Unless you are the biggest hater and Willy is living rent free in your life, Willy's effort in game 6 has no correlation in losing Game 6.

The fact is he almost won us the game putting up 2points putting us 720 seconds away from bouncing Tampa.
I can't imagine anyone pining the loss on him, that's absurd. He played really well for the most part last night.

Every player makes mistakes every game. That's not at all the issue with Nylander. With Marner I never have to question his work ethic, his desire to win or his commitment to the team, because it is all very obvious from his play. Marner is a heart and soul player through and through. And yeah, he f***s up sometimes, but you live with it because you know 100% he gave it his best effort. Marner and Nylander are approximately equal in talent but Marner is the far superior player because of his work ethic and heart.

You also have to consider how having a lazy yet talented player effects the team morale. You have guys on the third line working their asses off every shift and then Nylander is just out there coasting half the time. That must rub guys the wrong way.

There is very little difference between marner and Nylander when the games get tough.

Over the past 2 playoffs Nylander leads the team in goals and points.
Over the past 3 playoffs Nylander and Matthews are tied in points (leading the team), with Nylander leading in goals.

Looks like the pressure gets to some more than others.

Nylander has great talent BUT between him and Marner I choose Mitch every single time and 3 times on Sunday.

7 points in 6 games….
Playing primarily with kampf and engvall

Marner is playing with Matthews and bunting

Marner is better no doubt, but yet again Nylander is stepping up

Willie almost single handedly won us game 5, he along with Tavares almost won us game 6 too

I don’t think we win Saturday, even with all the big 4 showing up, but there is no way you can blame any of the big 4 for this series. All have had moments of being our top two players

Matthews Marner game 1-4
Nylander tavares game 5-6

It’s gonna suck when whoever we trade has a kessel like redemption

Depends i would take Nylander if i my biggest need was a sniper and a lower caphit. But for 11mill i would take Matthews over Marner 4 times on Sunday.
Mathews is a generational center and easy choice.

Does anyone have the amount of time these groups go up against Hedman?

Willie been playing great since Game 4.
In general, I can see why some here are crapping on Willie with his effort level… but you can’t do that for his last game bc he was pretty much our best forward. He was all over the ice and played really well. I think he played against Kuch and Stammer too.
Yes, there was an icing play he should have gone all out but what other the play he set up JT right before the end of the 2nd period or how he played in the 3rd, always making the save play.
Don’t let ONE instance cloud you of his performance last night.

That's my point leaders lead and followers follow .. leaders do whatever it takes to win .. score a goal fine .. take a big hit fine .. make a beauty saucer pass fine .. come backcheck hard and make it hard for your man to play offense fine .. lay a hit fine .. block a shot fine .. do whatever it takes to win .. kinda like Marchand (although guy is a jerk) .. always make da right play no matter what all da time .. you can't have specialist passengers who have limited times in which they do da right thing .. do da right thing all da time on every shift in da playoffs .. winners win losers lose
You completely missed my point - not everyone has to be a leader, what matters is that Nylander has been a HUGE net positive. And as far as your line "specialist passenger", Nylander has been anything but a passenger and if you think otherwise then I honestly don't know what the hell you've been watching.

I get your point totally .. rewatch game 6 .. there are many circumstances where Willy and Mitch and even Matty could have sacrificed more to da team .. scoring is only 1 part of game and in playoffs not even da key part

You don't get my point at all. Don't just rewatch one game, that doesn't tell you the whole story. Every player has moments where they don't look good but if the big picture shows them as a NET POSITIVE, that's all that counts.

Good term! All our stars have met this standard vs Tampa. Just need them all to do the same in game 7.

I lm a fan of willy but I think we should trade him while his value is all time high.. get 1st and 2 high prospects for him.

He's a good PPG winger and will get you points, but when you need him to dig in the dirt he just isn't that player, and we have enough PPG players on our roster. Him giving up on plays in the playoffs is unacceptable and also kills your team's spirit watching it, it's embarrassing... He isn't a rookie anymore. We need more play off type players now. Even Phil Kessel would dig in corners come play offs.

Good lord. Did you miss when Nylander drove fearlessly to the net in game 5 and got knocked on his ass while almost scoring? Nylander has gone into the corners and to the net plenty this series.

I don't get why people keep wanting to trade this guy when he's outplayed 99% of the roster over the last two playoff series. Marner didn't even have a playoff goal in 3 years going into this series.

In playoff hockey it is not about LOOKING good or bad .. it is all about showing up every shift to sacrifice for your team in whatever way presents itself each shift .. da team which has more guys who don't sacrifice in a particular game generally loses .. now it is mostly same guys game in game out who sacrifice but it varies a little game to game

Nah apparently we'll be better off with some grinder who can't score goals. Points = bad in the playoffs, remember?
