9th and 11th, but yeah, that's the risk. There was good reason for them to believe their 9th guy would still be there, though, otherwise there would be no reason to take that risk. The only thing that may have made this a bad risk by them is if #9 was a skill-tier cutoff point for them. If that were the case, it'd be too big a risk for my liking.
I'm actually surprised they went the European route. Brackett was known to have liked the NCAA kids.

Bankier on the ice for, perhaps, Canada's biggest goal of the tournament. Up by 2 but US was buzzing. 5-3 now.

Bankier has been great in his limited role. Hard on the forecheck and throwing big hits.
I thought so too - was hoping he'd score against Slovakia but drilled the pipe.

A blow out with Ohgren getting 1 goal and Peart being a -2 and no points in a 8-7 Bronze Medal win for USA.

Faber made a really nice play to help set up Cooley's OT winner today. Great defensive play turned into offense.

St. Cloud guys got a little too overconfident on that last shift versus who they were up against on the ice.... Faber was amazing all game. But GD Cooley is unreal good

Sammy Walker and Wallstedt were named to the AHL AllStar team. Deserved, I think. Wallstedt has been playing better lately, and Walker has had a vg season so far.

That's good to see and hear.
I'd like to see Rossi on there also, but they only name 12 players per division, and he missed quite a few games because he was in the NHL. Hard to argue that he has been better than Walker...I guess you could argue that he has been better than Wallstedt...maybe, but i think they got it right?

I think it's a popularity contest. McIntyre should be there not Wally.

The entire Central team is all 1st timers for the the ASG. Hard to compare Rossi (or Petan) to Wallstedt for a selection. I do think they took into account games played. The lowest number is 25 or 27 for the Division.

It looks like they took the high draft pick, young goalies over the older AHL (NHL) veterans.

There’s no way you actually just said this and can justify it.
McIntyre has had a better body of work than Wallstedt in the AHL going back to last year. He's also played 2 games less than Wallstedt.

If you can make the excuse that the team in front of Wallstedt was bad in the beginning, same can be applied to McIntyre.

Wallstedt has been getting more starts than McIntyre at this point (and McIntyre did get called up), so it isn't McIntyre's fault his numbers are bad.

But again this goes back to last season as well.

The all star game isn’t based on last year lol…

Wallstedt has better numbers on the same team. It’s insane to think that McIntyre deserves the all star game more so than Wallstedt. You literally don’t watch the games if that’s your opinion.

Wallstedt has really come on lately. Earlier on i would've taken McIntyre, but the AHL AS game is really all about young players.

McIntyre had a couple of bad games recently, but he is no Hunter Jones....more of a Andrew Hammond.

It remains to be seen whether Wallstedt has really turned a corner. I think he has. He obviously has the higher ceiling than McIntyre.

As i posted elsewhere, both goalies have been victimized by Iowa's lack of discipline, leading a lot of PP's against. They are now benefitting from getting vg AHL players back in the lineup after losing them to the parent team, or to injuries. His numbers don't show it, but Swaney looks good this year, and Petan, Walker, Fogarty, and Rossi are vg to EXC AHL players. Still missing Chaffee, and Hentges, though he is more of an unknown entity.

I’m not on Twitter, but if someone can find Walker’s goal from last night it’s worthy of posting on here. It’s a tease, for those of wanting to inject some skill in our lineup.
