BS, Bob McKenzie speculates just like everyone else. Anything to fill air time and look connected.

Ask yourself this. Why are people from Ottawa suddenly in here pumping Stutzle's tires? They want Byfield and are concerned the Kings are going to take him.
He doesn’t speculate much but if he does he says it’s pure speculation. He doesn’t need to “look connected”. He’s massively respected and connected. He has no bias. He also knows how at least 10 teams are ranking their players. If you don’t know about his integrity and sources then you can’t comment.

Most Sens fans don’t care. The Sens have no choice who to take between the two. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think Stutzle is the favourite right now. All the smoke is leading towards that. That doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed, but you should be prepared for it. It’s hilarious how the #2 ranked prospect going #2 would be a shock to you guys.

Then GTFO, because there isn't a single Kings fan who cares what someone in Ottawa says on the subject.

BTW, did Yanetti or Blake tell McKenzie the Kings are taking Stutzle? No, so he has no valid sources, just speculation from himself and others.

You don't seem to care what the most respected hockey insider in the business (who isn't from Ottawa) says either. Take care.
Not on this subject, and I especially don't care about what an Ottawa fan has to say on it.

Maybe a bunch of us should go on Ottawa's board and post about the speculation Ottawa will select Drysdale.

Go on the Sens board take a look. It's about 60/40 on Stutzle and has been ever since the draft order was established. Ever since the news came out that LA might take Stutzle then Sens fans have shifted to looking more at Byfield but it's certainly not the crazy conspiracy theory you're trying to create. Everyone in Ottawa will be happy to have one of them, we're not as stuck on Byfield as you guys are which is very odd. Probably because he's bigger but that doesn't make hik better.

I honestly hope the Kings take Byfield I'd rather have Stutzle myself.

Here, I'll be civil to you since I got up on the right side of the bed this morning. Forget the fact that Kings fans here in general prefer Byfield and Sens fans on your board appear to prefer Stutzle. It's the fact that reporters outside of LA, thousands of miles away, claim to know more about what LA is up to or prefers than actual LA reporters and insiders. As soon as the Kings won the right to select second, all local reporters/insiders tabbed Byfield as the pick. It would be one thing if they were split (and that's NOT to say opinions can't change), but that wasn't the case. Our locals are pretty accurate here on Kings day to day activities. So when we're being told by fans of other fanbases on these messages boards that they know who the Kings are going to select the night of the Phase 1 draft lottery results and we don't have a clue about our local team, it's insulting. Look, I can tell you which way the wind blows in Ontario California because I live here. But I'm not going to pretend to know which way it blows in Ontario Canada because I read an internet report that says it's West.

Well, you ask a question you got an answer. Maybe if you don't care don't engage with other people on a discussion board, seems counterintuitive.
You can't seem to tell the difference between an actual question, and one which is rhetorical.

...and if you pay a visit to their board you will see most favor Byfield, but are resigned to getting Stutzle.

The opinion/reporting of Bob McKenzie means way more than the opinion of LA reports or insiders. You guys are just being naive.

I don't doubt it. I was taking the poster's word for it in this scenario to explain that factor didn't matter and terms of why I'm personally annoyed. It's folks who live a 5 hour plane ride away shoving down our throats that they know more about our own local team than we do. That some Canadian reporter heard this and that makes it gospel. Hell, Bob McKenzie routinely strikes out on draft day. I respect his leaguewide knowledge and sources, but they're not infallible.

That's fair, the AJ comment is a local Ottawa guy but in his defense he never said he heard anything from LA - just his connections in Germany lead him to believe LA is leaning towards Stutzle. And emphasize the word leaning, none of this info is some guarantee or anything.

However Bob Mackenzie and Mark Edward's are far more connected. I'd take their word over Garrioch (Sens insider) any day of the week. Being miles away doesnt change anything on that front for me. Sens fans are not making things up, just listening to insiders. It seems when they lean towards Stutzle fans here just claim its bullshit, and if they lean towards Byfield its then deemed accurate - which is where it gets silly. Bob is the best in the business, you can't ignore comments like that - he literally has rankings of 10 teams in his hands - if he said Byfield instead there would be a completely different narrative here which is the problem.

