I'm not even worried his game will age badly either. He doesn't really rely on overwhelming speed or agility. Strength you don't really lose and he doesn't play that heavy in that his body will be broken like lucic and okposo
Unless he asks for Panarin money, he stays. I can see him taking a little less than Barkov for the team.

9-9,5M and 5yrs. He is worth it. I wouldnt like to signe 7-8yrs, but if he demands it, then hopefully 8,5M. He should retire a Panther.

If we can make some noise in the playoffs it'll be easier to re-sign him.

Price wise I expect it close to Barkov. Maybe .25mil per less

Zito's offer: $8milx5.
Huby will turn it down and eventually accept Habs' offer of $11milx8.
The Panthers dodge a major bullet and everyone can rejoice.

One reason to be happy the habs are dogshit, less likely Huberdeau goes home. Why would you spend a decade playing for a terrible Florida franchise only to leave right when things turn around for an even worse tire fire? I can't think of a bigger indictment on the league as a whole than the fact that team was able to coin-flip its way to a finals appearance.

Watching some of the other higher level guys playing so well into their mid-30's, I'm beginning to think views on the age curve should be adjusted. The older data was based on player histories when they didn't have the benefit of advanced sports medicine all the way from a young age. Guys now have the proper nutrition and training even before hitting junior in some cases, so maybe that's why they're lasting longer.

Super super impressed with Huber this season, he's really stepped up another gear. He still has some stretches during a season where he kind of goes missing, but he's learned to contribute better on the defensive end when that happens.

Still a bit hesitant that this may be his peark year, but I've changed my mind, can be persuaded to go $9-10M x 8 years for him. Good to have someone like him who wants to be here retire with this team and teach the younger guys, keep building up that culture.

Even if Huberdeau gets 10 per year, Weegar gets 7, and the cap doesn't move, the Panthers are fine cap wise for 23-24. We'd have about 71.5M tied up in the following:

Verhaeghe - Barkov - XX
Huberdeau - Bennett - Duclair
XX - Lundell - Reinhart
Lomberg - XX - XX

Weegar - Ekblad
Forsling - Montour
XX - XX

Current cap is 81.5M. Leaves about 10M to account for essentially 4 bottom 6 forwards, 2 bottom pairing D men, Knight, and your 13th F/7th D.

We'll just have to fill out those spots with ELCs or other ~1M players which is basically already happening. The following players this year are making 1M or less: Verhaeghe, Lundell, Luostarainen, Tippett, Marchment, Thornton, Mamin, Lomberg, Heponiemi, Carlsson, Priskie, Kiersted, Juolevi

It'll be really tight when you factor in yandle's $1.24M buyout and assuming we want to keep March, he gets a raise. Assuming he gets $3M, then that only leaves you with $5-6M for the rest of the roster.

Yandle’s money was included in the 71.5. We would have almost an even 40M at F, 20M at D, and 10M for Bob. Then 1.5 dead money

Ah right, so $71.7M. Add $5M between Knight and March, brings us to $76.7M.

Assuming cap rises to $83M, that means there would be $6.3M left for seven players. Not impossible, but it would require us finding more Lomberg's and some rookies stepping up, and almost no room to maneuver. So very tight.

9.5per would be perfect over 8 years. May get 10 like Barkov. Either way it’s most likely going to happen. If they offered him 8yrs at up to 10per I don’t think he’d consider other options. He’d sign

The 11+16 duo doesn't exactly grow on trees over years and years. Franchise leader. Huge part of the locker room and obviously on the ice. Keep him at all costs

Less than Reinhart?
He's gonna get 8 mil at minimum.
PPG wingers aren't easy to acquire.

I bet Laine is already heading to his buddy, with discount of course.. Not saying that is even wise move for Florida but easy one to acquire/ predict. :D

Huberdeau is scoring leader of the league at the moment, not sure if 8 mil will be enough. He has been now four years constantly over PPG and should get most of the team based on that alone.

Pay the price, keep him with any cost.

Big thing most people forget is that Huby now even plays PK - not judging if he is doing a good or bad job, but nevertheless he now plays in all situations. Unfortunately another facette of his game that drives up his price
