Who is the softest team in the playoffs? Which team brings to most grit?

I expected TBay and Boston fans to rip us to shreds, I respect that. But Habs fans?
Your team hasn’t won a series in two decades, you should be expecting everyone to rip you to shreds

Based on the games the Leafs played vs them they were extremely soft on the puck especially their core forwards outside of Dubois. I think that is more important than hitting or whatever which they didn't really do much of either

I think they are somewhere in the upper middle of grit. Hyman, Kane, and a bunch of depth guys play the grindy role well and then you have Nurse and Desharnais who are pretty tough customers.

But I don't think that is their team identity whereas with Dallas for example they want to run you out of the building. I think the Oilers first gameplan is to generate odd man rushes and if physicality happens then it happens

Agree with this, but maybe upper middle as skilled guys like Kane, and Draisaitl who play with an edge.

Also have Ekholm, Nurse, and Desharnais on the back end who are not fun to play against.

It makes them interesting and never thought of that way.

But going against LA, you can see their game plan of grinding on LA. But a team that opens it up, they can switch and just play a rush game.

Years past I might have said Islanders are the gritiest but not sure if they are now. I think it is either the Stars or the Bruins.

For softest, I think it might be the LA kings or Jets.

Curious how others see the playoff teams on the pugnacity scale
Dallas is super soft? One knows the state of NHL's grittiness is bad when a team with a 4th line consisting of Faksa, Kiviranta and Glendening is called one of the most gritty teams. Jeez. Looks like your run of the mill "xxx European league" scoring line...

Bruins are the toughest thought.

Well...one retired professional hockey player has weighed in.....

Kucherov and Hedman and all those Tampa frauds didn't have what it took until Pat Maroon showed up and suddenly they did.

They couldn't win ANYTHING until suddenly Pat Maroon apparently arrived.

They couldn't win before him and now suddenly everyone thinks they're the greatest shit ever.

"No jam, play on the outside"

You know why Philadelphia hasn't won jack shit since 1975? Because they have too much jam and don't believe in playing on the outside. They think hockey games are only played in the slot or at the boards.

You misread my post, but are not the first to do so so maybe my wording is bad. I was addressing the toughest teams first.

Poster said Dallas was not soft, but one of the grittiest

I understood your post but I think you missed the point with mine? Dallas IS one of the softest teams in the whole league, and the fact that you find them one of the grittiest in the playoffs says something about how weak this league is physically compared to the good old days...

Morgan Barron almost lost an eye and didn't even miss an entire period in game 1, that's playoff grit if I've ever seen it.

That is a different discussion. Every team is soft compared to the 70's and 80's but also you can't play that way anymore because the league won't allow it between reffing and suspensions.

Leafs, theres just something about Matthews that turns everyone around him into a softie. A p****fication field of some kind

Lol Benn is tough as nails, up there with Wilson for toughest F in the league, and Domi all shortcomings aside has played like a pestilent pain in the ass since the day he stepped into the league. Marchment is a throwback big tough winger and their defense has Hakanpaa, Lindell and Miller, and Ryan Suter pretty much sneakily inherited the crosschecking crown from Pronger. And Faksa plays a very exhausting body on body style even if he doesn't fight or level players with open ice hits. Their "soft" players like Robertson, Hintz, Heiskanen or Pavelski still mix it up with the best of them and don't shy from contact They're easily one of the toughest if not the toughest team around.

To be fair... In the 5 years prior to Pat Maroon's arrival, the Lightning won 36 playoff games and 7 series, went to the Stanley Cup Final, the Eastern Conference Final 3 times, and had the second highest playoff winning percentage in the league after Vegas (who had 2 runs). They just never won the Cup - which is very hard to win. Pat Maroon was great for team morale and mindset, but this team had already experienced a ton of success.

That's a far cry from what the Leafs are looking at. In the last 5 years, they have 14 playoff wins, 0 series wins, and are 19th with a 0.424 winning percentage.
