Why was the Sharks broadcast team so upset Kadri wouldn’t fight last night?

So you don’t have any actual comments from Kadri, right? You’re just assuming that because Kadri played for DeBoer, the Sharks concluded that he bad mouthed DeBoer during the Tavares sweepstakes, and they tried to attack Kadri because of it? Sorry man, I’m not buying it.

The only other thing I can consider is that Tommy Wingels, who Kadri boarded in the playoffs last year, is a former Shark who spent most of his NHL career in teal. That’s not a logical explanation either.

Realistically, it was definitely the beard incident, but DeBoer is still a ****ing idiot for handling things the way that he did.

Thornton is a legendary hall of famer who beat the **** outta Jamie Benn, you’re outta line bud.
I still think that if it was Joe who was the angry one that usually the coach will try to reign in the players. This looked like the coach himself was the one who was angry over something. With that speculation in mind maybe Kadri shared/said something that influenced J.T. Or maybe Kadri just plain talked crap and that set off Deboer

Yeah one whole player went after him on the first shift. So rattled. I dont recall any Sharks player throwing a stick down the ice cause they were so mad

It made karlsson shit himself. I felt bad for him. The second he got punched back he froze up like a lil bitch

Kadri is a dirty player, so no surprise there and he does not back it up last night, no surprise there.

Lol! Retribution for accidentally grabbing someone’s 2 foot long beard during a fight? Okay, thanks for the 2 points SJ.

Hopefully we get to thank them for another 2 points in about a week.

The team was so focused on going after Kadri that they forgot there was a game to be played. I’ve never seen the Leafs get so many breakaways with such ease.

Hopefully they go after him again. Also, how is there no fine for DeBoer for stating it out loud that he sent someone on the ice for the sole purpose of going after Kadri?

Ya, I didn’t hear what he said from his mouth, maybe his words were taken a little out of context?

Kadri is the perfect leaf. Talks a lot of ****, plays like a rat, then when it comes time to answer the bell he runs away

He fought Thornton last year and they wanted revenge, why should Kadri engage a much lesser player and take himself out of the game for 5 minutes? Cry about your 2 points however you like.

And the Sharks scored 3 goals in that period and had the lead. What is your point?

Sharks lost because they didn't play well after the 1st. Too many mistakes and odd man rushes. Kadri had no impact on the outcome of the game.

Kadri living rent free since last season in The Sharks heads is truly wonderful.

I think he's living rent free in a lot of heads based on this thread. I love it!

It has more to due with the slash and fight on a player the Sharks rightly view as a HHOF that in his 40's shouldn't have to put up with that stuff from Kadri. It's not just the beard pull from last year, though after you did something to draw the ire of a 40 year old HHOF the beard pull doesn't help the telling of that story. The Sharks didn't appreciate Kadri going after Thornton on an opening face off when everyone in the league knew he was kind of beat up last year.

I am not saying they are right. Thornton has a history of fighting right at the hop of the game and wanted that piece of Kadri after the slash but I guess the full event didn't sit well with the Sharks. But the just the beard pull seems to go away from the event where the extremely high and hard chop on the wrist angered the Sharks.

But saying Kadri didn't start that fight last year, he slashed him in a way where guys get wrist bones broken ala the Giroux and Crosby feud. They don't like you intentionally chopping where areas aren't padded and especially not to star players that are well respected. I don't think it is just the beard pull is all, but only the Sharks truly know and they don't seem to be elaborating.

As to the broadcast seemingly in on it. Well they knew the Sharks were going to try to do something, they heard it throughout the day. They are embedded with the team, these guys don't wander into events like this without having heard the chatter from the room and knowing it is likely to unfold on the ice that night.

Cheap hits, dives, has one of those faces, the list doesn't really end for that guy.

You mean this face?

There are players that have earned the respect of the league not to fight in the twilight of their career. Yzerman, Sakic, Jagr and so on. Thornton isn’t one of them. The Sharks may view Thornton as untouchable, but the rest of the league doesn’t.

Gee, I thought it Karlsson the didn't want to fight.
Can we stop talking about Thornton as they great difference maker. He's had a fine long career. 11 playoff round wins what in about 19 NHL seasons.

I said I am not saying they were right, but I felt like that is what was going on there. They didn't like the totality of the event last year involving Kadri.

He is a teammate you will defend like that though if you think something has gone wrong. It is all the perception you are taking into it.

I agree though Thornton has spent far too much of his career as that rough player. For instance what if Kadri did the same thing to say Iginla late in his career. You would expect Iginla to respond the first time like Thornton but maybe the team thinks they want to pound the message in. They didn't do a very good job of it. But I think it is worth noting that this has more of a hey don't touch my star like that. Because Kadri is a 1st rounder that plays top 6 minutes and a good player he might rightfully in his mind believe he can do that. It would appear the Sharks disagreed, we shall see, seemed like a lot of wasted energy, just saying I could see a rational beyond just the beard pull is all.

I will just say at this point in time I don't question why people hate Abdelkader. I expect them to when the game starts. That is tough, but Kadri is a guy that plays hard and crosses the line from time to time. Other players don't like those players. He is very talented so he is more in line with the Wilson, Marchand group of players so not just running out Abdelkader to run him down, more just using my own team and player to show the point. I am never surprised when a player with a track record of being disliked, is being disliked in a game.

Kadri is in that group. But that is a part of what Kadri brings to the Leafs. They aren't the toughest group in the league so I think they should be happy that he can bring the ire out of opponents and rise above it. Kadri really has become a much better player, but he isn't a guy I care to root for. But, I understand the makeup and I see the value and you know if it was on your team you would value what he brings to a roster in my opinion.

He absolutely did. Leafs are 9-0 when scoring first. They scored as a direct result of some random going after Kadri. Goal goes in. Leafs remain perfect when scoring first. Kadri basically won that game last night.
They were losing after the 1st period. Sharks lost because their new system is dumb and they give up too many breakaways and odd man rushes.
