Cole Caufield not making team US surprised me. He's the country's best goal-scorer so far this season.

Also - no Evan Bouchard on team Canada is a bit shocking to me. International tournament is high stakes, a bit like playoffs.

Last 2 playoff runs, Canadian defensemen:

Bouchard - 49 points
Montour 24
Makar 20
Next best - 15

He has more than 2x as many points as the next guy.

Before season started I fully expected Connor Bedard to make the team - but he's having a bad year, so that one isn't too surprising.

Real happy that Tage was left off the roster, seems like a terrible person.

I’d say that us swedes would’ve rather seen the likes of Backlund and Zetterlund instead of Arvidsson and Nyqvist
Did Tage hurt you?

Never forget Dylan Larkin made it over Tage.

I was pretty chocked Jokiharju didn't make Finland. I thought he was their third best D after Heiskanen and Lindell

Thompson, Coufield, Keller, and Robertson seem odd to me for Team USA. Thompson being the biggest snub. When you have to go up against the Canadian firepower, why wouldn't you take any one of them over the struggling JT Miller?

had 16P in 17GP this season and 103P last season

Robertson by far has been struggling the most of the 5 mentioned

Hyman seems an odd choice to consider a notable omission when he has 3 goals and 8 points in 20 games while averaging over 19 minutes of ice time and more average PP time per game than any Oiler player, including McDavid and Draisatl.

I mean…I guess you could argue some sort of “chemistry with McDavid / scores the greasy goals” kind of thing - except he’s not showing any of that this season, and the Canadian roster is not lacking in hard-working wingers with a nose for the net.

He is this year’s Chris Kunitz. Only makes it because of his linemate.

Tavares should've made Canada IMO. He's been a good performer for them in many tournaments over the years, and he's a versatile, intelligent player who can be used in many different ways.

Offensively, he’s a dynamo but too many miscues to start the season and they probably want some consistency going into such a short tournament.

As long as he shores it up before the playoffs again though…he’s clearly outplayed guys like Hughes/Heiskanen head to head in games that mattered most last post-season.

Hampus Lindholm would have certainly made it if he wasn’t out injured so don’t think he belong in the poll.

I don’t know if that’s true. The 4 new selections are all playing better this year and all but maybe Andersson played better last year.

Tage or Eklund IMO. Eklund considering they picked a 35 year old forward who’s not gritty, useless defensively and on pace for 30 f***ing points ahead of him.

Robertson is struggling more than Miller was, and Miller brings more to the table than Caufield and Keller.

Miller is struggling? Being over a ppg is now considered struggling?

He was noticeably injured and then was pretty bad after Boeser went down. Still, he’s clearly a better player than Caufield and Keller when healthy and the team looks to have prioritized size, grit and overall play while still having more than enough offense. I’m surprised anyone would be surprised Caufield and Keller didn’t make it. There was only going to be a couple spots for their offensive wings and Connor is having the better year. Nelson and Trocheck both being on the team is the only surprise imo.

I wanna say edvinsson for Sweden even though it’s only been about 1/3rd of the season, but I get it. He’s really young. But his play this season has been a lot better than some of the guys they took, and if he keeps it up will be a bonafide undeniable 1D next season.
