I'd say Scheifele or Tage.

Both probably left off for more or less the same reasons though. Big, good offensive players, but defensively...kinda iffy. Not really necessary on these sort of rosters...since they're not going to be playing top offensive minutes, or on the top powerplay unit.

Lindholm was the Bruins best player before he went down. Beg to differ.

That’s great, but he’s still not clearly better than any of the dmen selected. Dahlin was obviously making the team and Andersson is playing like a legit #1 this season. Ekholm has been awesome since being in Edmonton and Brodin is one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. Someone had to be left out.

I wanna say edvinsson for Sweden even though it’s only been about 1/3rd of the season, but I get it. He’s really young. But his play this season has been a lot better than some of the guys they took, and if he keeps it up will be a bonafide undeniable 1D next season.
Who are you taking off? Ekholm? Brodin? Andersson? Forsling?

FWIW I was really hoping he’d get the nod has all the makings of an elite defenseman.

No Tage, as he would be playing down in the lineup, instead went with a player that is more defensive minded, and better penalty killer.
He'd be on my PP1 playing the left circle, and on Eichel's at 5v5 wing

Hughes - Matthews - M Tkachuk
Thompson - Eichel - Boldy
B Tkachuk - Larkin - Tuch
Miller - Nelson - Terry
Connor

Well sure, a minor few might see it that way. Most are looking at building a team, vs a PP team, they never win.
Pick a team, who fits which role the best.
Tage doesn’t fit the role he be brought in for. He wouldn’t be on second line, ( well except yours).

I am looking to build a team. Thompson is a great player, and being able to fill a key role on the PP is a bonus.

Why not? He's 2nd behind only Matthews in goals among Americans in the last 3 years, and he's done that while playing for the Buffalo Sabres. 6'6 with hands, reach, and a ridiculous shot. He's a great skater and puck carrier as well, and he can play center or wing.

I wonder if Tage declining to attend the past few Worlds came back to bite him. Can’t see the vision in leaving him off for hockey reasons.

Incidentally he’s not a defensive savant but he’s pretty active with that long stick. They had him PKing for a while and he was acceptable enough defensively to keep him out there for the short handed threat

Curious if some players were invited but declined prior to the announcement and a couple of these guys are replacements.

Oh didn’t realize that, ya that definitely hinders a border line player.

Is this supposed to be rage bait? If he was teafted by any other team no one would even know who he is. His states are a product of McDavid and he's attrocious defensively.
This is such a lazy answer and given by many that don't watch him play as his passing skills and hockey IQ on offense is slite.

Defensively he isn't the greatest sure but he can really move the puck with elite players which is what this tournament will have for Canada.

Who should you replace on team Canada defense with bouchard?
Toews, probably. They are all good picks but Bouchard provides more drama, I guess. If you're worried about defense it's not like you can't shelter him a little then use him more if you're playing catch-up.
