year. You'd have to just love to see it!

Contract time too for the lad, will they sign him before deadline or there playoff run? Barring some wild injury he is getting a truck full of money his way soon

and that would be a bad thing why ?
Have you looked at his last team?

as long as they beat the leafs against when they get there .

enjoy that one round win ...only took 20 years and 5 GMs. ha!

It’s always quality entertainment when fans of lottery teams try to make fun of playoff teams

Montreal chose Reinbacher, Slaf and Kotkaniemi instead of Michkov, Cooley and Tkachuk. ha!

We know they stink. We don't pretend other her wise.
But since you brought up entertainment - when lottery team eliminates your contending leafs game 7 in your own barn.
For an encore ... tiny rookie winger named Caufield out plays and out scores Marner .

"We want Florida" !! ( ;

Gretzky, maybe, and that's it. Niche sports don't produce superstars, about the closest they get is in those ESPN office spoofs.
Within the sport players are fringe players, role players, regulars, semistars, stars, superstars and franchise players.

Is this the year Caufield scores 30?

He's always been a very talented player, easily the guy who scares you the most on the Leafs. Mathews is an elite goal scorer and Marner a playmaker, this guy has it all. Will be interesting to see if he can keep it going, the Leafs will have to dig deep to keep him.

actual awe inspiring vision still being able to see the ice this well even though his eyes must be literal dollar signs by now outplaying Matthews in his contract year

The payoff to Toronto‘s trouble due to paying 4 players what they do being to pay 3 players the same amount is going to be hilarious.
