Looking at their roster, coach, coaching staff, GM. The fact that they were trash last season with pretty much the same roster and staff 27-46-9 | 248-307 (-59)

versus

11-3-0 | 51-36 (+15)

Unreal season, 100% unsustainable.
- I just hope that they wont end up like Buffalo Sabres, when they led the league early of that season

Avalanche had similar season with Roy. It was fairytale like and it never ended in the regular season. It did end in the first round of playoffs though. Haha.

Hot streak for now. Let's see if it becomes more.

A team can improve, ya know.

Hot streak sure but watching them play and one can see they are a rising team.

sure they won't keep up the pace but they are a legit playoff team this year and one of the big boys in the METROPOLITAN division will not make the playoffs this year or maybe both the capitals and Pens.

Say it with me people... Meaningful games in February, March and April. That's the bar. So far we're on the way to making that happen. Anything else is gravy. Metrics say the Devils are playing well. It's a long season, injuries, fatigue, and off nights are going to happen. Ups and downs. More ups than downs = a playoff spot. For me, I'm pretty happy right now. Time will tell but you can't deny the talent is there. Youth, talent and pepper in some experience and you have yourself a recipe for success.

Marino for Ty Smith
Severson down to 3rd line
Subban to ESPN
Dougie is healthy
Hughes and Hischier are playing at the same time
Vanecek doesn't stink
Brunette and McGill in for Recchi and Nasreddine
Tatar getting points
McLeod getting points
Wood is healthy
Zacha out for Haula
Palat in for Andreas Johnsson

Real f***ing mystery my dude

Will they continue at this pace? no. but yea they're an ok team
Vanecek still doesn't solve their goalie problem but at least he's NHL caliber.

They have 2 legit centers who are maturing as players in this league. Any time you have two legit centers you have a chance if a few guys around them step up and play well.

Hischier is underrated, Hughes has all the talent you could ask for.

They have the best team in the NHL analytically. They have a strong D group in Hamilton, Marino, Severson and Seigenthaler. They've got 1st overall picks in Hischier and Hughes who are playing up to that pedigree, plus Bratt. They have a number of middle-six caliber players that are playing near their peak.

Not really surprising at all TBH.

I mean he has so far, he was brought in as a stop gap. If he's the one who's preventing them from taking the next step from winning a Cup then Fitz will go out and get a big fish goalie in the next 2-3 years.

If you exclude like 5 forwards and 1 d-man, its AHL level roster on paper.
and they are still coached by Lindy Ruff... LOL

Strange times in the NHL.
What? This is probably the dumbest post I've ever read & that's saying something. We literally don't have a single AHL player on the team. The fact that we have Holtz ( a grade A bluechip prospect) riding the bench shows that. We are incredibly stacked & if you think we have a team of AHL players then your knowledge on hockey is awful. Our defense is incredible and hands down one of the best in the league. We're literally playing Severson on the 3rd pair (whose going to be one of the main prize UFA dmen this upcoming offseason). Our offense has 3 ppg players with Bratt over a ppg, Nico who has exploded & Hughes. Hamilton is healthy with a near ppg and all 4 lines are contributing. We have probably the best 4th line in the league. Right now they're playing like a .5ppg or above as 4th liners. Our entire team doesn't have a single player that doesn't belong here (Besides Smith). Haula has been snakebitten & Mercer/Sharangovich have underperformed. Bring Palat back in with Mercer/Sharangovich regaining their past forms then we become an actual juggernaut.

If you can't understand why the Devils are good this season, you should be questioning why you feel you're qualified to be making 2-3 main board threads per day. You simply don't understand hockey.

I always wait 41 games to judge.

As for my Jets I love the outcome so far. But... they may lose all the games of the season.

Not true . New assistants that actually know what they are doing helps. Getting saves and playing with confidence .
No , they are not going to palsy at this winning % all year , but what indications are there that they will collapse ?

They’re a young team who’s top 3 forwards are all ppg or better, and the top 4 D is a great mix of pushing offence while playing tight defence. Everything looks good so far. I still don’t believe they are a true top team in the league yet, but they should be playing meaningful games down the stretch of the season at least.

This is also an important year for them. They have a lot of flexibility this coming off season with some contracts ending and cost controlled defensive prospects coming up. Could potentially attract some talent with a strong showing this season.

I don’t think they’re top of the standings good but they’re very likely a playoff team with Pittsburgh and Washington falling off.

The question is who out of NYI, Detroit, Buffalo steals that last open spot.

Devils are playing some great hockey lately.

They are not as good as their 11-3 record of course, no one thinks they will finish the season with 130 points.

That said, they are a very talented young team that appears to have finally put it all together.

Making the playoffs will be a success regardless which round they are eliminated in.

Man this is one of the laziest complaints I've seen. I can buy something like Devils are getting lucky or its early or weak schedule or pretty much anything and say "yeah thats a fair opinion, youre entitled to it"

But George comes in here, stomping the ground like "they are the same team with same coaches" when we literally have 4 new coaches, new starting goalie, new top 4 dman and bunch of new forwards.

Get out.
