Canada and California (that makes ten). Aside from the weather there isn't a lot of difference.

1. Toronto
2. Boston
3. Philly
Those three are my most hated teams to be honest and I wouldn’t be able to give my all for any of them as such.
4. Montreal (but only if I have multiple years on my deal) Would waive if it’s a rental situation just to play for the storied franchise. Can’t speak French.
5. Winnipeg - so very very cold, would waive as a rental
6. Arizona - it’s just a convoluted mess
7. Ottawa - I’d want to see their new ownership in action before playing for them
8. Seattle - the state is a mess
9. Vegas - would waive for rental but they treat players like disposable tools
10. Columbus - purely due to Babcock; otherwise would be fine

Winnipeg
Edmonton
Calgary
Arizona
Columbus
Minnesota

I’m good with anything other than those places.

If it snows and there aren't mountains, I don't want to go there.

I'll try to deal with it if there are mountains or large bodies of water.

Columbus doesn't count because I already live here and I like it. But the list would be Dallas, St Louis, Detroit, Winnipeg, Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton.. and for 10, I have no interest in living in Florida. So the Panthers. Tampa is on the gulf side, massive win.

I have no issues with the majority of those teams. If I leave Columbus, I'm just not willing to take a weather downgrade without other positives.

I also just don't want to live in Dallas. No offense, guys.

1 to 7, all of Canada, huge Oilers fan but wouldn't want to live there as a millionaire, would potentially wave for Vancouver.
8. Arizona, no need to explain
9, St Louis, the armpit of the USA
10. Buffalo, to close to Canada.

I mean, if you're going to offer me at least 10x the average US salary I'm not going to complain where I have to live. Does Winnipeg have a Peruvian Chicken restaurant? I'll make do.
You can definitely get a Slurpee in Winnipeg. Idk about anything Peruvian.

I'm legit curious how many posters are putting cities they've never been on their list or just have these preconceived notions. Seems like 95% of these posts are just ignoring the lifestyle of cities. This thread seems like a ton of people having preconceived notions of places without ever stepping foot there.

Majority of violent crime happens in major cities. Where there are wide arrays of races, ethnicities, and wealth gaps.

Canada has maybe 5 cities in terms of population that are bigger than the 30th US city (pulled from my ass but an educated guess).

Obviously there are other reasons for the disparity in crime but having a population that is neither that large nor concentrated, helps when it comes to limiting crime.

Complains about Washington being too political
Cites disliking the municipal and state government as a reason for not liking a city
Have you been to DC?

Every nitwit with an axe to grind comes to DC to riot/protest. Doesn't really matter political leanings or reasonings, DC is the default protest zone for near every objection, every location in the US.

Arizona
Montreal
Colorado
San Jose
Long Island
Edmonton
Boston
Carolina
Dallas
Winnipeg

There are a couple others I’d prefer not to suit up for but they’re not show stoppers.

NY Rangers
NY Islanders
Philadelphia Flyers
NJ Devils
Arizona Coyotes
Anaheim Ducks
St Louis Blues
Minnesota Wild

Plenty of reasons to not play in Vancouver and, of course, to each their own. But I think I’ve seen a couple people note “cold” as a reason not to play there. That’s… odd. I sometimes feel like people see the Celsius readings and get confused.

IMHO, Vancouver would be a highly desirable city for a player but for the owner and organization, which makes the situation there so tragic.

Can't understand why Seattle comes out so much... as a montrealer I lived there for a year working in the tech industry and it's a wonderful city.. probably the cleanest, nicest, coolest I've seen in the US so far. Also crazy about sports there.

Yeah, Seattle is a prime destination for an athlete not a bottom one. Some of the choices folks are making are just completely bonkers crazy.
