LMAO. That was bad at the time, but my god, that aged so much worse.

1. Neither got 11m.Backstrom who has 30 goal seasons, 100 pt seasons, a stanley cup, and is a HOFer cant get 10M ..... But Marner who has NON of these things got 11M ???
2. Backstrom is not a HOFer yet, and Marner will absolutely be a HOFer when his career ends too.
3. Backstrom was 30 when he won his Stanley Cup.
4. It's been over a decade since Backstrom's singular 30 goal, 100 point season.
5. Marner paced for 30 goals and 100 points last year, and he also paced for/got higher point totals in his age 21 and 22 seasons than any other season Backstrom had, despite Backstrom's greater production opportunity.
6. Backstrom signed at age 32, through age 37 (which includes some heavy decline years), coming off a season pacing 16 goals and 72 points.
7. Marner is a better player than Backstrom ever was, and signed through his prime years.
8. This is a Nylander thread.
Not sure where you got this idea. For the record...No playmaker has ever been paid like Marner.
Goals as a percentage of total points, at time of signing contract:
McDavid = 31%
Marner = 30%
