I was thinking the same thing with his performance last night. Then Tampa won anyways so it didn't end up mattering at all.

I think he only really struggled in the third quarter.

First half of the season and last quarter he did well. Disappeared in Q3.

This is a fair assessment. There was definitely a stretch in February where he didn’t look so hot. But I’ve had zero complaints with Willy’s play the last roughly month and a half.

Near PPG despite struggling for half of the season is nice. We need him to be great in the playoffs again.

Willy gets no respect from the organization

Not a huge deal and I hope Willy doesn't feel too slighted by it. Definitely weird that Bunting and Brodie make it in over your number 1 goalie and 80 point winger but this is the Leafs organization, nothing surprises me.

Maybe they were going for a certain aesthetic and Nylander's overly good looks just didn't fit the bill.

Tampa should be very worried this guy didn't need rest in the final game and easily put up 2 high skill goals. His reaction was like "I didn't even want these goals but everyone else is so much worse than me it's impossible to not score".

45 goal pace final 20 games and can't make the banner.

High end players sit, you have to play. Telling Nylander he's in the same tier as Jake Debrusk, not Pastrnak.

Won't be surpised if Nylander has plans to leave at free agency so he can light Keefe up.

Willy is the guy I'm least worried about stepping up in the playoffs to be honest. I have no doubt he'll deliver, he likes the big games and historically he's outscored Matthews and Marner at 5v5 in the playoffs despite not getting to play PP1 for most of that time and often getting shafted with line situations (e.g. having to play 3C when Kadri got suspended)

Also worthy of note, William Nylander outscores David Pastrnak for the first time ever in their careers with 80 points to 77. Nylander played more games and Pastrnak had more goals at 40 to 34, but it's nice that after all these years Nylander's back at a similar level as our old nemesis.

They will have no choice but to focus on Matthews and Marner. Dont care if Nylander get points as long as he is hard to play against. No complains, this far.
