Just read on MSN that Leaf’s are circling back to signing Kampf and Kerfoot. I’m ok with Kampf at the right deal but not Kerfoot. Prob just click bait though.

So is BT going to get us a shiny old Karlsson? Not going to lie, I would be pretty excited but no idea what we could possibly offer.

Karlsson with some retention for....

1st, Lilly, Murray (obviously no value) and what else of value can we possibly add? 😞 wish we had some fun prospects or picks left. Looks like a solid buyers market.

Rielly. Karlsson
McCabe. Brodie
Gio. Schenn

Reactions: sittler rules!!!
Ok... you might be right... but he did make 3 million per on his last contract and is in line for a raise for sure imho

Any of the dummies who "cleverly" left a laugh emoji on my previous post care to elaborate why exactly? maybe it is funny but I was just wondering which part was most funniest??
Yea, it was a trash proposal. That’s why I laughed, it was comical.

"It was a trash proposal" wow
such wise, insightful, useful and intelligent remarks by you 👌 thanks but you should have stuck with the emoji tbh because all of your comments in the future to me will now automatically be disregarded and considered valueless until further notice... cheers

Just as insightful as being so emotionally hurt by an emoji that you referred to me as a “dummy”. If you want an insightful response, don’t insult the people your inquiring.

Kinda crazy but I think all problems are solved by trading Rielly for Karlsson + 3 mil retained. Karlson is much older but he is a righty (which allows all the other pieces to fall into place) and if healthy is a better player than Rielly. I've never really been much of a Karlsson fan but hell 101 points by a dman, something like 71 points even strength? Hard not to notice that.

I did the old GM Fantasy roster simulator and I was able to fit under the cap this roster

Knies - Matthews - Marner
Debrincat (7.4mil) Tavares - Nylander
Robertson - Pinto (4.5mil)- Jarnkrok
$800k cap space - Accari - Lafferty

Karlsson-Brodie
McCabe -Timmins
Gio-Lily

Sammy (4.5mil)
Woll

If you take the names away and stop the debate about the who, there are roster dollars for a decent roster. If we traded Rielly and get Karlsson.

DeBrincat is the perfect forward for our style of game he is a rush attacker, if anyone was made to be a Leaf its him. We love run and gun, he is a run and gun forward.

SCOUTING REPORT
His lack of size has not kept him from becoming one of the NHL's most prolific goal-scoring threats. He is fast, quick to hit holes and shifty enough to maneuver around opposing defensemen. He has an excellent work ethic and drive to succeed. His play without the puck is improving and he is becoming a better passer, which only figures to make him even more dangerous as a scorer.
Long Range Potential : Smallish but elite scoring winger.

Hopefully to fire himself.

Ironically the guy in your avatar picture did exactly that :D

That forward group is too small and soft imo. And of all people to trade, you wanna trade Rielly? The 1 guy who played his heart out and played well almost every playoff

Debrincat isn't worth his qualifying offer either. He's a lousy defensive player. Stay far far away.

Fortunately Treliving isn't inclined to get smaller, more perimeter, more of a soft touch in the playoffs.

There is zero reason to pay DeBrincat 9 when you can just pay Nylander 9.
If you are adjusting the cap, you are moving a wing for a player like Keller 7x5 or Kempe 3x5.5.

I don’t see a huge benefit in moving Rielly for Karlsson. He’s undoubtedly better right now, but for how much longer given his age? Outside of this past season, they’ve not been that far apart in recent years. IMO if you’re adding Karlsson it’s to add a second high end offensive defenseman to what we already have, which also lets you insulate him with easier minutes as he ages.

I don’t see Debrincat signing in the $7s.

I appreciate the effort and the point you're trying to make, but I'd just suggest that if you're going to argue there's enough cap space to make a decent roster use one as an example, because your roster doesn't help make the case at all.

I think for me its more around the Righty top line dman vs the lefty top line dman, the roster fits better with Karlsson than Rielly. Karlsson has had a tonne of injuries, Rielly has had a bit of a rough injury stretch, Karlsson is much older but there was another Swedish HOF defender that played effectively into his 40's .

Change happens, Kerfoot played his heart out and he gone, Sandin played his heart out and he was traded, change happens.

Nothing. We're running this steaming pile of crap back until the core four is too old to make the playoffs. Its clear this org only cares about the safer regular season success and a couple of playoff home games. Small market teams pull this nonsense because they're terrified of losing revenue. Leafs have no such excuse.
