No, it’s 10 teams head scouts or guys in charge of their draft boards, he’s answered that before
He’s said it multiple times on his podcast, and throughout the years. It’s talked about quite a bit in the latest McKenzie ranking thread on the prospects forum I believe.Where does it state that it's the head scouts and guys in charge? All I see here is "10 NHL scouts." Are you guys adding superlatives to what Bob says now?
"Ten out of 10 NHL scouts surveyed by TSN ranked Lafreniere first overall, as was the case when he was No. 1 on TSN’s preseason list in September and No. 1 on TSN’s mid-season list in January."
Bob McKenzie's Final Ranking: Lafreniere the surest thing in most uncertain draft year - TSN.ca
Throughout the entire article, he just refers to them as NHL scouts. No "chief of scouting" or "head scout." Sounds like you guys are assuming things and stretching your imaginations.
Can you point me to where he has said that? Because I have followed Bob Mackenzie and his content for years and I have never heard anything other than it is from 10 NHL scouts. He’s said it multiple times on his podcast
Mentioned it on at least one Bobcast episodeCan you point me to where he has said that? Because I have followed Bob Mackenzie and his content for years and I have never heard anything other than it is from 10 NHL scouts.
Lol. That's incredibly vague.Mentioned it on at least one Bobcast episode
Not sure what to tell you, I don’t have the episodes of Bobcast memorized. It’s been talked about elsewhere, I’ve seen it many times, and it was discussed at length in one of his Ranking threads. He’s talking with people (Head scouts, those in charge of draft boards) about their teams draft boards, not a single scout.Lol. That's incredibly vague.
To add to what Ziggy saidSounds like you guys are assuming things and stretching your imaginations.
He doesn't get 10 teams prospect Rankings, he gets 10 scouts. That's very different, it means it is just one scouts opinion not a consensus ranking for the organization.
From my understanding it was 10 scouts representing 10 different teams. Not a big difference to the point I'm trying to make - It further points to how well connected he is as there seems to be a mandate to bash his opinion/reputation on here because people didn't like what he said.
I'm not bashing Bob. I'm correcting a big exaggeration that you made. From my understanding it was 10 scouts representing 10 different teams. And five of those scouts have Byfield at two. Did Bob McKenzie state that according to scouts, the Kings are selecting Stutzle?

Nothing is set in stone, the draft is months away.
Mark Edward's and Bob Mackenzie have both said they think LA is leaning towards Stutzle. Take that as you will.
It's opinions, I take it as that. Like you said, nothing set in stone. And what has Mark Edwards said? Has anyone stated as a matter of fact that this is based on inside information and insider knowledge? Because I'm not seeing that.
An organization has say 18 Scouts (avg # of scouts). Those scouts all have different opinions. The NHL team then takes all of their individual input and takes into account organizational needs and strategy, and creates their draft board. Therefore, each individual scouts opinions is actually only a small part of the organizations final draft rankings. So yes, in my opinion, the way that you characterized it was a big exaggeration. You are not, but many are.
And I dont think I made a big exaggeration, you dont know what the lists are either - as youre suggesting the scouts list is vastly different than the teams list which is an exaggeration as well.
I've stated changes can be made to them, nobody thinks his list is exactly how its gonna go down - just that it gives him some inside information that I think is valuable. So when he gives his opinion it hold weight and worth a discussion.

Mark Edward's said the scouts that he has connections with believe LA is leaning towards Stutzle. Mentioned it on HF.
But exactly, I get that there is cheeky inside info as well (like Bokk saying "LA bound"). I dont put much emphasis on that stuff - but Bob and Mark are guys that I'll listen too.
Nobody really knows. Hell teams can even leak false info - like last year Ottawa posted pictures of them interview Kotka because they didn't want MTL to trade down so they can take Tkachuk.
All info comes with a grain of salt. I just personally dont like people bashing a reporter because they dont like what he suggests
I actually love what Bob does, he's the best in the business, but he's just sharing his thoughts. He never stated, "according to scouts or people I've spoken to," which he would have flat out said if that was the case.
