Where are McDavid and Draisaitl when it matters?

The 2021 "North Division" is unquestionably the worst division ever constructed in NHL history, every single team in this division is mediocre at best. It's easy to see why some above average players were able to rack up tons of points playing exclusively against other "NHL" teams in this division but then completely disappear when the games actually matter. Stats from North Division regular season games in 2021 should be wiped from the record books as they're about as valuable as the stats of a 25 year old playing a season in the OHL - a complete embarrassment for the sport which is only made more humiliating by this minor league division being the only one to still be playing games in front of zero fans. It's time to have a serious discussion about Canada no longer being allowed to have NHL franchises, they are only making our league look bad.
Canada was and is the NHL. Without us the league would not exist

I get that Crosby has had playoff success.

That said, the double standard with him and McDavid is absolutely hilarious. When Crosby goes games without registering a point everyone points to his defensive play and dominance on the ice. McDavid's been more dominant on both sides of the ice, generating tons of chances and playing well defensively.
And how many cups has that translated to?

Character Crosby is a horse he works every square inch of the ice, Mcdavid needs to take his lunchbox and go to work.

To be fair, Nurse has been pretty good so far this series.
Draisaitl has been good too. People don’t understand that even the best players can have games where they don’t get points but they still play as well of many of the games where they would get a point or 2 two. Luck is still a big part of the game.

The regular season was always a mirage. They were a .500 team and beat up on Ottawa.

Their team is awful though, zero depth after those 2.

McDavid is awful in his own zone. Have you watched an Oilers game?

Yep idk why people always mention the Penguins had insane depth that is a lie.

Nothing wrong with that though. We won with depth later on.

Malkin and Crosby put the teams on the back both playoff runs.

You don't need insane depth to have more depth than the Oilers. You just need some depth.

Enjoy staying the course, Calgary.
Calgary is a bad team our fans aren't delusional like Edmonton's.

Sorry your team is not good and you had the same record as the Flames against anyone except Ottawa.

Calgary would have given Winnipeg more trouble because our 4th line would be your 2nd line.

It's funny you speak about Ottawa given how piss poor you were against them.

And Winnipeg.

And Us.

You can't pin it on these 2 though. This isn't the NBA, you need depth throughout the lineup to win.

For example after the Oilers top line, their 2nd-4th lines would probably mostly be on other playoff teams practice squads.

This is bullcrap!!!

This was going to be the year were we would finally get an epic 2nd round matchup between McDavid and Matthews for hockey supremicy!

Now we're going to get Scheifele vs Drouin?! Nobody wants that shit... :(

You know my team watched their captain almost lose his head, how about we show a little respect and not just assume the series is over. We have been a consistent team all season from top to bottom.

So how do you explain WPG's slump down the stretch? Were they just playing possum? Was THAT a mirage?

Maybe should’ve rested last few meaningless regular season games like most players did instead of padding stats

McDavid wanted to play the last few games because they didn't want to be rusty (i.e. would have been a week off between a late reg. season game and game 1 )

Man, this place is so giddy to tear down top players the first chance they get.

The Jets have played tremendous defense, and Hellebuyck has been a wall. It's not like McDavid and Draisaitl have been invisible.

The oilers remind me of the west coast express era Canucks. Two elite players that really feed off one another, a couple great offensive defensemen and not much else.

So McDavid should just rest a few games every season at the end of the regular season?! You do know that McDavid had 5 points in his last 3 games and 9 points in his last 4 games, right?! If McDavid did that during his whole career he would miss out way more than 100 career points, possibly even close to 200 career points. How the hell is he going to pass 2000 career points with dumbass advice like this!

It'll be a really bad look on McDavid if he doesn't get going.

1. You see Mack (who media/fans hype as 2nd best in league, maybe) exploding so far in playoffs this year and last, while McDavid is scoreless in 2

2. Jets sucked to end the year. No offense Winnipeg fans - but that team was a mess. They even made my Habs look good in comparison. They should have been easy picking for Oilers/McDavid

3. McDavid was going absolute max/full throttle to end the season, trying to amass very high point totals. Which is great, and fun, and entertaining....but if flipside ends up being he can't get going in playoffs, people will always point the finger and say 'regular season hero - you should have saved some energy for playoffs instead of padding stats'. It's a bad look.

The story out of Edmonton for years has been "team sucks - McDavid can't win on his own". That doesn't really hold true anymore. Edmonton did great in regular season last year, and lost in 4 to 23rd place Chicago in round 1. This year - great season again, very easily top 2 in North, facing a lesser opponent. Maybe if Edmonton gets to round 3 to face off against a team like Tampa or Colorado and they don't measure up you can start saying "McDrai can't win on their own, team game" - but for these early rounds, Edmonton has the better team and should be winning.

It's only 2 games. McDavid can still turn this around and win a smythe/cup this year. But so far - this is simply not a good look, being scoreless in 2, for all the obvious reasons.
