so on and so forth
Excellent choices. Here's what is sad.... I wear my Andy Bathgate Rangers jersey to MSG all the time and not 1 person has ever said.... Omg Andy Bathgate jersey.... Legend!
I went to 1 Toronto vs Chicago HNIC game at the United Center and dozens of TO supporters came up to me to talk about Andy Bathgate and how amazing he was.

I'll support your Bathgate and raise you a Ratelle. He is deserving stats wise as it stands, but imagine if he was a career Ranger. He'd own the club record books and still not have his name on the Cup unfortunately.

Leetch. With Lundqvist a hair behind. Had Lundqvist won a Cup, I'd give him the nod. Its close. They're the two best Rangers.

Greatest most impactful ranger player ever is messier... He just sucks now so its tainting his image, imo

Edit: No other team can claim Leetch like Edmonton can for Messier and Leetch never left for any reason other then being left behind. If the reason he is the greatest NYR is because of all around loyalty and longevity then it is leetch.

Why sucks? Because he took a broadcasting job?

No.... stuff he's done after his playing days and before broadcasting. You would know if you were a ranger fan.

Rangers would have won a cup or two by now if they just hired Messier as head coach when he first wanted the job. Too much of a country club atmosphere under AV and Gallant and then in between they brought in a college coach. They needed a big personality, and great leader, who knows how to win to steer the team in the right direction.

Lester? Boucher? Hextall? Cook?
Grew up with tales of my dad's life as Ranger fan (who enjoyed >1 Cup)
OP choices imply the world was created during Reagan administration

I don't really get what greatest really means anyway,
except as starter for animated discussion over drinks

too many guys, too many seasons
look at last 3 seasons for Fox and Zib, it's hard to call others "greater"

My comment was written in 2021... He doesn't suck at all he is a legend but isn't entitled to a head coaching job with no experience in the field. He was a great leader as a player but should work his way up the coaching ladder to prove he can do it imho. A person shouldn't just be able to jump into a NHL coaching position let alone with the Rangers.

Seems everyone in Montreal is very happy with MSL who had no significant coaching experience.

Patrick Ewing was just fired by Georgetown. Being a playing legend only goes so far. Magic Johnson was not good as a coach in his short time. He said he couldn't relate to the guys that weren't willing to give the kind of effort that he gave.
