An example of making up some fictional proposal as a way to prove some imaginary thoughts that some are accused of having.

Happens all the time here, it’s really weird.
I don't remember anyone specific saying give up boatloads for Fluery, but there certainly were a lot of people who thought we should have given up the 1st round pick + for him.

And to be fair, Nylander was being run out of town a couple of days ago.

My only thought is if Dubas is the worst GM, and Nylander is the absolute worst and you can't win with him. How the hell do the Leafs get a top pairing D for him?.

Wouldn't that make the other GM the worst?

Depends which Nylander shows up.
I'm betting we get the game 5 version tonight and he's instrumental in them closing out the series.
I hope we get the best version of the whole team. We need that to win. Or Matthews in beast mode.

Nylander ISNT and NEVER has been THE problem with this club. It's breathtaking the want for some for that to be the case. We need to be surgical in our focus. If we aren't, we feed the monster and we scapegoat and the only winner in that game is our much beloved, ever loyal media monolith.

Intestinal fortitude in the midst of the panic is required here.

Coach inspired:

…and again.

One of the laziest players I've ever watched. Game 6 OT isn't enough motivation to get this guy to forecheck.
Awful take. He was the high man back in case Tampa revovered the puck. He back checked like crazy.

Think I'm ready to move on from Nylander. I expected more from him.
More than 15 points in 13 games?

Nobody has ever denied his talent level or his ability to put up points, but there's more to the game than just putting up points. The guy just sets a terrible example with his work ethic. I don't want guys on my team who think they're too good to forecheck and play defense.

Not much difference between the high priced talent in the real season.
hot take hot take hot take warning:

Matthews seems to get "it's just a bad matchup for him stylistically" 'd every post season by one of the other team's centres. It feels like the other centers just shut him down and his line is hemmed in most of the time in his own zone.

Last year it was Danault being a bad matchup, before it was Bergeron and Chara with us saying "how many 6'9 defenceman HHOF'ers are there he'll retire soon", and this year it's Brayden Point. He is as productive as he is despite being outmatched head to head not because of the matchup. It's not just about his production, being hemmed in his zone and being outplayed is for one not what we expected out of him and 2) swings momentum against us and gives the opposition favourable matchups/o zone faceoffs.

I think he loses that icing. What's the point of taking himself out of the rest of overtime just to enter a useless race.

Even still, after the game he just had, how do you choose THAT as a factor to cancel everything out.

He's been our best forward for about 7 and a half periods in a row now. If he's the best forward in game 7 again that makes him the best forward for half the series.

A select few will lose a lot of sleep over that.

Lazy but effective Nylander with two points in a potential close out game and not on the ice for a goal against. Not skating hard for the icing was annoying but he was what? Our third maybe second best forward.
