I know he's doing well, but it wouldn't shock me if KD continued to purge Bowman picks that can't skate. That means Regula and Del Mastro.
Also wouldn't be surprised to see Mitchell moved as Zawaski reported they think he's an AHL/NHL tweener.
He gave mastro a elc don’t see him getting moved any time soon

Regula isn't being moved unless it's a decent return.

Big RHDs aren't easy to acquire. Best thing is to give him time and see if he can make it as a full time NHLer, even if he's only relegated to the 3rd pair.

Interesting to see how the defence performs without SJones for 10-12 games, who out of Regula, Vlasic, Galvas, Phillips, Crevier and Zech gets the call?

Comparison of team defencemen groups

Toronto Maple Leaf defencemen $24 mill.
10gp 1g 15a 16pts -5 35pim

Chicago Blackhawk defencemen $22 mill.
9gp 2g 15a 17pts +4 42pim

Not too shabby so far guys!

I've listened to a couple Rockford games on their radio feed and the announcers are very high on the play of Galvis, Vlassic, Regula and Phillips. Course, it's home announcers and against AHL competition so temper any over the top expectations - but it's good to hear their play-by-play calling out good plays.

Korchinski is the one with the highest upside but I'm still very high on Kaiser and I've really warmed up to del Mastro, who is playing very well in the OHL with 12 points in 10 games.

Thunder Bay boy here, I found out a friend of mine is a MinnDuluth season for icket holder, has been for four years now, and they’ve been a very successful school in recent years and his favourite player is Kaiser, absolutely loves him, so that’s awesome...he says Domenic James has been their best forward this year as well

I’m hoping I can get his tickets in January vs StCloud so I can see James and Kaiser vs Basse

taige harding was Hockey east defender of the week. no idea if he grows into a prospect but he has size athletism and a mean streak which are all good things for a defender

This has been a focal point for a while in the draft-----now we need some power forwards with skill to make life miserable for the opposing D......

Looking at the group we have reminds me of early/mid 00's which was deepest system of D I can ever recall as part of Mike Smith building from net out plan (With Pulford 04 draft + Tallon first draft at tail end adding to pool)

What we had in summer of 05 as far as guys with legit potential or hope in system (Byfuglien was surprise success for me as I didn't think much of him as prospect and was higher on Kukkonen)

Anton Babchuk (2002 1st round)
Brent Seabrook (2003 1st round)
Cam Barker (2004 1st round)
Jonas Nordquist (2000 2nd round)
Duncan Keith (2002 2nd round)
Michal Barinka (2003 2nd round)
Olli Malmivaara (2000 4th round)
Vladimir Gusev (2001 4th round)
Niklas Hjalmarsson (2005 4th round)
James Wisniewski (2002 5th round)
Lasse Kukkonen (2003 5th round)
Dustin Byfuglien (2003 8th round)
Jim Vandermeer (Acq via trade with Phi)

vs current group

Nolan Allan (2021 1st round)
Kevin Korchinski (2022 1st round)
Sam Rinzel (2022 1st round)
Alex Vlasic (2019 2nd round)
Alex Regula (2018 3rd round, acq via Trade with Wings)
Wyatt Kaiser (2020 3rd round)
Taige Harding (2021 3rd round)
Michael Krutil (2020 4th round)
Ethan Del Mastro (2021 4th round)
Jakub Galvas (2017 5th round)
Isaak Phillips (2020 5th round)
Louis Crevier (2020 7th round)
Connor Kelley (2021 7th round)
Filip Roos (UDFA)

I expect the coming draft will add a few more quality prospects to pipeline while we lose some as guys move on unable to break thru to NHL level, not qualified or rights expire in coming years

At this point things look very promising but naturally we will have to wait and see how it turns out

I predict that Mitchell, Galvas and Regula will request a change of location. Roos will probably give it another year, sounds like he has Euro options though. I kind of like what I saw from Englund the few games he played and Tinordi does serve an enforcer role which is important It would be nice lose Connor Murphy at some point in the near future.

For me I see this as the early stages of the Hawk dynasty...defence wise...
Back in 2003104 we had a defence of
Bryan Berard
Nathan Dempsey
Jim Vandermeer
Stephane Robidas
Deron Quint
Alexander Karpovtsev
Burke Henry
Steve Poapst
Steve McCarthy
Jason Studwick
Anton Babchuk
Michal Barinka
Lasse Kukkonen
Jon Klemm
Jonathan Aitken

15 defencemen that season!!!

Then came the lockout...

In 2005-06 we had a defence of
Brent Seabrook
Jaroslav Spacek
Jim Vandermeer
Duncan Keith
James Wisniewski
Jassen Cullimore
Adrian Aucoin
Dustin Byfuglien
Anton Babchuk
Todd Simpson
Michal Barinka
Cam Barker
Danny Richmond

13 defencemen!!!

Then GM at the time admitted to the fact that coming out of the lockout, he assembled the wrong type of team, not sure if anyone remembers this but the Blackhawks embarrassinglessly lead the NHL in PIM with clearly no understanding of the new obstruction penalty system...then coach Trent Yawney(former NHL defencemen himself) was in over his head...

2006-07 to 2007-08 say a parade of defencemen come through
Keith, Seabrook, Aucoin, Kukkonen, Wisniewski, Barker, Vandermeer, Cullimore,
Byfuglien, Richmond, David Koci, Brent Sopel, Andrei Zyuzin, Jordan Hendry, Magnus Johansson and a Niklas Hjalmarsson...

It was the pivotal 2008-09 season where another coaching change happened, legendary star Denis Savard was replaced with former long time NHL defencemen Joel Quenneville...
That season our defence looked like
Brian Campbell
Keith
Barker
Byfuglien
Seabrook
Matt Walker
Wisniewski
Aaron Johnson
Hjalmarsson
Sopel
Hendry
Before the playoffs Wisniewski was sacrificed in a trade with ANA for Sam Pahlsson(rental) and tho going to conference finals the Barker-Walker pairing caused a change in direction

Our Cup teams consisted of the big three
Keith Seabrook Hjalmarsson
With Oduya, Rozsival, Campbell and Sopel
Mixed with Hendry, Boynton, Leddy, Brookbank, Timonen, van Riemsdyk, Cumiskey and Rundblad as the number six

I see this coming with the current team, Keith played two full seasons in the AHL, Seabrook joined Norfolk for a end of season roll and then into full time NHLer, Hjalmarsson, Barker, Wisniewski, Byfuglien and Hendry all spent time in the minors but one clear variable was outside signings and a trade or two as well...

Seth Jones is a legit big time corner stone defencemen...franchise defencemen

Connor Murphy, for me has been a carry on of Hjalmarsson, while different, I believe has been what would have to be said better than deminishing play on the back end, his bubble playoff was solid

Kevin Korchinski will be a key cog for sure

Ethan Del Mastro may be the Wisniewski of this version...a player that may be that one eventually moved out?

Nolan Allan will be a better NHLer then most expect

Alex Vlasic is doing a hat needs to be done, developing in the AHL

Isaak Phillips is an surprise that is jumping over other lesser but more disappointing defencemen like Nicolas Beaudin, Alec Regula and Ian Mitchell

Jarred Tinordi and Nikita Zaitsev could be this versions Sopel, Walker or Hendry

Where does Caleb Jones fit on tho?
