Lekkermaki is out with a concussion. Never good.
Yeah, sorry, I wasn't trying to make light of his injury, if it came off that way.

No, I didn't take it that way at all. Was just adding info.Yeah, sorry, I wasn't trying to make light of his injury, if it came off that way.
Get your ass over to the Positivity Thread with those facts, pronto!End of 2 periods, Yurov has 1a in 19 seconds of play.
For fun: 60 minutes/gm x 60sec/min=3600 sec/gm
3600sec/gm/19sec/a=189a/gm
189a/gm x82gm/ season=15536a/season
Breaks Gretzky’s assist record by over 13000 in 1 season.
This Iowa team is really badWallstedt is getting shelled tonight. 22 shots against about 24 minutes in.
Not really, just a really bad tonight. They are getting outshot 2 to 1 by the worst team in their division right now, and getting beaten to every puck. This Iowa team is really bad
Apparently you have completely forgotten about 1C Ryan Hartman !!!!I have zero problems with taking Wallstedt. Goal scoring goalies are very hard to find.
Rossi was ranked as high as #4 in the draft, and was considered an automatic draft at #9. Personally, he never stuck out to me except for the fact that he scored a lot of points. When I pointed out that he seemed topped out in terms of height I was mocked, and that size didn't matter, just skill. I was also concerned about his speed, or lack thereof. If you are small, then you better be fast, in the vast majority of cases. I haven't lost hope with him, as he is smart, and skilled, but I wonder if he has the drive necessary to overcome his physical shortcomings. Guys like Marchand are obsessively competitive, to the point that it is almost a character flaw. He needs to be that.
Always liked Lundell, but was told that he was an awful skater and had limited upside. I saw good enough, and also thought, "I'll take another JEE" at #9.
Peart was taken because of his smarts, and his superb skating. Knies is a good pick after the fact, but no one was talking about him before the draft, as evidenced by his draft spot. It happens. If he was a C i'd be more pissed.
Too soon to say anything about Ohgren, or any of the others, for that matter. For all we know, Peart will end up being the best player out of all of them. Even JEE has only come into his own in the past couple of years, while Boeser has faded. I would bet 90% of you would've traded JEE for Boeser straight up 2-3 years ago, and were outraged about us picking JEE over him. Where are you know? Stand up, and be counted!
I have been banging the drum for taking Centers at all cost in the draft for years. It's easy to switch a C to W, rare to do the reverse successfully. If you aren't a C in junior, then it's very rare that you'll be one in the NHL.

I really really though that Rossi was going to be a super good NHLer (and he still could be) because he was one of the smartest junior players I’d watched and his compete was awesome to go along with solid skill and vision. My worry now is that the compete isn’t there and there is something of there from a mentality standpoint.I have zero problems with taking Wallstedt. Goal scoring goalies are very hard to find.

I agree, or at least worry that while he is a guy with good character, and really wants to be a NHL'er, that he doesn't understand just how much he is going to have to compete in order to make it, or at least, make it on the level that we want him to (top 6 C). Guys like Shaw and Dewar are not the most talented, and are small guys, but will do anything to make the league. Both can, and have fought guys way out of their weight class, block shots, and will basically do anything needed to stay up. I don't expect Rossi to be a fighter, or even a grinder, but he has to as mentally strong as them....stronger, really, because more is expected of him.I really really though that Rossi was going to be a super good NHLer (and he still could be) because he was one of the smartest junior players I’d watched and his compete was awesome to go along with solid skill and vision. We'll see. It's up to him, now. He looked very good in his first two games down in Iowa, but I saw signs of passivity creeping back in the 3rd game, when the team desperately needed a shot in the arm from someone, as they got shutout by the worst team in their division.
He’s gonna play for the Minnesota Wild at the end of the year.Well in a few more months Faber can be that shot in the arm for Iowa?
We've derailed the Faber thread. I'm as guilty as anyone, in not realizing it's the Faber thread and not the general prospect discussion.

StretchJust like Boldy did, right? MN is already 7 deep for NHL d-men.
Stretch
/shrug I'm not the one that paid Goli $2m.
Spurgeon is here forever. Addison is getting paid more than $2.5 mil next year, so he's not going to be sent down. Dumba is leading the team in ToI and MN is in a Playoff spot so he's not going anywhere.
So where does Faber fit in the lineup? Or even who is Faber better than in the lineup? The jump from college to the NHL isn't small.
2. What to do with Dumba?
Russo: This is almost surely Matt Dumba’s final season with the Wild after being drafted by them in 2012. He’s outlasted countless trade rumors and two expansion drafts, but it’s time. The Wild feel they are developing a strong defense corps and plan to sign Brock Faber after the University of Minnesota’s season. They believe Faber can step into the lineup right away, but the Gophers have national championship aspirations. Even just going to the tournament makes a Faber signing impossible until at least late March — or well after the March 3 trade deadline.
If Guerin could move Dumba in a parallel move, it’s likely he would do so. Dumba has played better lately, but he got off to a subpar start to his season and could be upgraded. It really wouldn’t be surprising if Guerin traded Dumba in advance of the deadline, even if the team is in a playoff slot.

Trade targets? Matt Dumba? Advancing in the playoffs? Russo and Smith on 6 burning questions about the Wild
The Athletic's Michael Russo and Joe Smith take on the biggest topics in the Wild's 2022-23 season.theathletic.com
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that is probably their plan. You can deny it or excuse it all you want.Is it a surprise to anyone that Russo has Dumba being traded? Russo has had him traded almost every season.
Lots of "ifs" and "coulds" in this article with nothing more than his own speculation. The only concrete thing to back his thoughs up is a quote from the GM talking nicely about a prospect.
Maybe the GM learned his lesson about fluffing the prospects a little here and there from McBain refusing to sign last year.
What a weird hill to die on.It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that is probably their plan. You can deny it or excuse it all you want.
Problem is that there's possibly a month of lag between the two events. Trade deadline is 3/3/23. If the Gophers make the Frozen Four, those games aren't until early April. Who is playing on the top pair with Brodin for that month?
