Perfect example of why MLSE are more about PR progressive agendas than icing a good hockey team. I could care less what a player’s views are on any given topic, and having to be participate in something that goes against your beliefs is in itself a from of harassment imo. This woke crap is killing society let alone hockey. Everybody should be allowed the freedom of their own belief, whatever they are……….
us paranoid Leaf fans worry about what we will be losing to Dubas, when we should be looking forward to what we can grab from Calgary.Hopefully size and speed on the blueline. I'd actually like Zadorov if we're shopping at Flamesmart. He's improved his overall defensive game and is still an imposing physical presence.
I thought we were disagreeing on this point...my mistake.
I can somewhat agree that neither Liljegren nor Timmins may be long for the team. At the same time, moving out either or both at this point won't do all that much from a cap perspective.
While Treliving probably "can" do just that, I'm not sure my wish is for that to be the first avenue explored.I think he can use Lilly to get a Bigger piece if he wants to, at least as part of a package
That’s going to be hard to balance With the way the contracts for the expensive core are structured. He has a very short window to clear out at least one of their cap hits or they are in total controlFirst major move will probably be re-balancing cap-space into defence and goaltending.
Whether that happens in the off-season or over the next year remains to be seen.
I don't think he's in that big of a rush to try to wave a magic wand at all this team's problems.
I'd love it but it's not going to happen imo.make a statement about how this team is going to operate moving forward.
Trade Matthews.

One thing that Treliving said was thats its a copycat league so whatever team wins it other teams take note. I was just looking at Capfriendly Vegas/Panthers vs Leafs allocation of cap.....Vegas/Panthers set up is sooooo different to the leafs.. way way way more spread out so maybe fingers crossed Treliving does the same which would mean there will be changes? As usual, nothing actually impactful to the rotten core, so first a Schenn re-signing announcement and then, early on July 1, announcement of the dreaded albatross for a shitty 32 yr old 3rd liner to his customary 5x5 UFA deal that he didn’t learn from despite making the mistake at least 4 different times.
That’s saying nothing of the brutal overpays of Kadri, and Weegar/Huberdeau before they even even dressed as Flames which will likely be precedence for brutal overpays on Nylander and/orMatthews, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Holl or Kerfoot overpaid as well since we know Keefe is apparently a great success in Shanny’s eyes
God do I hope you’re right. I’m not ready to fully give up the fandom and they’re impossible to ignore if you live in the city. But at the same time, do I ever hate the core with possible exception of Rielly because I saw more from him this go roundOne thing that Treliving said was thats its a copycat league so whatever team wins it other teams take note. He also talked about not just being about the core 4 but the team as a whole but he only said Matthews was an elite player in the league but he didnt say the same about Marner or Nylander which makes me think he will pay Matthews whatever he wants and get rid of 16 and or 88 so...changes maybe? I just cant see them moving the deck chairs around as the only solution.
Look at their top 4 forwards....leafs top 4 forwards make 10 mill more than the panthers top 4 forwards and Panthers only have one forward making 10. Vegas is similar to the Panthers. Totally different set up than the leafs.A is correct
B They won't.
C tell that to Florida 44% of their cap on 4 players it's not half the cap but close enough
D I hear that all the time the 2006-2016 Leafs would like a word with you.
E 80 points last year in 80 games what are you talking about? if that's an anchor then give that anchor every day.
F you pay an MVP level player.
You’re probably right…. Unfortunately.Keefe extension.
The fact this organization would pass on an opportunity to improve this team because some dudes didn't want to wear a jersey.... Is one of many reasons we're doomed to perpetual failure.I like most of these suggestions. Domi? Hell no. 6 teams in 7 years? No thanks. That's Galchnyuk territory. J.Staal? I think the anti-Pride stuff might not fly with MLSE and just the city of Toronto in general. Although, that was Mark and Eric, not Jordan. Just my assumption that his views are the same as his bros. I could be way off base there. Still, there would be a big bashlash if he tried to pull that here. Just look what's going on with Anthony Bass. Toews? If he's willing to play for Gio money. Just enough so we could bury the contract without cap issues...like 1.2m. Might be a good 3rd, 4th line centre, and a proven winner. Like ROR. Want him back too.
The most pointlessly irrelevant regular season in historyIt’s going to be hard to be a leaf and watch next year if Treliving keeps the same coach and all the same core
