He did it! Scherzer with his 2nd no hitter of the season. Becomes the 2nd pitcher since Nolan Ryan in '73 to do this. 17 K's. Incredible.

EDIT: Didn't realize it was a perfect game. Jesus, it gets more impressive.

it wasn't a perfect game. There was an error. Which isn't really fair to Scherzer but that's how it works.

Jeez. Good for him. Morrow had 17 too, I believe, in that one hitter. So close.

I want us to win tomorrow to head into the playoffs with a good mindset.

Good chance we go into playoffs losing 4 of 5 but #restmatters

A) You have a messed up perception of what constitutes a "good chance".

B) Rest does matter... a lot, actually.

C) Record in the few games leading up to the playoffs means literally nothing.

D) lol

I would
If it's 1 game to decide your season i would pull off all the stops

it's not 1 game to decide your season because if they lose they would get the 2nd WC and then face the Yankees.

Absolutely if it was win or be out you start your ace, but in the case of a Texas/Houston tiebreaker for the West the loser get the 2nd WC so it's 2 chances to get into the ALDS.

Your ace can only pitch 1 of them. So my theory was save him for the 2nd game(WC against NY), and pitch your 2nd best pitcher in the West tiebreaker, that way if you win you have your ace available twice for the ALDS, if you lose then your ace pitches in the WC game anyway, so you can only pitch your ace once in 1 of the 2 play in games, keep him for the must win 2nd game.

8-9 times out of 10 Osuna gets the job done. Did you guys know Mariano Rivera blew Game 7 of the 2001 WS?

They should since the Jays obviously don't care about home field. It's either him or hutch.

The only team they wouldn't have home field for would be KC in the ALCS. Lets worry about getting out of the DS before complaining about not having home field.

It's really unfortunate that the weather had such a big part in that Baltimore series. I hated that we fielded a AAA roster for two games, but you probably don't want your starters playing 3 games in 24 hours either, so I get giving them the second game off of the double header, it was giving them the game off the next day that I didn't agree with.

NYY lose! If Houston wins today and tomorrow and the NYY lose tomorrow, Houston gets homefield with Keuchel!

I honestly suspect the Jays have little concern about who they play and what the pitching situation is. If that's the case then finishing ahead of the Royals is about being the home team in a game that may not even be needed and only then if the Royals win their series.

Also, having that HFA can be dangerous because the ALCS and WS are 2-3-2, so if the Jays lose one of those first two home games, they are then on the road for the next three games.

Yankees lose twice today, they haven't locked up that 1st WC spot yet. They lose tomorrow, and Houston wins tonight and tomorrow it's a tie.

I will drop it now and only bring it up if we lose to Texas or KC.

But seriously Osuna is probably our 3rd best reliever right now.

apparently there is a flu going around in the dressing room, so having them in the the rain like that (or dreary weather ), wouldn't have been for the best.

you can't let them play hungover and in the rain, and asking them to not celebrate like that after winning the division you can't do either. KC did the same thing the day after they clinched and got 1 hit by Carrasco, and they did it without the rain.