Either way we have no idea, and still have months before the draft. Just have to wait and see who is picked, both elite players and would be ecstatic to have either one.

I don't know why you guys are gaslighting @FormentonTheFuture for. He didn't say anything invalid or wrong. He just came here to speak that Bob Mckenzie is a reliable source, which he is. We cannot deny that there is a lot of smoke from several of different sources right now. And drafting Stutzle at #2 is a good pick (I am saying this as someone who prefers Byfield). So chill out.

Mckenzie was clear that it was anecdotal and that it was his opinion. But Mckenzie is pretty good at understanding what organizations are look for. If Bob says something, I will listen. Him saying that it was strictly his opinion has also fallen with everything else we heard. Blake and Yannetti most likely have yet to make a decision on who they will take, considering their process for looking at #2 started last week. Individual personnel, like Marco Strum may have made their mind up already, but that doesn't mean the team has made their mind up. Man October needs to hurry up because some of you guys clearly are unsettled about this lol

Not sure why everyone is touchy in here. Reasonably, either player could end up being quite a bit better than the other 5 years from now. Anyone's guess who that is. As an Ottawa fan, glad we don't have to make that decision.

Usually it's fairly reasonable in here. I don't know what's up today. It's honestly a crapshoot on who will turn out the better player. No one on this site is an expert scout, otherwise they wouldn't be on here.

That's fine and I'm not trying to be an asshat here even though it might seem like it. I thought we had a poll on our board between Stutzle and Byfield but we don't, we do have a thread about 2 vs 3 and you can see there that many posters prefer Stutzle, that's just the way it's been for a while until there were reports of Stutzle going to LA and fans started talking more about Byfield which makes a ton of sense. Bottom line as already mentionned we're all vocal to the fact that we really don't care much between Stutzle or Byfield, and as I pointed out many prefer the latter.

Now for the local reporters vs Bob Mackenzie..

You know, here in Canada Bob Mackenzie is the voice of truth. He's the most reputable insider by a long shot and when he says something it might not always be true but it is true more often than not. It might be completely different for US based teams but there's no denying his reputation in NHL circles and he has connections across the board. It's fine to say that you belive more in local reporters, that's completely understandable, but don't be surprised to see fans from other fan bases citing the most trustable NHL insider NHL wide. Truth is nobody actually knows who gets drafted where, but there are connections between teams and agents/players and I will assume that an agent or scout told Mackenzie that LA likes Stutzle. Does that mean they will draft him? Not at all. But at the same time you should know this will spark a discussion at least. This is not Frank Seravalli talking, It's Bob Mackenzie and people across the league respect his opinion for obvious reasons.

Also I don't think people are saying that they know absolutely who LA will take, but when posters take a shot at Mackenzie's credibility whether that be in Canada or in the US you know it's simply because they don't like what they're hearing because he is reliable. At the end of the day, the only reason I came here in the first place was to have more information from Kings fans as to why they are so fed up about the possibility of LA taking Stutzle. In Ottawa, the reaction is completely different on him so it's curious to see the difference between both fanbases on that player.

Do you follow the nfl? Nba? National reporters Shefter and Woj are the bob McKenzies of their sport. If they say something it is basically gospel. This isn’t some random Canadian reporter.

again I don’t care what happens, what we say does nothing to sway how the kings will pick. You’re just ignoring clear signs.

Are you telling us that 10 different teams in the NHL gave to a reporter, in this case Bob McKenzie, their definitive top 10 draft order?
I find that incredibly hard to believe.

Yes, that's how he creates his list every year. He averages the rankings of 10 teams.

The teams can obviously make changes though, especially in a time like this where there is months before the draft!

Yes, and it been that way for 2 decades, and his list has been the most accurate, every single year, for 2 decades. He has never once ranked players himself, he just gets a consensus ranking from 10 teams at the beginning, midway and end of the year. This year Stutzle was ranked 2nd by 5 teams, and 3rd by 5. Byfield was ranked 2nd by 5 teams, 3rd by 3 teams, and 6th by 2 teams.

Which 10 teams, no idea, likely changes every year, but it was 10 teams head scouts, like it has always been.

He doesn't get 10 teams prospect Rankings, he gets 10 scouts. That's very different, it means it is just one scouts opinion not a consensus ranking for the organization.
