What's Treliving first deal going to be?

us paranoid Leaf fans worry about what we will be losing to Dubas, when we should be looking forward to what we can grab from Calgary.

Calgary has a lot of elements that the Leafs can benefit from.

I think he can use Lilly to get a Bigger piece if he wants to, at least as part of a package
 
I’m really hoping that Treliving fires Keefe and brings in Peter Laviolette. I think he would be the perfect replacement.

Also, I would like to see him trade for Connor Hellebuyck or John Gibson.

First major move will probably be re-balancing cap-space into defence and goaltending.

Whether that happens in the off-season or over the next year remains to be seen.

I don't think he's in that big of a rush to try to wave a magic wand at all this team's problems.

That’s going to be hard to balance With the way the contracts for the expensive core are structured. He has a very short window to clear out at least one of their cap hits or they are in total control

In a scenario where we keep Matthews, Nylander is traded and that re-balance will be accomplished.

In a scenario where we trade Matthews or he walks himself out to July 1st 2024 free agency, it happens by default.

There's no possible way all of these players are coming back with re-upped UFA deals.

One thing that Treliving said was thats its a copycat league so whatever team wins it other teams take note. I was just looking at Capfriendly Vegas/Panthers vs Leafs allocation of cap.....Vegas/Panthers set up is sooooo different to the leafs.. way way way more spread out so maybe fingers crossed Treliving does the same which would mean there will be changes?

He also talked about not just being about the core 4 but the team as a whole but he only said Matthews was an elite player in the league but he didnt say the same about Marner or Nylander which makes me think he will pay Matthews whatever he wants and get rid of 16 and or 88 so...changes maybe? I just cant see them moving the deck chairs around as the only solution.....right?...right?

God do I hope you’re right. I’m not ready to fully give up the fandom and they’re impossible to ignore if you live in the city. But at the same time, do I ever hate the core with possible exception of Rielly because I saw more from him this go round

Look at their top 4 forwards....leafs top 4 forwards make 10 mill more than the panthers top 4 forwards and Panthers only have one forward making 10. Vegas is similar to the Panthers. Totally different set up than the leafs.
 
He will hire an assistant GM etc. People he wants around him then AM chat, let go of Keefe? Hire Quenneville. No idea if they get along lol

The fact this organization would pass on an opportunity to improve this team because some dudes didn't want to wear a jersey.... Is one of many reasons we're doomed to perpetual failure.

I think two mobile bigger centres. They don’t need to be big offense guys. Like Roy and Stephenson in Vegas types. If we resign Acciari I think we have enough in system to fill out the rest up front. Maybe he’ll sign Lucic or Perry to be the Simmonds vet in and out of lineup.

I see two new defencemen plus Schenn resigning.

Maybe Lilly goes out to get one of those centres.

Samsonov rights traded for a vet goalie.
