I will drop it now and only bring it up if we lose to Texas or KC.

But seriously Osuna is probably our 3rd best reliever right now.

we could have had home field and still lose.

or win.

like. why go (or bring it up) at all. like dude, I'm quasi-new to this and even I know the playoffs can be completely and utterly bizarro-world.

apparently there is a flu going around in the dressing room, so having them in the the rain like that (or dreary weather ), wouldn't have been for the best.

Sunday the field was very slippery too..... Home field advantage over one team or Bautista/Donaldson slipping and out for the playoffs....hmmmmmm

And if David Price needs/asks for extra rest before the playoffs you give it to him.

Hamels pitches tomorrow which is good. Three days rest coming into Toronto.

Damn, if the Dodgers clinch home advantage against the Mets tonight then Kershaw probably rests tomorrow. No chance at 300 K's.

I honestly suspect the Jays have little concern about who they play and what the pitching situation is. If that's the case then finishing ahead of the Royals is about being the home team in a game that may not even be needed and only then if the Royals win their series.

Meh. Again, I really have absolutely no expectations for the playoffs. It's a gigantic glorified crapshoot. If we end up like the 2006 Twins/2002 A's who end up having a beyond amazing August and September run only to have a couple bad/unlucky games at the worst time possible. I won't be disappointed if we lose w/o a whimper in the ALDS. A great regular season is still a terrific accomplishment in baseball.

And facing the WC isn't the advantage it's cracked up to be. It's still a 5 game sample size where luck can totally influence the outcome of a series a hell of a lot more than on paper matchups. Is it an advantage on paper? Sure. But that's just looking at things in a vacuum. Not to mention the WC team's hitters had a chance to already play a game in between the 3 day rest a non-WC team would get, so they'll may not be as rusty as a non-WC team's hitters. Same goes for relievers. As for the whole concept of being rusty... hard to prove in baseball (just way too random), but it definitely has an effect in other sports (especially football, look at Peyton Manning getting the last 2-3 weeks of a season off only to come into the playoffs looking like it's preseason).

But... let's not forget. They did not get those crucial rest days the Jays got after their champagne showers.

In this thread you can clearly distinguish between the new/casual fans and those who have watched this team for years.

Everyone was once a new or casual fan - don't forget where you came from.

The A team only got one full day of rest and came out banging afterwards. Hardly rusty. Now, resting them tomorrow with 3 days of rest coming up would be pretty stupid. But if Tulo's playing tomorrow, I highly doubt the scrub lineup is out.
