William Nylander appreciation thread

People are saying throw him under the bus sparks him, benching sparks him. Yeah but its just a spark. When the slump is this long something else is wrong , i think the coaches/teams needs to be better at finding the real issues, not just take the easy benching , blaming in media (stupid as hell in Toronto) way out. FInd the real issue , do something about it, and then you get consistensy. Maby Nylander need professional help. Maby throughout the season, hire the same dude Bratt in Jersey has, seems to work for him.

Or just get JT the hell out of there. Make the 33mill line. The second line cant be worse with Bunting.
Why JT u might say. Because Matthews and Marner are in charge and the dudes the coaches are listening to. Maby JT dont want to move and Matthews and Marner prefer to play with Bunting. Then things wont change, Keefe is not in charge.

The team will be better with JT and Nylander on different lines. But probably not with Nylander on the 3rd or 4th line.

I dont think Nylander dont care. The same was said about Marner when he had a bad stretch and i dont think Marner cares more now, when he is at his best. He has just found the flow somehow. Hope Nylander finds it in time to the playoff.

Nylander off the line JT scores as did his line mate but JT is the problem. People need to watch the games with their eyes open. Nylander on any line kills possession as he does not want to work to get the puck back. He needs to be a health scratch for a game or two to get some motivation to compete.

Nylander is a player who has always played like he is now. Disinterested!’Morgan is currently carrying a 3 pair D partner and playing against the best forwards in the league. He is more then fine defensively. Willy is simply lazy

I'm technically a Boomer and I appreciate things Nylander does. Like the subtle stick lift on the defender for Tavares' 2nd goal last game. Lets keep generalizations about age and generations out of it. It's lazy. Regardless, Nylander himself admits he needs to back check and commit more to defence. He doesn't have a frenetic skating style, so it looks like he isn't playing with urgency, but he is usually positionally smart, and usually is excellent on both ends of the ice. He's in a slump.

Plus/Minus? Really? Mo has a worse relative xGf% at 5 on 5 than Nylander does, has more than 2.5 times the giveaways Nylander does while having 40% less takeaways. Who cares about Rielly "trying" harder when there is a real possibility he is a worse defensive player than Nylander is? Nylander is worth his contract with his offense alone. He doesn't need to be a great defensive player for us to be a net positive.

Honestly i was just kidding lmao. Although it is true that every fan I know personally over 50 hated William haha. Some of these guys took the comment waaaaay too seriously.

But how quickly people forget who actually showed up. Especially when he carried a line single handedly with John not even there. But JT always gets a pass due to the 'intangibles'. What bs, his contract is the single worst contract on this team. I'd love to see the guys who want William gone replace 75 pts with sub $7m. It's not happening.
