We need Reaves, I hope they sign him. Reaves will prevent guys bullying the superstars.

Leafs need our top paid guys to not be intimidated by physical hockey. Reaves won't stop the opponent from playing physical in playoffs, because nobody fights in the playoffs. Reaves isn't going to make Nylander and Marner go to dirty areas in the playoffs.

Leafs don't need help in the season.. They need help in the playoffs and Reaves won't help there.

It's early days yet but it appears that Treliving is one of those hockey executives who can work with anyone. I'm super impressed with his interpersonal skills. He entered an environment that is littered with people naturally loyal to the previous boss yet he seems comfortable with using and trusting existing staff.

According to Friedman, there is a report that the Maple Leafs have interest in players like Ryan Reaves, Miles Wood, and Austin Watson. The organization is looking to add physicality and toughness to their bottom-six forward group. While Reaves, Wood, or Watson contribute little in terms of offensive production, their physical play brings a different element to the game and addresses the perceived lack of intensity in the playoffs.

How different is Reaves from Simmonds? 36 years old and can't play well enough to be on the ice when the scorers are out. They need to look at players closer to their prime.

Speculation today is Ryan Reaves or Austin Watson are on Treliving's shopping list and Tanev is going to be a trade target. Tre wants to beef up our roster.

if we can stop pos like bennet ramming a kid's head into the ice by having reaves on the roster; i'd do it

I made a lineup of players with edgy reputations (cap compliant).

Domi (20g) - Matty (40g) - Marner (30g)
Bunting (23g) - Kadri (24g) - Compher (17g)
Jarnkrok (20g) - Kampf (7g) - Sundqvist (10g)
Hathaway (13g) - Acciarri (14g) - Reaves (5g)

Rielly (4g)- Dumba (4g)
McCabe (3g)- Tanev (1g)
Timmins (2g)- Lily (6g)

May not score much but hell that would be an entertaining team to watch :)

We need to add this to our top 6, nevermind the bottom six.

We can’t afford players closer to their prime

Tavares is 32 and turning 33 in Sept and he makes a similar $11 mil salary as EK for the next 2 seasons and he is a PPG center at best at this stage.

Would I take a 33 year old Dman making $11 mil and putting up > 100 points instead of an aging slowing down centre making the same. Hell Yeah I would. :wg:

If the Leafs would be interested in a Karlsson then one of their $11 mil players would have to be moving out. However I don't believe Karlsson would all that interested in Toronto to waive his NTC for because of his former ties to Ottawa and dislike that happened in the past with the battle of Ontario.

I suspect Treliving is going to look for volume moves on Defense like recently bought out Oliver Ekman-Larsson from his days in Arizona, or Noah Hanifin from Flames. etc.

The battle of Ontario hasn’t been a thing for 20 years

And intentionally injuring Knies. Everyone knows Toronto is soft and weak with no pushback. Remember Dubas had a video game fantasy. All you need is skill and no one will touch the stars. The refs will take care of it rofl.

I would love Treliving to talk to Jonathan Toews about the possibility of putting on a Leafs jersey and come and add some much needed leadership and character to the Leafs.

"Captain Serious", Toews would be great in the locker-room as well, helping support JT.

The fact he is my favourite non Maple Leaf player hasn't nothing to do with that suggestion, :wg:

Sorry, I meant where did you see the Tanev speculation?

YouTube, he was being interviewed. He briefly mentions it on the Kypper and Bourne show but he went into more detail on another podcast. He was speculating around Tre's penchant to build big tough physical defences.

Since when is Tanev a big tough defenseman? He had among the fewest hits on Calgary’s roster. He’s a defensive IQ guy like Brodie. I like Brodie but we don’t need an even older version of him.

If there’s a guy they’re taking out of Calgary it should be Zadorov.

Tough is not necessarily always a punch you in the mouth player, if you hate to play against a guy because he is so tough to expose, a guy you hate to play against is IMO a tough player.
