I have a hard time seeing an NHL player in ROR. Said it before but he does not have NHL tools and nothing about his junior game at his frame will translate to this level. The absolute best you can hope for in him is a serviceable third pairing defender.

Did the coach just tell him to start scoring? I'm being facetious, but I'd love to know what the difference is.
Chris Lazary’s system is based on high iq players making passes to spaces that guys slide into. It isn’t so much that you have 3 F and 2 D in the offensive zone but rather 5 attackers that rotate and occupy voids. Guys like Haight thrive in this system. Now he’s not going to continue to average over 2 PPG but he’s almost certainly going to be near PPG the rest of the year especially if they keep with with Michael Misa (as they should).

Well he doesn't fit here then, we'll have to trade him

I'm not too sure about ROR, but I like his skating, I like his size, his on man defending in the D zone, and his breakouts are competent. I would like to see him be more assertive, but that might come with time and confidence. He has a hard pass, and a reasonably hard shot from the point.

He just seems to be playing it safe, at this point. Could be worse things to have a mobile, defensive Dman in a couple/few years, especially once his man strength kicks in.

im not giving up on YUROV being a stud, i think the khl is unhappy hes not signing long term with them. he proved in the mhl he has skill. judd isn't a fool!

I certainly don't think he's done as a prospect already by any means - but I'd be lying if I didn't expect more. I think he can be a 5th/6th physical dman who has decent mobility. I guess I've just really liked Hunt a lot more than what was advertised based on what I read and saw of them for their respective junior careers.

It's just that we never got to see much of Hunt, because he had that awful skate blade injury, then a couple of others. He might've been a 2nd rounder, if not a late 1st, if he had stayed healthy...Covid shortened seasons made it near impossible for him to make up time.

ROR is fine...got an assist tonight, partially because he got his point shot off hard, and quick. Little thing, but important if you want to play in the NHL.

SJO does some surprisingly good things, but his skating is well behind the other two. He is also two years older, so he should be further along on the development curve, and he isn't.

How about Caedan Bankier? Certainly seems to be rising - invite to WJC and seems to be on scoresheet every night. Has had 2 or 3 nice spinmove goals the last couple of weeks. I have only seen highlights so can't speak to skating, defensive awareness, etc., but putting up the points is great.

Nice, but I don't get too excited about junior players unless they are absolutely dominant. Bankier is hardly that. At least he has good size and is a C. Will probably need to improve his skating quite a bit.

I disagree with that. I don’t think he’ll ever be a power play guy but Middleton plays on our top pair as a rugged shut-down guy. ROR has a chance to bring meow offense than him and maybe be a better defender.

I can’t say I’ve seen much of him but I think you’re hoping he’s a dewar type of prospect that you can develop into a bottom 6 guy.

What do you consider dominant? He's currently sitting at 22 in scoring for the WHL.

Based on seeing him in juniors and at WJC, I would agree with your assessment. But his play thus far in the AHL hasn't shown that. I haven't solely isolated his shifts when watching the Iowa Wild so it is possible I am missing something.

We’ll, Beckman led the WHL in scoring, and Sam Steel had 131 pts one year. They had dominant years, and look what they are now

The thing with Rossi is that he is good with creating space, and operating in space...in the AHL. When he has time to think and view the game he's very good, but it's almost all from the perimeter. In the NHL, time and space shrinks, and he hasn't been able to adjust to that, either mentally, or physically. He's not quick enough to skate out of trouble, and/or pass or shoot out of it. Hopefully he will be able to make the adjustment given a bit of time.

A guy like Walker has some of the same problems, but he's got speed to burn, so he can simply skate away from problems. He also is able to play in traffic reasonably well....I don't know if that is because he is a couple of inches bigger, 3 years older and stronger, or simply more inclined to battling.

I get your point - I guess I'm just excited to see him doing well this year. I wasn't that high on him or Pillar but getting invited to WJC camp must mean he's at least trending upwards.

Haight with another 2pts. Surpassed his 9pts in 20gp in Barrie with 10pts in 4gp with Saginaw
You wonder if there was something toxic going on in Barrie between Haight and the coach, team, or management. That's a pretty stark difference.

He is also playing with Misa now, that kid is a phenom. Could end up seeing some truly ludicrous numbers if he sticks around for another season and plays with Misa, could be really huge for his offensive development.
