Someone mentioned Adam Oates, I'd be on bored with that as someone who was a skills coach he'd be good to bring along young players imo.

Why not bring back Tom Ranney? He is good with young talent and good with teams that are not expected do much. Maybe Rangers players need to be a team where they are talked as being an underdog. Maybe the pressure gets to these soft mentality that the Rangers roster has

This board has some odd obsession with recycling former players & management. The goal should be to clear out Sather & his deep rooted cronies, not bring back vanquished ones.

The more important question can we please get a Rangers coach that does not sniff like he had a drug coke habit in the past? The way he coached this team in the playoffs I bet he was on drugs during his time here. Gut feeling

Friedman saying Jeff Blashill is the front runner ha

Don't be so sure that nyr saying quenville is out is bc they made that choice. It's very possible they spoke to the league and the league said no, and for everyone's sake the easiest way to handle it was for the team to deny interest.

that's @FriedgeHINC not @FriedgeHNIC

It's going to be Joel Quenneville with black thick frame glasses and no mustache going by Joèl Quennёville.
The opposite of this...

That is a parody account of Friedmans twitter so, unless anyone can provide anything else, I don’t think the Blashill rumors are true

Kind of scary Weekes put Roy in a tease before, but his team in Quebec has been dominant this year, they are 12-0 in the playoffs, he’s clearly doing something right.

thing is, does Roy actually want to coach an NHL franchise right now? Or is he more concerned with that minor league team? I have to imagine Drury is giving him some calls

Pat Roy in his final stretch of awkwardness with the Avs, a dance between him and management in deciding his future came down to Roy wanting to be the VP of personnel or whatever the title was that gave him a direct say in management's decision on the players to bring into the fold or let walk. Management wasn't having it so the two sides went their separate ways.

I can't imagine Drury is going to welcome that kind of power struggle. He already had a shouting match with Gallant on personnel and usage. Gallant had a few subtle things to say about the team going for talent and not hard work. His coaching abilities aside, Roy is a difficult hire for any GM unless there's unparalleled chemistry and partnership.

I don't see it. Kevin Weekes is just doing his fellow goalie a solid by stoking the fire there to raise his profile with Roy evidently seeking an NHL job.

And hey, maybe Drury will hire the guy that talks about the right things in the interview and make it a merit and philosophy hire. Then tack on some experience/communication type assistants.

Vince believes Mike Sullivan is the Rangers top choice.

Sullivan is signed long-term in Pittsburgh.

The Rangers can find their own Sullivan. He was the Bruins coach in the early 2000's and he didn't get another opportunity until 10 years later.

Bruce Cassidy was similar. He coached the Caps in the early 2000's. The team wasn’t very good. He got his second opportunity 12 years later.

Both of them were assistant coaches for NHL teams. They both coached in the AHL in between NHL head coaching jobs.

Maybe the Rangers should find their Sullivan or Cassidy.

Dave Hakstol left North Dakota to coach the Flyers. Knoblauch was on his Flyers staff. The Flyers fired Hakstol who was an assistant coach for the Leafs prior to joining Seattle. I was looking at Seattle's coaching staff. Jay Leach is an assistant there. Former NHL player. He coached in the AHL. Dave Lowry was a long-time assistant in Winnipeg. He joined the staff this season. Paul McFarland is another assistant coach. He was also in Toronto with Hakstol. That staff was so superior to the Rangers staff.

The Leafs have Carbary as an assistant coach. He was hired from the Caps AHL team.

There are coaches out there to put together good coaching staffs. Some of the retreads have their established assistant coach.
